I'm the only guy in Seattle crazy enough to do this. I can't express how helpful you and this German guy have been. I'm confident I would have figured it out, but there was a lot of good pointers in here that I now don't have to learn the hard way! Thanks brother, hit me up if you wanna shoot the shit on this. I don't encounter guys who actually understand the content of all key programming is the alteration of solid state data on either the key, the vehicle or, most often, both
do you have to make a dealer key when you have an original working key and just want to program another key from dealer to have a second one for the car? when is making a dealer key usually needed?
A dealer key is a pre-generated key for your vehicle. Normally when you purchase a key from the dealer it will be pre-configured to your vehicle. Doesn't help much if you don't have Cs code to add the key in the first place. But that's where the term comes from. Before you program a key you gotta pre code it and that's making a dealer key. So when you ask if you will have to make it into a dealer key when it comes from the dealer the answer is no. I just had someone buy a key from a dealer giving them the VIN thinking it wouldn't need to be programmed into the vehicle. But it did need programmed it was just already generated into a dealer key. I know because it failed to generate into a dealer key but is still programmed.
I have to say you have mad skills. HOWEVER I run a vw audi repair shop. We have the factory tool. I can order 2 keys from vw for maybe 140 each. We charge 210 to program. Takes legit 20 min tops. No disassembly. I have had cars come in that needed something replaced that was tied to the immobilizer, like the ECM. And, because a locksmith hacked the immobilizer, NOTHING will program that's related to the immobilizer. So now, customer needs 2 real keys, a new cluster, and a new ECM. The vw and Audi tool will only let you replace ONE component tied to the immobilizer at a time. So ot makes it very tricky.
Thanks for the compliment! It sounds like you really know your stuff. Running a VW Audi repair shop with the factory tool gives you a great edge! I can see how those situations with hacked immobilizers can become a real headache. When multiple components are tied to the immobilizer, it definitely complicates things, especially with the strict programming requirements. It’s tough when a quick fix turns into a full replacement scenario for the ECM, cluster, and keys.Your process of ordering keys and programming them efficiently is impressive 20 minutes with no disassembly is a great service for your customers!
What kind of key do you use for programming? Autel or other? With Autel key prepared, i got a problem: possible to start car with start button, but keyless entry not working and remote control buttons also not working...
Ok I got it now. The part about different ways to get the 32 digit code was what was throwing me off. It comes down to all the different ways are just different 3rd parties. I was under the impression that you were able to get the number without them.

I asked before, and watched the MQB videos, but at no point did you explain where the 32 digit code came from. Was it the Autel or a third party?
Did you alzó read the comments I left of that video?
🤔 inquiring minds want to know..
@@globalcommerce7654, maybe I'm not seeing the right video. What was the name of it? I've watched 3 MQB vids from you so far.
