as an arsonist, this really helped me fall asleep easier. Thanks Hozier!

Awww, its so nice to find someone from thw same community ✌😇✌

Ha, we pyromaniacs need to stick together.

Hozier has mastered the technique of singing songs in a way that can feel really powerful or delicate and fragile depending on how you feel. Genius.
To me, it feels like watching something like the Godfather. Like how Michael is always so cool and composed, but you can see that there's a hidden energy or fury behind the calm.
Im glad im not the only one
I didn’t know ice till you said it. But I e felt all three lissiening to this song before
This song has always had an air of quiet composure, mixed with sinister, even murderous undertones. Even the title befits the way the song is structured It peaks your curiosity, and makes you just a little bit uncomfortable, as all great art should. Hozier and Shawn James are changing the game, and so many people are barely even noticing (except for Take Me to Church and Through The Valley which both got A LOT of attention)
@@v0rteks644 perfect description. also reminds me of someone finally owning the darkness they so often neglect. Reminding themselves and everyone else of the chaos and the slaughter that's bound to come. Realizing the the chill that everyone else feels fear makes you smile . villain book vibes idk
I was typing in Hozier and my tablet tried to correct it to 'Holier-than-thou.'
Hey, if it works, it works.
L. C. Simmons you so close to listening to another awesome song, Metallica - Holier than thou

I don't know what it is but Hozier has something that nowadays is kinda weird to find. His songs for a moment seem basic and common but the moment you pay attention to the lyrics you'll find that they are deep as hell.

@@lubnas6539 That's what I thought about too
I know he didn’t mean it like this, but as someone who was diagnosed with OCD at 16 (I’m 24 now) this song makes me feel so incredibly seen. “At 16 my senses fooled me
Thought gasoline was on my clothes
I knew something would always rule me
I knew the scent was mine alone” gets me every damn time.
He only very briefly touches the grand apex of the song (at 3:13). It comes on so slowly and he only addresses it for one line of one verse, then goes back down slower. It's like he knows only touching the climax of the song so briefly makes the moment special, rather than dwelling there and rinsing the riff until you get numb to it. Still I would love to have heard more of it.
Wow what a beautiful way to say it
it's like fire.
touch it for too long and you get burned.
It's the best part of the song

LYRICS
When I was a child, I heard voices
Some would sing and some would scream
You'll soon find you have few choices
I learned the voices died with me
When I was a child I'd sit for hours
Staring into open flames
Something in it had a power
Could barely tear my eyes away
All you have is your fire
And the place you need to reach
Don't you ever tame your demons
But always keep them on a leash
When I was 16 my senses fooled me
Thought gasoline was on my clothes
I knew that something would always rule me
I knew this scent was mine alone
All you have is your fire
And the place you need to reach
Don't you ever tame your demons
But always keep them on a leash
When I was a man I thought it ended
When I knew love's perfect ache
But my peace has always depended
On all the ashes in my wake
All you have is your fire
And the place you need to reach
Don't you ever tame your demons
But always keep them on a leash

No amount of words can describe the powerful feeling this song gives me
Am I crazy or is the Humming in the Beginning so god damn Soothing like I can sleep to that if it wasn’t for the beat on the drums.
With how much metal I listen to, I’ve gotten fairly desensitized to loud stuff like that. It’s very calming compared to my usual music. In fact, this song is actually in my sleeping playlist.
I love it all, I agree it’s so soothing
it perfectly fills all the empty space in my brain, it feels grounding :)

oh this man... he slays me with his haunting voice plus the music, pure genius!
Male Lana del Rey
+Rubi B Lacroix Umm... No. Lana can't sing for shit and has like 0 talent with instruments. Hozier does. They may be same music genre but don't compare them...
***** She shows so poor skill at singing... Seriously, mate. She's an awful singer. Yeah, she plays the guitar but you cannot say she's an AWESOME guitar player like Hozier. I mean, she sings like a zombie. xD And I don't know what does that have anything to do with the fact that I'm not a pro singer. OF COURSE I'm not. I don't sing, I don't care. But I appreciate good music. Just saying pure truth. Lana del Rey is NOTHING compared to Amy Winehouse or Michael Jackson, just to give some examples...
If Lana Del Ray die in like mentioned singers, you will become fan of her and you(not only you) will tell that she was the pretty, awesome, talented singer. Absolutely, Genius one.

I Will Never Forget This Song. I first heard it in The Walking Dead Season 6 Trailer, And a few years later looked up this song & I absolutely love this song and My God does this song give me massive Nostalgia from back in the good old days when everything was happier 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016… Man was those the best years ever for me, This song just radiates nostalgia about those years & when I watched the walking dead season 6 trailer which has this song in it lol. Man… I Wish We Could go back in time, I would’ve stayed there forever…
Hozier, this song right here is one of my all-time favorites. I didn't "find" it through Walking Dead. This song "found" me. I listen to this stuff when I'm getting ready for a shift. It primes me. It sharpens me. Great music is eternal. This song sings in my Soul.
I first heard this song in the Walking Dead season 6 trailer and I loved it but never looked the song up until a few years later, and my god does it give insane nostalgia from when I saw the season 6 trailer for the first time but also gives me nostalgia of the good old days which for me was 2013, 2014, 2015, & 2016… I feel like everything was just so much happier back then Not just for me but society & people to, There wasn’t all this…. “Stuff” going on in the world & society like there is now. If we could go back to that time… I’d never leave…
This was just on TWD the other day! I was like yay! They're playing Hozier! Love this song :)
The walking dead season 6 trailer is how I found this song & just from the trailer I loved this song, I forgot about it for a few years but I’ve discovered it again, the nostalgia it hits me with every time I listen to it, it reminds of the Walking Dead lol & My favorite years which were 2013, 2014, 2015, & 2016. Everything just felt happier back then… Not just me but everyone, people, society, even the outside world and the sky just felt & looked brighter idk but if we could go back in time, I’d stay there forever…
this is in The Originals 2x05 too
Getting some serious Azula energy from this. I mean WHOA.
Some may see this song as badass or dark, but when I hear these words, I am reminded. Reminded of what I have to do. What I will always have. My passion, my fire. My dreams, the place I have to reach. My demons are the part of me that rages against the dying of the light. While I can’t let myself lose control, I can’t lie down. Not yet. Not yet...
I will never lie down. Not until I reach the end of this long road ahead of me. I will never lose the fire in my heart. It’s all I have.
Now c’mon demons, let’s show the world we won’t be tamed, even if we can’t break free of this leash.

Luke 12:49 I am come to send FIRE ON EARTH; and what will I, if it be ALREADY KINDLED?
Hebrews 1:7 Now about the Ang'ELS he says "He make his Ang'ELS wind and SERVANTS FLAME OF FIRE"

Masterful in EVERY way! Somehow it feels so mellow and calming, a couple pops of metal riffs to grab your attention back, then the lyrics grab you like a jockstrap full of fish hooks and won't let go! This is pure talent and PERSONAL enjoyment we're seeing here. The almost scary part? This is his COMFORT zone. None of this is a challenge to him vocally... When he finally cuts that power he's holding back loose, they may have to scrape all of us off the floor -- again! ❤🔥

To take my wings and give them back to me
Oh Lord feel my pain in my heart
Always keeping it on the sheets

He really spoke to me in this song. What I got from the song is that when we were younger or at least I’ll take from my personal experience when I was younger and still to this day to a certain level there was a power there was something that we all felt when we were younger and I think for him it was looking into a fire but I think we can all relate with that there’s a power within that there literally is a power within that and I think when we get older we lose everything we lose our powers as well as our fire and we also as we get older we close ourselves off from good and bad although we don’t realize a lot that we think is bad can be good as long as it’s trained or trained
The only thing that would make this better is a music video! If this is the next single, I'm hype.
Can't get enough of this song. The lyrics really speak to me. Two thumbs up.
