Its not much of the design that irks me. Our firm had 75 Oneplus devies to be replaced this year for three teams totalling 225 devices. But we just removed Oneplus from our qualifying devices list owing to unrefined OS changes made after Oxygen os 12. Our IT dept and head and manager were ardent fans of the brand before this. Their experience with the os in recent times were bad to say the least, and resulted in us changing to other brands for official use.
What I learnt from the story with OxygenOS is that we should always look what the product is, not what the brand is. Because we believed in OnePlus and what they were doing. We believed in OxygenOS because it was really great. And they changed. Their products are still very good but in most cases they are rebranded Oppo phones. And before they were different. They offered incredible value and probably the best software. And Oppo was not selling the same phone under a different name. But now they are the same. So we are disappointed. We are saddened. We are angry. Because we believed in OnePlus. But we should believe in ideas and products, not brands, because one day the brand is going to disappoint us. And we should not be feeling something strong because something is happening with a brand. We should just change to another brand that offers a better product. The next brand that's going on this way is Nothing. We will see what their position will be in some years but I believe the same is going to happen. And it's probably inevitable.
Honestly... my complaint was that OxygenOS was starting to look ugly and half-baked, ever since v11. Then in v12 it got really buggy. I think OnePlus was just taking their time to fully integrate these 2 software development teams. And this 13 update looks to finally iron out the kinks. It looks really clean imo, nothing looks visually out-of-place, and I'm digging these new features! MY FINGERS ARE CROSSED 🤞🏾
My OP 9 Pro is my last OnePlus phone sadly. I've been with the OnePlus journey since OP 2. What with the increase in price of every new phone since OP 5 onwards, the new phones these days have a minimal difference in price comparison to Samsung. On top of this the new versions of Oxygen are diabolical. I upgraded from Oxygen 11 to 12 and the new version is unstable, my OP 9 Pro occasionally reboots and generally runs hotter. The best OP is the 7 Pro and since then I'm not impressed with the hardware, the new OxygenOS and the new owners Oppo. I'll be buying Xiaomi or another brand next time. Oppo can keep their new masquerading OnePlus phones.
I love my OnePlus 8T. I'm going to keep using it for a couple more years (Android 14 is the last supported update). My next phone most definitely will be a Pixel tho.
I had the exact same thought: still rocking my 8T (what is regret mostly about the android 12 update is the lack of individual icon change) but for my next phone the pixel seems like the only way to go.
@Benjamin Jagun I think you mean *hardware.* though the Pixel does have quite a few features that you can only normally see in a Samsung device (for instance Smart View has been a Samsung feature for yeeeears before it was baked into Pixel phones) Id consider the Pixel as well, but I still believe it's a far cry departure from what the Google Nexus line was. The Pixel to me seems.. Stuck between what It wants to be and what it's trying to accomplish at being.
Color os and realme ui are so buggy and glitchy. Always had problems with notifications and calls. Always! They should really disappear from our markets or get rid of their ugly roms if u ask me
@@P4N15HR strange. I've been using an Oppo phone since the last 3 years and couldn't say anything negative about the ColorOS UI. It's clean, fast and beautiful IMHO. Many years I used Oneplus phones and everytime I had problems with the backgound services, the good battery life of oneplus phones was bought with too fast closing every app/service I needed and I could nothing do to fix it. So I think the choice that was made to move up to ColorOS was the right decision. But thats only my opinion. Let's see what the future is bringing to us.
Coming from an iPhone I bought the 10t cheap as chips love it and I don't get the fuss about the os it works it's fast that's all I care and I got a lot more freedom than iOS so no complaints at all be it color or oxygen os don't care as long as it work just want the android 13 update to come fast for 10t can't wait
Forget iJustine... I think you look rather hot in the thumbnail! oxygenOS 11 was the last great OnePlus OS. These days it's just re-badged oppo hardware with re-badged oppo software. As a previous OnePlus user... It's such a shame.
Been an OnePlus user since the OnePlus One. I recently retired my beloved OnePlus 7 Pro. When they started with the budget and midrange Nord phones in 2020, they started to lose their way. Slow and buggy updates have deteriorated the experience over time. Just updated to OOS12. Its not my daily driver anymore so I don't know if its buggy, but my God I migh t as well put an OPPO sticker on the back. I have never used the same phone for so long, and it still works fine, but after 3.5 I upgraded to the Pixel 7 Pro and its brilliant. The OnePlus spirit is dead.
I Just want a OnePlus phone with Pixel UI and Software. I don't like the ColorOS skin in the OnePlus. Oxygen is now already gone. So some consumers is very disappointed.
I have the OP 10T and a Redmi 11 and as a OP fan since the 3T, I must say that the interface of the Redmi 11 that only costs 200 euros is more intuitive than the ColorOS. It's so sad
Just feel for those folks that bought an OnePlus 10 pro or 10 T because they promised that this wouldn't happen. Sad to see people being played like that.
That would be me! Deliberated for months about buying the 10 pro then finally took the plunge last week after reading Lau saying they were going to go back to a proper OxygenOS. Wish I'd watched this before buying. Having said that, the 10 pro is still a beautiful piece of glass.
I loved the OP 6T. It was the best Android phone I owned, beating out (barely) my LG G3 and by a long shot my Galaxy S3 and S7 Edge. The skin was light yet had the features I really wanted out of Android. The customization features were ahead of their time but weren't over done. The phone was fast and fluid to the point I had a hard time differentiating between it's 60hz display and my roommate's 120 hz display on his OP 8. What killed my love for OP was it's botched and delayed final Android update. T-Mobile never even released it because it was so botched. The fact they started to merge Color OS, ruining what made OP great was the nail in the coffin. I decided to upgrade to the Pixel 6 when they offered $300 off on my trade in and also the last security update was being delivered that month. I'll never buy another OP device over their broken promises and terrible os upgrade support.

OnePlus could have written OxygenOS from scratch starting from the base of Android 12 o 13 and build the few key features they have on top of it, would have been great. But Oppo couldn't allow it so..

It's a shame to see one of the smoothest skins I've ever seen being changed. Oxygen OS used to be the king of the generic speedtests often ran on UA-cam. Destroying every skin from Samsung, Apple, Huawei, Xiaomi, and yes even Google itself. Now it seems slower than all of them, with an aggressive App closing that now rivals Xiaomi MIUI. It's painful to watch. Someone needed to expose it though since it's generally being severely downplayed across the board. 👍
Honestly, colorOS is not even that bad. For those who saying it's bad before even using it as daily driver, you should try it. I switch from OneUI. Initially i thought that colorOS would be awful, but it turns out that it's smooth and contain useful feature, and not bloated as well. No annoying ads either.

Speaking as a Pixel user and based solely on this video, for the OxygenOS purists, it seems like their main complaint is that Oppo basically took the best features of OOS and transported it to ColorOS. Other than that, when it comes to convenience and features, OxygenOS still gives you plenty, doesn't it? Then why not keep using it. ColorOS can borrow whatever they want, you can keep using OOS, right? Correct me if I'm wrong here. I mean, complaining about the lack of a 'Never Seattle's logo in the calculator and settings is weird, tbh. It doesn't really affect your usage, right?
Wish I had enough money to switch to a Pixel. My OnePlus 7T has driven me crazy for the past months, and now the russians worsen the financial situation. Heck it's even worse than just no routine software updates/fixes/optimizations, when there's war in your country and your phone actually DRAINS battery like crazy when you are under a threat of power going out and you won't be able to connect with your loved ones.

I will not spend my money on any phone that doesnt give me a sim tray Ie. I absolutely will not do esim. OP on the other hand does provide a sim tray. And provides me a iOS experience one better than apple provides. So i have been buying OP these last few years. So lets look at how much apple has lost from just one person. OP12. OP Open. OP 11. OP 10 Pro OP 10 T OP 3 which was very hard to come by in the USA. And the OP nord N30. All since they did away with the sim tray And i bought two of the 10t and 10pro. Yah I'm goofy that way. Color OS 13 on my Find X5 is pretty neat but battery life.....damn 😂
thats my worries. i have an amazing battery on 10 pro
Man that freaking sucks.
Which brands have as good software as oxygen is was?
I clicked because of the thumbnail 😂
The best on this chanel so far
They changed it 😭. What was it like?
Still use a OnePlus 6. Flashed Lineageos a couple months ago. Phone feels new! Next phone will be a pixel, no more OnePlus for me.
agree 💯
It was recently announced that Nothing Phone won't be getting Android 13 until next year. Already off to a bad start 🤦♂
I don't like this comment.
@@yeejay6396 @OCDGeek128 meanwhile my Realme phone is getting it soon.
Nothing is kinda overrated. Sorry to say this but Carl pei is not targeting geeks
@@yeejay6396 okay.
Honestly... my complaint was that OxygenOS was starting to look ugly and half-baked, ever since v11.
Oxygen os 10 was the best and currently the best os!
Right now I'm on Oxygen os 11 & not updating it to 12!
Oxygen OS 12 was terrible anyways, I think this is a great new direction they are taking. This should help them provide updates more frequently too
The fact that the 8, 9 and 10 series all currently have Android 13 beta sets a good precedent, but I'm still skeptical
I would rather have slow, stable updates than rapid, buggy ass shitty Chinese OS ones, and that is all I've gotten ever since I updated to 12
i would rather have a terrible oxygen os which was innovative and original than suffer a cancerous disease like color os
Well said bruh! 👍
MIUI is probably worse than oxygen or colors tho
Why not Pixel?
I feel in the latter half of the video, a comparison with the old oxygen OS about what you miss and prefer would be much more helpful.
8T is getting A14?
How is the 8Pro's last update A13 when they both released the same model year?
@Benjamin Jagun I think you mean *hardware.* though the Pixel does have quite a few features that you can only normally see in a Samsung device (for instance Smart View has been a Samsung feature for yeeeears before it was baked into Pixel phones)
Id consider the Pixel as well, but I still believe it's a far cry departure from what the Google Nexus line was. The Pixel to me seems.. Stuck between what It wants to be and what it's trying to accomplish at being.
@@yeejay6396 8T got released with android 11 while 8pro released with android 10.

Let's see what the future is bringing to us.

oxygenOS 11 was the last great OnePlus OS.
I don't mind, I just put nova launcher over it anyway. Plus Google's material you has blown up system UI elements don't appeal to me.
I Just want a OnePlus phone with Pixel UI and Software. I don't like the ColorOS skin in the OnePlus. Oxygen is now already gone. So some consumers is very disappointed.
which is why I installed a custom pure android firmware on my 7T, and am incredibly happy with it.
I am more concerned about the alert slider disappearing on the 10T
"You either die a hero or live long yourself to become a villain" - OnePlus
I have the OP 10T and a Redmi 11 and as a OP fan since the 3T, I must say that the interface of the Redmi 11 that only costs 200 euros is more intuitive than the ColorOS. It's so sad
Already done, Oxygen was impressive, one of the best, now ColorOS is to me, dull and short of the former's legacy.

Currently on OOS 13 but tbh i miss the OOS 11 so bad
I don't think anyone can have a hard time differentiating 60Hz and 120Hz, they are miles apart
@@terabhaiultrasexy There's a lot of comments from people who say otherwise. Maybe you can tell, but that doesn't mean everyone can.

Color OS has benefited so much from OOS that it's actually really good skin now. I don't have a problem with it. It's better than OneUI by far.
don't forget, beeing the king of speedtest is at a price....
Honestly at this point I'd really like to just have Oppo phones come to North America considering so many of their devices are really good.
Which os/ui looks more ugly?
It's a cheap iOS knockoff nonetheless. If I had to use iOS, I will get an iPhone.

@@IndiansAreWeirdos None of them ugly IMO. OneUI is more mature and scale well whether it's smartphone or tablet, but theming wise i prefer colorOS. The default launcher on colorOS allowed third party icon pack which is huge for me, a features that not available on OneUI.

As an older oneplus user I switched to a nothing phone.. so far i am happy with the experience.. 😅
Wish I had enough money to switch to a Pixel. My OnePlus 7T has driven me crazy for the past months, and now the russians worsen the financial situation.
