I been listening to so many rappers that died in the last 5 or so years. Gee Money, Von, Pop, XXX, Duck, Pappy, LA. Nothing hit me like Vons death. I can't imagine how much harder it must be for people who knew Von personally and grew up with him. Shit here I am.. 5 months on, still watching videos of Von every damn day, checking his old IG posts when he was alive..
My whole idea about why it hurts so much is because everyone knows how much shit Von got into in Chicago growing up. Everyone knows he's not some innocent person. In fact, he's disrespectful as fuck to dead people. Everyone knew that. But it was ALL Chicago based. All them diss songs, all the crime... all of it was Chicago gang related shit.
The fact that he survived all that bullshit in Chicago to die to the pettiest damn beef in a different state is the bit that really hits me. Like if he died in Chicago like Duck.. it's like, yeah, that was expected. But to die the way he did to some petty shit? It hurts.
