Thanks for the video. Can you elaborate a bit on the chiller and the HV cooling section in general? Like what temp does the car think is ideal for the HV coolant and at what temp this chiller is activated during charging? Any additional info you can offer is greatly appreciated. It's just about impossible to find elsewhere.
Thank you for the video! With the 2020 Escape Hybrid / PHEV, could you talk a bit about the Pedestrian Notification system and the awful noise that comes out of some speaker that is in the front end somewhere? Can you show people what it sounds like? I think the underbody skirting traps all that fake noise and it filters into the passenger cabin .. And drives this occupant crazy !!!!
Thanks. This is probably a lot like my Maverick hybrid I've ordered and have yet to receive. All sorts of info on the little details of the truck but not much on the practicalities of the drivetrain. The hybrid system is totally clever I just hope it's reliable. Tinkering on it is not going to probably happen.
I'm close to purchasing a Titanium here in SoCal. Did you notice the traction motor/inverter with the Aisin Seiki stamp? Im trying to match with the Rav 4 Prime HSD unit to see any build differences. Also, I've heard Ford is going to copy the Toyota 4 wheel system only using a YASA unit in the rear---heard anything?
Thanks for the great video. I feel that the plastic covers are not enough to protect the thermal and electrical systems of the battery. What do you think?
The charge unit (hanging very low) at 1:55 now seems reinforced with the black metal plate cover. I have a 2020 phev and they had no protection and the charge units are damaged easy. Good they fixed it. Bad they were lazy and placed an electronic charge unit protruding under the car right behind the front wheel...
@@RedneckCam666 Replacement of the charger unit (1:55) hanging low in foront of the battery is 1200 usd only. Any fuel savings the phev provides will be spent on expensive repairs instead.
In your review, it looks like 2022 Escape 2022 has a plastic shield. My car [platinum built] came with a fabric like a felt at thr bottom. Do you know why this one has plastic?
thank you for the video. that aluminium bar is for protecting the charger module (secondary module you pointed out, passenger side). People accidentally driving over debris or footpath will break that module killing the functionality. This is a quick fix to address this :) Do you think it needs any rust inhibitor coating like Bo shield? i see lot of plastic covering
@@harisasidhar Thank you very much. You seem to have the car for a while, is it overall a reliable car? I am considering it but very litter information on reliability. Many thanks!
So far they have been very reliable. Personally I would NOT consider it as it would be very expensive for me to have a Level 2 charging station installed due to my parking location vs the location of my Breaker Panel. If I could have a charger relatively cheap, Yea I would consider it. Level 1 Charging just would not be acceptable for me as its way too slow. If I were you, I would get an estimate on the charger before committing to buy any Plug in vehicle
Would be interesting to know how much for the charger install.Mine would be about $15K. My choices for getting the wiring to where it needs to be are to rip up a finished basement or trench around the house
Got a Ford Kuga Phev 2021, we had already a 230v 1-phase wire leading to garage, so it cost me about 400€ to replaced a wall socket and put a charger there instead (Defa Solid). I suppose you have long distances and 3-phase requirements due to lower voltages, but your price sounds hard to swallow.
Thanks for sharing this video. Very informative. Undercarriage, suspensions, drivetrain, those are my favorite

Yes I agree it is a terrible loud noise and let’s Ford and the car down.

The battery in the Maverick is a lot smaller

The covers are there for aerodynamics

Yea , I've replaced a few damaged ones at $3500 a pop. The last one I did also damaged the high voltage cable & battery header...$ 23000

do know what the part number on that metal plate that goes around the sodbm?
Hi! Thank you for the decent video, I would like to watch a video Ford Explorer Hybrid 3.3 L Bottom View, Thanks
Very good over view. Do you about how many amps run in those orange wires? I fear amps more then volts.
400V+ can kill you when you have a big reserve like a battery pack or a transformer
thanks for the video! Is water pump belt driven or electric motor driven?
electric
Good

its the same as you describe

I'm thinking those shield covers will ultimately prevent a lot of potential rust.

That metal bar is only to protect on board charger which is in front of battery right underneath passenger seat

This has been a very problem prone vehicle in the past...Any improvement made since then ?
Compleatly different design
Where is the pedestrian alert ? I want to muffle it.
We can put this in the maverick
The layout looks similar, maybe in the future
Why would that connector "save your life"???
It cuts high voltage from the HV battery, 450V can kill you!
Incredibly complex - I would not be owning one of these outside of the warranty
When the Hybrid Battery goes out in 8 years it likely won't be a DIY replacement unfortunately...
