Ah you finally got DCC. trust me, you won’t regret it. The only annoying thing is having to buy the decoders to go in them but that’s about it. DCC is just so great and you picked a very nice looking train set to get into DCC. very nice video mate 👍👍 and she also sounds great. I would love to get an American engine with sound.
Yup, I’ve made the right choice to finally buy a DCC train set. As for buying a decoder? I won’t really do that much, or almost not at all. Lol. There is something you can do that’ll let you run both DC, and DCC on your layout. You just gotta do a small bit of wiring which I definitely plan on doing to my layout eventually. :)
I’ve noticed that bachmanns DC and especially the DCC without sound diesels are very Noisy. Definitely glad to hear this isn’t the case with this sound value loco
I have been eyeing this set because it has the controller and DCC with sound onboard. I also have been eyeing the digital commander set that comes with two power locomotives and DCC set up with controller but neither locomotive has sound but it does have a siding with manual switch. So I'll buy both, sell one controller for 100 bux which is way cheaper than close to 200 for one Bachman DCC controller and buy some extra track with that money. Then I will have 3 powered engines and one with sound that will make plenty of noise when they are running and can buy some cars. Yep, I'm addicted already and have bought nothing.
After searching around, this set seems to be the best value from Bachmann for DCC with sound. I've seen the controller alone priced higher then this set.
You can buy B units from most manufacturers but I'd say grab a Bachmann unit to keep it all the same, just know that the B unit you get will be of higher grade quality than the Toy version your set ships with and will be pricey (Not too bad). You can get either a powered B unit or a dummy version which is basically an unpowered rolling stock version but completes the look. DCC offers a whole new world of hobby train functions as well as the overrated sound nonsense. You'll have fun with it for sure and the options of multiple units together really makes it shine.
Yeah, I do have a dummy b unit for another Santa Fe diesel I have, so I’m aware of those. I do know I have to keep it by Bachmann, too, so I’m now not too fussed on getting a B unit for this guy anymore. Lol
@@skylitejunction5589 I’ve got some that’s gone years without a single cleaning, and it’s barely even noticeable. The steel track I used to have would maybe last a month between cleaning
@@skylitejunction5589 yup. How have you liked the loco in this set? I’ve got the steam variant of the DCC with sound bundles and I think I’m going to get this set soon and put the DCC controller up for sale
Yeah, it’s pricy, my parents were like that too. I’m sure you can find it from other retailers that sell it cheaper. You can try TrainWorld.com but I never tried that site though.
Very nice set! Bachmann E-Z Commands are pretty good for locomotives equipped with Bachmann/Soundtraxx/TCS decoders. I've heard some people have issues running BLI and MTH Locomotives with E-Z command systems long term. I use an MRC Tech 6 Sound Controller 2.0 which can switch between DCC and regular DC operation and works well with my BLI K4s. Got it for $90 and I've been using it for almost 3 years!
I hate it when Bachmann train sets usally use the same F7 unit a box car a gondola/hopper and caboose. They rarely have sometging this isnt a circle or oval of track....
Yeah, it does kinda suck they keep doing that, but some of them are pretty good, even some of their 0-6-0’s they keep using. Yeah, they’re the same, but I still like them. Lol.
WOah! You got one! Looks like yours can stop which seems nice. I like the new track layout as well. I also have a question if you don't mind. What products do you use to maintain your locomotives?
Yeah, I finally have a DCC system. As to maintain them? That’s a good question. Unless you’re talking about controllers? I use a MRC tech 3 9500 for the outer line, and an ordinary Bachmann controller for the inner line. (Not talking about the E-Z track line. Lol) unless you’re talking about something else
Case moore and equipment for your house 🏡 for a couple hours I will have them send them back in time and they have to do the work on Monday morning to make a reservation at that location on Saturday night so that will help us get out and equipment to
I haven’t tried it with this diesel. I’m pretty sure you can, but do be careful when you’re running it on DC. You can do it, but there’s a chance of you blowing out that decoder. It never happened to me, and I refuse to experience it, but yeah, do be careful.
I can, but I’ll have to wait until I get a much better DCC controller. Cause 611 may have its default setting to its own running number, and I can’t reprogram it on this controller. So 611 will have to stay DC for a good while, unfortunately.
i love the f7s!! i dont really use non ballast track may i ask if you have code 100 or code 83 non ballast track the reason im asking is bc me and my dad are making a layout and we wanna know if non ballast track is good! also does this set have start up and shut down noise??
Yeah, it’s not a bad engine. I really like it. For non ballast, I use code 100. Code 83 works great too, but I use code 100 cause I like to run everything. Non ballast track is defiantly good, and as for start up and shut down noise. I don’t think it does. This is to help start out with DCC. Lol. Hope this helps.
Are you gonna mod the track to nog have the road bed and I never knew the bachmann controller didn’t have a screen displaying the numbers you pressed like the hornby one
I probably won’t rip the track off the roadbed on this one. The displaying screen isn’t really like Hornby’s select DCC controller. The Bachmann one has a writable pad where you can tell which engine’s programmed to a number.
@@skylitejunction5589 it's probably false and I heard that I can't get the n&w j class cause it's dcc and I only have normal witch I don't know if that would just be dc
