Still in disbelief that this guy is both a musician and a published author -- you're living my dream, man! Hope this channel lives on forever

Thanks so much! With the recent growth in this channel, I’ll be putting out more frequent content. I’m also looking into ways to upload my consciousness to the cloud so that the channel can actually live on forever and eventually consume the entire internet.

the 'mary had a little lamb' trick helped me SO MUCH !
im great identifying 7th chords, but i always stumbled with diminished and augmented ones. that trick really helps to figure it out quicker. thank you.

No problem! I actually made this video because, despite years of ear training, I still struggled with augmented vs diminished. I spent a few days researching tips and tricks and now it’s no problem. You can use similar things for other chords. I’m always singing little scale fragments over the top of chords to see what they are.

      @@joeluegersmusicacademy same !!
i didnt know about actually SINGING MELODIES in the chords, i only knew that for intervals. usually i could just 'feel' what chord it was (if that makes sense), but i had issues with these two.
thank you so so much, for real !

My idea for his channel came when I was looking for an ear training video for augmented vs diminished, and the only thing I found was something with an out of tune piano and basic PowerPoint stills.

    Love your stuff Joe.
I love diminished and augmented chords too.
They each have their purpose because they are both dissonant and demand resolution. I may have to consider ending a song without the resolution, because people will resolve it faster r themselves.

Thanks! Here’s an idea. End a song on a diminished or augmented chord, and then the next song on the album/performance starts on the chord’s resolution.

I don't remember those words-diminished or augmented, but I can hear minor and major chords. Thanks, interesting lesson.
