@@LilPackrat Thank you for replying! I have a new one from peak designs, i have not tried yet but I imagine you could just get it to grip I think? Have not had chance to give it a go yet. Going to work on a little project tomorrow.
Yes exactly :) I used the 1/4” screw (shown in the video) to screw on the quick release clamp. While the peak design version I used is discontinued (the new ones don’t have a screw hole in the back anymore) there are lots of quick release clamps that’ll work. Hope that helps!
Have you ever found that there isn't enough vertical room under the camera (Glide Gear says 27")? I am debating going with the Glide Gear OH75 that allows mounting on two tripods giving you unlimited flexibility. The downside is you don't have all the 1/4 20 mounts for accessories like the OH100.
Hi Jeff, vertical room has not been a problem for me when using my Tamron 17-28mm lens on a full frame Sony. When mounted on the OH100 I can even see the feet of the glide gear in the frame when I am at 17mm. Still it would be nice to be able to shoot taller products like backpacks so a bit more vertical space would be nice :) Hope that helps!
Hi! I used the Boling P1 light. To attach it, I used a Kamerar 7” Tough Friction Arm. The Boling P1 is an awesome little RGB light...since it has an adjustable arm built in I probably could have just used a little 1/4” male to 1/4” male screw instead of a friction arm :)
I use the SmallHD Focus and sometimes the SmallHD OLED 5.5” monitors. The SmallHD monitors are amazing - highly recommend - I’ve used other monitors like Feelworld and Atomos but the little SmallHD monitors with the swivel arm are currently my favourites
Hey, hi! Thanks for such a great review! I have a question for ya. (Keep in mind I am NOT a pro, not even close hahaha!) Is there an alternative quick release method for the camera? If so, how would you attach it? I'm a total newbie here.
Hi! The most affordable/common quick release system is called “arca swiss”. You will need to attach the arca swiss plate to your camera (in the video my camera had one of these plates on the bottom) then the plate fits into any arca swiss compatible quick release. Tons of options on Amazon but my favourite is “Andoer CL-50LS Aluminum Alloy Quick Release Clamp” because it’s fast and relatively cheap. The only downside to this clamp is that there is no safety latch so just make sure the camera is secure before letting go...and I also wouldn’t use something super heavy with this. Another common but more expensive option is the Manfrotto 323 rapid connect :) Another option is actually the Peak Design CapturePro Clip I used - though it’s discontinued I see Amazon.com has 11 left - this is the easiest option but make sure it’s the CapturePro model because the other Peak Design clips don’t have a 1/4” screw hole. Hope that helps!
Sorry for the long message! I’ll add that any of this quick releases will attach to the overhead rig via the 1/4” on the rig...so the quick release just needs a 1/4” screw hole which all have (some are 3/8” but typically come with a 3/8” to 1/4” adapter)
@@LilPackrat That's super helpful, thank you so much! I'm actually starting a cooking channel on a different account. There's just so much to learn with all the tech. I've got a Sigma 30mm 1:1.4 lens. With this setup do you think I can make due with that for now?
Ooh the sigma lenses are amazing! A 30mm is a great choice :) my first lens was the 35mm f1.8 for a Sony APSC camera. Let me know your cooking channel - I’d love to check it out!
good for b roll but if you're doing 2 cameras at the same time, with the one facing you, you can see that overhead thing in your way. Not a good setup if you want to shoot everything all at once.
Ya great point! I have shot straight on with the lens pointing through the glide gear before (this video: ua-cam.com/video/bTq_mRHz6Vk/v-deo.html) but I had to shoot more of a closeup than usual
Love it thank you
what is the brand name of the cold shoe mount you're using to attach your monitor onto the Overhead mount OH100? let me know
This is a fantastic video. Thankyou! Do you know if the new capture clips from peak design will work like how you have set up?
The new ones unfortunately don’t have the tripod mounting hole in the back!

Also bought this based off your review. Thank you!
Thank you so much, great info. I've got one coming, should be here tomorrow.
How did you attach the quick release clamp? Is it screwed in underneath?

This is exactly what I was looking for to do overhead shots. Were the L-brackets and clamps for suspending a seamless paper backdrop included?
Ah yes! I forgot those came with the rig since I don’t use them but yes it did come with 2 L brackets and 2 clamps :)

You can also flip the camera attachment, so it is up in the air above the bar (vs below the bar). It gives a couple more inches of height.
Great video! What light did you use and what did you use to hold the light?

This was very useful..thanks!!
