  • Ragini Shankar is presenting here a beautiful melody on violin in Raga Bihag. This MERU Concert was held on 11 April 2015 at TheaterHotel de Oranjerie in Roermond, The Netherlands. Accompanying her on tabla is Ramkrishna Manohar and on harmonium is Santosh Ghante.
    Ragini delights her listeners with her flawless violin performances of beautiful classical ragas. Since the tender age of four, Ragini has been fortunate to train under her renowned mother Sangeeta Shankar, and her grandmother, the legendary violinist, Padma Bhushan Dr. N. Rajam. Ragini has performed at prestigious music events in India and abroad.

    Though a Hindustani Classical vocalist myself, I have been a devotee of the violin for ever. Thank you, Ragini, for uplifting my soul with your rendition of Bihaag. Such a happy raaga, played with effortless charm and beauty. Long live....

    She plays it so effortlessly that too with such a nice pleasant smile and wins over the audience right away. Most artists close their eyes and are a bundle of concentration on the other hand Ragini appears like going in park for a walk careless but to produce such intricate nuances her brain must be working furiously sending signals to her hand getting constant feedback from he ears and eyes ... just amazing how much a real training can garnish ... wow clap clap calp

    Dear Ragini,
    The sweetness of your music unites with your own sweetness, gentility, and charm to one whole thing which completely melts my heart. Your natural talent overflows without limits. You do it effortlessly and lovely as a goldfish swimming in a pond. I enjoy hearing your music again and again - it inspires me in my writing.

    Really outstanding performance.
    It reminds me of a 50 years' old performance by your grandmother. Prof. N Rajam Ji, at an All India Radio - Lucknow recording concert in 1967 when I first heard Dr Rajam playing. Her daughter, Sangeeta Shankar, was sitting on the stage with her.

      Music is not in the instrument, the heart is the heaven of music, there goes the eternal rendition of tunes, the more meticulous the rendition the more rings the tunes of the heart. The beautiful music breaks the barriers of life and death. Hopes are the stars of life and hopelessness is the perpetual darkness.

    • @erikm8372
      @erikm8372 10 місяців тому

      It’s still a percussion instrument. Lol. A person saying “drum” isn’t necessarily referring to the western equivalent, like a drummer in a rock band. A bongo is a drum, a bodhrán from Ireland is a drum, a mridangam is a drum, and so is the tabla, all percussion instruments. The difference with tabla and most Indian percussion is that they’re tuneable to match the melody instrument and the tanpura (the droning) in the background… so, a drum is not necessarily referring to the western “drum set” or “drum kit” we see so often in popular music, and many other genres.

    I was spellbound by Ragini's beautiful rendition of raga Bihag on the violin. Her alap, tans, gamakas, and jhala are full of variety, intricacies and beauty. She shows rare maturity and perfection at young age. I would have liked to see more close-ups of her fingers.
