This is 100% the league's fault in my mind. You have a rule in the rulebook for this but if you're not going to enforce it then what do you think is going to happen? Pitchers are going to see other pitchers use it and if they want to maintain the same ability/salary as them then they're almost forced to use it.

If he says yes, you crucify him for cheating. He’s explaining the practice while not throwing anyone under the bus. There’s a huge grey area here that baseball has been complicit in. To expect a player to out himself and other players for something that hasn’t been enforced properly for decades is totally unreasonable. I’m just glad he didn’t flat out deny it.

This isn't the first time substances have been used. This is just the first time we've acknowledged the whining about it.
I don't want "better offense" because the pitchers get hindered. I want better offense because the offensive players WORK HARDER to become better at offense. Hitters have become lazy, and full of bad habits. Donaldson might be the laziest of them all.
This is no different than telling defensive backs they can't face guard, or telling defensive players in the NBA they can't hand check anymore. It's nothing more than handicapping the defense in favor of "more offense".
And what has it done? Ruined the game. Why? Because we, as fans, know that the offense we see isn't as "earned" as it could be.

Trevor Bauer isn't the guy behind all of this. He just made it public years ago, while calling out Gerrit Cole (and the Astros) for doing this. I won't be surprised when Rob Manfred punishes Bauer and pretends that everything's solved, but they're going to have to suspend way more guys than him.
