Where the heck has this guy been my entire golfing career. He understands the game not only for himself but, more importantly, for the typical golfer. His instruction is spot on. Can't wait to sign up for lessons. I have never posted a comment on youtube before and I have no association with or benefit from this review. I am truly impressed with his teaching and explanation of fundamental skills.
I'm a scratch player and have recently been feeling like I get "lag stuck", where my arms are pretty well in sync but I have so much lag near impact that I'm still forced to flip the club hard or try to almost come over the top and pull fade it with the driver to have any chance at hitting my target. This video gave me some great insight as to what I may be doing in transition to cause this. I don't necessarily feel like my wrist is cupped, but now I know there's no way for me to get that angle without cupping it. Great video and thanks for the tips!!
Excellent !!! Jonathan is really good at isolating "nuances", that is key components of the swing, and 1) giving you awareness of what is going on, and 2) giving you explicit drills for working on these "components". In golf, there are thousands of "components" and coordinating them is a whole additional story to that. Like grammar, there are a thousand pieces you have to put together. Well, you have to start somewhere, and eventually you'll get there. Jonathan's explanations and videos are EXCELLENT for helping along the way. They are helping me in any case. Thanks Jonathan! You're wise beyond your years!
I don't usually interact with UA-cam instruction but you are my favorite instructor on the channel. if you weren't in a different country I would definately book a lesson with you. All of your content is fantastic and I hope you keep up the great informational content!
I am in the process of taking the game back up after 15 yr. hiatus due to sports injuries, arthritis, joint replacements, back issues, etc. I am healthy and mobile enough (though weight loss, stretching, core strength, bicycling) to get out and try to swing my clubs. Could not swing correctly or consistantly - was a mess. I have been watching Jonathan's video's and practicing the drills and it has been - "wa-la!" there's that old crushing it feeling again! I am 65 and can't hit it as far, but am much more consistant and more apt to flush my irons. Loving that I can play again. Jonathan is great - extremely clear, concise, technical & helpful!!
Even though it is kind of nitty gritty, I really like the way you explain the anatomical break down of the swing. As you say, many instructors very casually talks about the necessity of lag without bothering to understand the consequenses. Or they perhaps have extremely quick wrists so that they can square the club face in time. However, I don't have that so this vid was really good in that sense. Thanks and keep on Jonathan.
Thank you. I have been struggling with my golf swing in my late 70's and chicken winging over the past two years. I have now corrected my swing thanks to you. I am most grateful. Bless you
FInally the right explanation for wrists! For months of practice I have always slice to the right because open club, cant wait to try it tomorrow. Thank you !
incredible how this simple explanation has corrected almost 90% of my problems with the Swing. Awesome, I can´t understand why his is not being said by all golf instructors,
That was a a very simple and lucid explanation of a very subtle move in the back swing, which a lot of us do without realising. For those of us who learned to play golf before the joys of you tube and the likes of good coaches like you, it unfortunately became ingrained into our swings and now has to be unlearned! Thanks for a great video!
"which a lot of us do without realising" which you imagine that a lot of people do, which they may actually do, but I doubt that many people call that "lag"
Great tip....JK is actually trying to keep it simple, but lag is a fairly complicated concept. I think he did well to make it clear about how to not over do the wrist flex at the top of the swing.
I've watched a crap ton of online golf content back when I was learning the game for the first couple years and your explanations and content are absolutely on another level.
Been golfing for 16 years, I've never been a "short" player but felt I could be getting a little more. After first try with this small adjustment I added 10 mph club head speed to my 7 iron! Thanks for the quick easy to understand tip!
I wholly concur with the previous comments- your explanation of how to manage wrist position is far and away the best I’ve seen. I love the drill as well. Thank you, and keep up the great work!
At this moment I have taken 3 golf lessons with some degree of success, but watching your videos has put it all into perspective. You have a unique way of explaining the golf swings errors and corrections that has really helped me. I have subscribed and I am now pouring through your videos and working on your exercises with the recommended tools when it applies. Looking forward to your videos, keep up the excellent work.
JK. Many thanks for this. This has been a big issue for me personally and your excellent explanation has opened my eyes. I have always made this lead hand cupping move and you have helped me a lot here.
Wow, was working on the exact same thing at the range today, but was not sure if I was going in the right direction. The shots were much better today. I got the idea from watching some tour players on the back swing (Dustin Johnson and others). It has really helped and now this video explains and confirms perfectly. Thank you Jonathan. Best video I have seen yet, on wrist hinge. Cheers.
Thanks for the very clear explanation. I couldn’t work out why I had started hitting to my right and then occasionally snap-hooking. Will try bowing the wrist when practicing.
Great explanation and the best drill to feel that, that I have seen out of all the teachers on here that I've been watching. And you get right to the point without making a 15 minute video full of fluff. Thank you for your time.
This is an almost impossible to find explanation. Usually, you are never told this. A honest Pro showed me exactly that subject and it worked kind of a wonder. I shall go deeper into this channel. Thank you. Jonathan!
I’ve struggled to improve down further from a 6/7 handicap as I frankly do not understand the physics of the game despite playing for a long time (sad but true); your simple and clear explanations are greatly helping. I hit some very solid irons on the range yesterday >> right to target and >> not moving in the wind. I was only thinking of the elbow position and bottoming out with left hand and club both being in a straight line after impact. Working on a in to out path as mine is the reverse of that. I like your honest no nonsense approach. 🙌👍👏
I have been researching golf lessons for a long time, but I recognize that Jonhatan Moss is undoubtedly one of the best, because he explains all the movements and consequences in detail. It would be great if you lived in Portugal to be able to take some classes.
Great video, it also agrees with other teachers on what to do, just described in a different way. So when I see something being taught by several different instructors it's going to be something to pay attention to. I'll be watching more of your lessons, thanks.
Dude absolutely brilliant video,,,,,,I’m most of the time hitting the with an open club face and now cannot wait to try that way out thanks a lot Kim 👍👍
I have watched thousands of UA-cam videos and something about Jonathon's teaching just clicks with my brain. So happy I found JCM. Hopefully these lessons will improve my inconstant game. About to check out his website for swing analysis. Thanks JCM
Your are one of the best trainers on u tube my score went from average 85 to 90 to 85 to 80 in a couple of weeks with your tips hitting ball much crisper now just got to work on that putting lol
Another outstanding tutorial, I've been cupping my wrist lately in backswing and actually what you said could happen was happening, definitely going to practice bowing wrist slightly more, it feels really weak when I try to much , like the club is going to come out of my hand ! Thanks again really great video!
A good explanation…but it is one of those things where absent “feeling” the correct wrist motion it is tough to simulate. And I think this is a problem area for me in some ways…so thanks for the advice and let’s see if I can get the hang of it!
How did this show up in my feed today? I went three holes yesterday where I kept hitting the ball to the right and I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong. Although I was able to fix the problem with with a different thought process, this video explains it better than the method I came up with!
Jonathan! Great content as always. My stuggle has been the cupped left wrist and to your point, the best aolution for me was to increase the ulnar deviation which also provided me with a wider arc. I find it more simple as well to keep the club as far away from my chest without turning too far back-no distance loss and no more weak contact. Keep up the great work and thank you for the great content!
It's crazy - I've seen so many videos where instructors say to bow the wrist in transition and the downswing. For me this was always useless because of how much other stuff was happening in the transition. The clear advice about increasing ulnar deviation in the takeaway to promote more lead wrist flexion = gold.
First video I've watched - subscribed. Not only is this my issue (almost corrected the outside in, but as a result of my wrists, I have to make corrections, stand up, and continually drive the ball left), you've explained it with anatomical terms, which is helpful. I'm gonna try this drill at the range today (if it stops raining anytime soon!)
Hi Jonathan, I just discovered your channel after recently starting to practice golf. This is such a carefully broken down video executed with excellent verbal clarity that it really helped me have a better holistic understanding of a proper swing. I'd like to also ask your opinion about this: I've been told on multiple occasions that the only, if not the primary movement of the wrist during a swing should only involve up and down hinging (radial or ulnar deviation) with the lead arm flexed + stretched and never bent. I feel like with your explanation here I finally understood how it is possible to go from takeaway to performing the swing with what feels to be only up and down hinging of the wrist being employed, but at the same time I wonder if that is a correct direction and interpretation at all. If you may please share your thoughts on this, it'd be greatly appreciated!

Yes, JK is one of the best youtube instructors I have seen so far.

Yes, I really love the way JK makes things clear.

Your instructional videos are exceptionally good! I've never really understood what the wrists should be doing until now. Great stuff!

Haven't tried it out yet, but I'm so excited. The misconception explained at the beginning was mind opening. Thanks.
You just nailed the problem I have with my driver. Off to the range I go!
No one on the whole inet has explained this - this well. So simple but also so so important. Brilliant. 👌👌👌👌👌
Great tip....JK is actually trying to keep it simple, but lag is a fairly complicated concept. I think he did well to make it clear about how to not over do the wrist flex at the top of the swing.
Thanks again for a great video. Explains why I shank when I try to create more lag all the time
The clearest explanation of this I have ever heard! A lightbulb moment. Thank you!
I've watched a crap ton of online golf content back when I was learning the game for the first couple years and your explanations and content are absolutely on another level.
Clear and short instructions. Thank you for not too rambling as many other youtube swing coaches.
Been golfing for 16 years, I've never been a "short" player but felt I could be getting a little more. After first try with this small adjustment I added 10 mph club head speed to my 7 iron! Thanks for the quick easy to understand tip!
cut your clubshaft and head weight in half, see what that does to your swingspeed
being playing 20 yrs of golf...why i didn't realize till now!!!, ty Jonathan
I wholly concur with the previous comments- your explanation of how to manage wrist position is far and away the best I’ve seen. I love the drill as well. Thank you, and keep up the great work!
Great instruction, I like how you just get straight into it, I don't need to skip the first 10mins like other vids.
I wish I would have understood the wrist flex and wrist extension years ago. Excellent explanation of the incorrect way to create lag.
Very fluent and skilled in describing a powerful and accurate increase in club head speed. Well done.
Fix my lag problem immediately. Outstanding insight into fixing my 3 years problem.
Exceptionally good instructions based on perfect analysis of anatomical movements.
Clear and concise instructions, and extremely helpful for me. You are a very clear communicator... Thank you!!!
Easily best coach on UA-cam. Incredible break down for your average golfer.
This is pure gold. Thanks Johnathan!
The light has just clicked on! Brilliant. Thank you!

Great information. For those that already understand the concept skip to 5:06. The prior discussion is also interesting though.
Perfect!!!!!
Ive been wondering about that So Much. You have definitely Cleared it up!
Keep it Comin
Great explanation to the details. Thank you very much, Jonathan!
👍

This is Gold! Explained so well.
Always to the point...
No unnecessary bs...
Well done...keep it up.
These are excellent lessons. Thank you.

I had no idea that I was cupping so badly in order to "increase" my backswing until watching this video. Absolutely brilliant as always!
I’ve struggled to improve down further from a 6/7 handicap as I frankly do not understand the physics of the game despite playing for a long time (sad but true); your simple and clear explanations are greatly helping. Thanks for the video. I think this is exactly what I do which results in either the going right or flipping of the hands.
Will give it a go tomorrow.
Outstanding instruction! Well explained. Thank you!
Extremely convincing and useful explanation with sound anatomical underlying theory!
Fantastic explanation of the wrist position. I have been using a cup wrist for years. Problem solved. Thanks
Really worked I'm so surprised with your lesson.I would have get your videos before. Thank J.K....Your video is my best lesson ever.
By far you are best I’ve seen on UA-cam. Keep it up.
I’ve been watching your videos, they are simple and easy to follow. You have a great thing going on, keep it up
What a great point on with the wrist angle , that's help me greatly . Great presentation
Thanks Jonathon. This is like the twist away. Great reinforcement. 👍
Great lesson. I can't wait until I get to the range tomorrow. Thank you.
Such a helpful visual way for me to understand what's happening it what to avoid
Amazing! Perfect explained !
Very clearly explained thank you 👍
Great drill ....great teacher ....well done
This was incredibly helpful. I didn’t realize how much I was cupping my lead wrist. Thank you!!!

So accurate in everething I watched from you and so helpful.
Thank you.
And keep your excellent job.
Wow Jonathan, great video! This is what I need. My blade is way to open in the backswing. Keep up your great work🙏
I do it correctly already but didn't know it. Thanks for the explanation, nice to know that at least I am doing something right!
Another great video!! Thanks a lot for all the videos you share
Exact issue I've been having. Awesome explanation!!

You're a beast at teaching golf, your channel is going to blow up soon
Talk too much. Too basic. 3/4 on the mistake. The cure should be more explore novice
Really good explanation! Thank you so much

That’s a GREAT drill! I love it. I started doing it in my warm up and it sets me on a great path for the day. THANK YOU!
Extremely helpful, thank you!
God, I’ve been waiting for this topic for so long. Great job ! Thank you!
good clean description of this, you keep talking and explain well, subscribed
Great stuff Jonathan - I think this might just be one of the best explanations of wrist angle I've come across. I'm subscribing.

Man you are the truth!!!!!! Keep this videos coming.
Jonathon… another great vlog. I am resident in the UK and trying to set up a group of lessons but the process is very confusing
This is a great insight. I tried it and it works. Thank you for making it so clear.
You have explained scientific approach.
Another great instructional video, well explained and so easy to understand.
Can't wait to try that thank you Jonathon.
Very interesting. I will give this a try on the range tomorrow.

great tips! Changing this into reality is not easy but doable. Needs lots of practice.
Fantastic tip. What a difference this made. I can finally have some confidence hits my irons.
Good stuff thank you! Makes total sense. 👍
