🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:40 🚢 *Emergency generators on ships provide power during main power failures to ensure essential functions.* 02:31 🔄 *The emergency generator takes over when the main power supply is lost, connecting through a breaker and supplying power to essential ship systems.* 03:53 ⚡ *Emergency generator power is divided into 440V and 220V, supplying critical ship functions like steering gear, navigation lights, and fire prevention systems.* 05:05 🚑 *Essential services powered by the emergency generator include emergency bilge pump, sprinkler system, compressor, and navigation equipment.* 06:44 🛠️ *Regular maintenance involves weekly starting, monthly load testing, and checks for oil, fuel, water levels, battery condition, and general inspection.* 09:05 🔋 *Starting methods include battery starting and hydraulic starting, with specific procedures and checks for each.* 11:46 🔄 *After testing, ensure the emergency generator is set back to auto mode for automatic operation in case of power failure.* 13:21 🌊 *Emergency generator regulations specify automatic start within 45 seconds after a blackout, capable of providing power for 18 hours, and operational in certain trim and list conditions.* 15:53 🛢️ *Fuel used in emergency generators must have a flash point not less than 43 degrees Celsius, ensuring safety during various environmental conditions.* 19:10 ❄️ *Lubricating oil and jacket water mix used in the emergency generator are designed to be anti-freeze, allowing operation in cold conditions down to zero degrees Celsius.* Made with HARPA AI
Thank you for the help. Meanwhile I think it's vital to mention the importance of the start up battery maintenance in order for the system to be 100% in condition to crank the emergency generator in case of power failure.
Thank you for your response and support!!!! Please do share on your facebook and whatsapp status!!!!! Marine Engineering hub aim is to bring all our marine personnel to this platform!!!!
sir in case of blackout when power is restored after E.G starts working how we can start main diesel generator if w e don't recieve power source to main switchboard ?
Thank you 👍 please share these video on your facebook and whatsapp status. MarineEngineering hub aim is to bring all our marine friends to this platform so that we can learn and grow together
Because the cable layed for Supplying power to all Essential Equipment is separate for Main Generators and Emergency Generator. So 2 supply source cannot provide power to one equipment. I hope you Understand!!! Thank you for your response!!! Please watch other Video's of Marine Engineering Hub !!!!!

May you please make a video on Power Distribution System on Ships
Can we use petrol on board for Em. Generator ?
In black out condition main engine will run or not
Why interlock need to be there?
Why we cannot run emergency generator parallel with main generator after recovery ????
Because the cable layed for Supplying power to all Essential Equipment is separate for Main Generators and Emergency Generator. So 2 supply source cannot provide power to one equipment.
