Not sure what attracted me to watch this video but glad I did. As an Ottawan myself, it was a very unique way to see our City travelling from the east into Ottawa. Well done,
Ottawa has a beautiful downtown area and it’s certainly a unique perspective from the water. We appreciate your comment and thanks so much for watching Victor!😎
Thanks for the positive feedback Gary… we really appreciate it! 🙏 Not all loopers cruise this route, and we might be a little biased, but those that do get a real treat!😎
Hey Tom, thanks for watching today’s episode. We had a few sprinkles while in Ottawa and a sun shower is always pretty. We might be kind of biased since we grew up in Ottawa, but it has a lot to offer.😎
Nice cruise getting to Ottawa....nice houses and trees along the way. The eight locks are a lot smaller than the ones you've been going through. Ottawa seemed like a refined city of class. Enjoyed checking Ottawa out.
Hey thanks for your kind feedback TMac!😊 A Rideau lock chamber is 40.8 m (134 ft.) long (sill to sill) by 10.1 m (33 ft.) wide. The maximum vessel length that can fit into a lock is 33 m (110 ft.) to allow room for the upper breastwork and the swing of the lower gates. Some of our earlier videos show the Kawartha Voyageur cruise boat and she was built with a bow that folds up so she fits in the locks! 😎
Ottawa is a great place to live or visit! The Rideau Canal is well run and the Parks Canada lock staff are great, so we think you will enjoy your visit by boat. Thanks for watching this episode Frank and enjoy your visit to Ottawa next season!😎
Ottwa seems like at perfect place to live and visit. So clean and the pace seems manageable. The lock operators get the brunt of your visit. Size of boat seems limited. Great video as usual.
We might be a little biased showing off our hometown Ottawa! It was special for us to come up the flight locks and re-enter this city. Thanks so much for watching Buck!😎
Ottawa has docking right downtown (with power) making it super convenient to walk and see the sites. There is a lot to see and we showed the highlights. Perhaps you’ll see it on your next trip to Canada? There are canal boat tours for those that visit without their own boat. Thanks so much for watching!😎
I had to look up “gongoozlers”…. what a great word! This area attracts many gongoozlers and during summer months they are all the way along the Rideau Canal. Thanks so much for watching!😎
Exceptional video today! I enjoyed all of your musical selections especially the Canadian national anthem. Your video tour or your home town was great!
Thank you so much Paul for your positive feedback.😊 We might be a little biased when showing parts of Ottawa but it is a beautiful city with lots of interesting things to see and do. Thanks for following our journey!😎
Hi Patrick, thanks for watching today’s episode. Due to the time it takes to produce each episode, in real-time we have always been ahead of the UA-cam videos. So **spoiler alert**, we have already crossed our wake! We will continue to post our journey along the Rideau Canal, to showcase this unique waterway and will share the completion of our loop near Kingston, ON. Thanks for following along!😎
It was a lovely video, well done! You made it sound like there is usually smoke in the air and there was a rare break from it the day you made the video, you never said where the smoke was coming from! Perhaps an oversight!
Hi Cindy and thanks for watching! Over a series of videos on our Great Loop adventure, we talked about the smokey skies coming from northern Ontario & Quebec. This was last summer (2023). That day we did get a break from the smoke but it persisted as we approached Kingston from Ottawa along the Rideau Canal. 😎
All good! We started our channel initially to share our journey with friends and family but it has grown. It’s good to get feedback for future episodes. We completed the trip last summer and now live on the West coast but return to Ottawa regularly to visit family. Have a great summer!
Did the buddy boat that travelled with you and now in Ottawa, do the loop? Curious if you remember the make and length of it. Imagine it would be marginal on some of the crossings.
Our buddy boat in this segment of the loop was indeed another looper and used a Rosborough, a trailerable “pocket trawler” which was 25 feet long. It is very seaworthy and fine for crossings. It can travel much faster than Stay Cool. The biggest issue for them was limited living space and lack of shower.

Really nice video. We have spent many a night docked in the downtown. It's a unique experience that all loopers should discover.

Love the rain shower at the end. Ottawa is a beautiful place.

Nice, showing off the hometown 🇨🇦🍁
Ya! It was fun to see Ottawa again, especially in June. Thanks for watching Elaine!😎

Another great video! I had the pleasure of visiting Ottawa a few times for business in the early 2000’s. I can’t wait to get back, this time by boat!

Nice docking spot. And great tour of Ottawa! Somehow we’ve missed it on our visits to Canada.

Yeah another great video. When do you expect to "cross your wake"?

@@staycool123 sorry, that was the first time your channel came up on my feed and I didn’t know you were doing a series.

I'm a retired Yank naval officer, but that doesn't prevent me from getting teary-eyed over "Oh, Canada."
Music can certainly create some emotions and we’re glad you like our national anthem! Thanks so much for watching CaptJohn!😎
