Every previous version of OxygenOS used to look closer to stock Android.

@@SilentForrest OxygenOS 13 is definitely better than Oxygen OS 12. No doubt about that. But when I compare it with Pixel UI or Moto/Asus phones, I don't like it at all.
There are so many things which I absolutely hate.
I still cannot set the 5 column layout in the app drawer.
Why is the Media player constantly present in the quick settings and cannot be remapped to something else. Also the new quick settings layout looks like MIUI action centre.
Why is the text so bold across the UI.
No system wide material U UI support.
Themed icons are also getting applied in app drawer. It looks absolutely ugly to have few apps with themed icons and others colourful. Learn something from pixel experience.

Ditch OnePlus and buy Pixel, much better decision imo.
Custom ROMs don't solve any problems. For playing around the device it is fine, but if you do anything serious (including using it as your primary device), stuff starts falling apart pretty quickly.
For example, if you do banking on your phone or store sensitive info, do you actually trust a random person on internet to provide you with reliable, non malicious, secure and consistent OS and updates? I won't, unless it is a reputable OS with good history (99% aren't).
Then there are issues with various hacks custom ROMs use to bypass safety net, nobody knows when these stops working and break apps.

Its not much of the design that irks me. Our firm had 75 Oneplus devies to be replaced this year for three teams totalling 225 devices. But we just removed Oneplus from our qualifying devices list owing to unrefined OS changes made after Oxygen os 12. Our IT dept and head and manager were ardent fans of the brand before this. What I learnt from the story with OxygenOS is that we should always look what the product is, not what the brand is.
Because we believed in OnePlus and what they were doing. We believed in OxygenOS because it was really great. And they changed. Their products are still very good but in most cases they are rebranded Oppo phones. And before they were different. They offered incredible value and probably the best software. And Oppo was not selling the same phone under a different name. But now they are the same. So we are disappointed. We are saddened. We are angry. Because we believed in OnePlus.
But we should believe in ideas and products, not brands, because one day the brand is going to disappoint us. And we should not be feeling something strong because something is happening with a brand. We should just change to another brand that offers a better product.
The next brand that's going on this way is Nothing. We will see what their position will be in some years but I believe the same is going to happen. And it's probably inevitable.

On top of this the new versions of Oxygen are diabolical. I upgraded from Oxygen 11 to 12 and the new version is unstable, my OP 9 Pro occasionally reboots and generally runs hotter. The best OP is the 7 Pro and since then I'm not impressed with the hardware, the new OxygenOS and the new owners Oppo.

I loved the OP 6T. It was the best Android phone I owned, beating out (barely) my LG G3 and by a long shot my Galaxy S3 and S7 Edge. The skin was light yet had the features I really wanted out of Android. The customization features were ahead of their time but weren't over done. The phone was fast and fluid to the point I had a hard time differentiating between it's 60hz display and my roommate's 120 hz display on his OP 8.
What killed my love for OP was it's botched and delayed final Android update. T-Mobile never even released it because it was so botched. The fact they started to merge Color OS, ruining what made OP great was the nail in the coffin. I decided to upgrade to the Pixel 6 when they offered $300 off on my trade in and also the last security update was being delivered that month. I'll never buy another OP device over their broken promises and terrible os upgrade support.

Destroying every skin from Samsung, Apple, Huawei, Xiaomi, and yes even Google itself. Now it seems slower than all of them, with an aggressive App closing that now rivals Xiaomi MIUI. Other than that, when it comes to convenience and features, OxygenOS still gives you plenty, doesn't it? Then why not keep using it. ColorOS can borrow whatever they want, you can keep using OOS, right? Correct me if I'm wrong here.
