Far better structured medley than a lot of the grade 1 bands. Not on the same level as FMM, Inverary, boghall etc but do not deserve to finish where they did.

I guess that’s what makes the world go around, differences in opinions. All bands can’t be number one, but they made their attempt and did very well in my opinion. In recent years FMM has been a very consistent winner, they are a great band, but they don’t always win, they blew the attack in 23. They are all very tight, but someone has to be first and someone has to be last and usually on a tight point separation. Me, I give them a thumbs up!

@@byoh100 the problem is the established bands get beat with the feather duster and the rest get beat with the big stick.
Fm won the MSR with that shitty start.
Not exactly right in my opinion.
Any other band would have been crucified.
Yes everyone has an opinion but sadly bands need judged on their performances and not an opinion.

@@JD2747 there you have it, the judgement of a performance is an opinion. Those opinions are supposedly based on rules, but as we know rules are made to be broken. Some judges opinions involve pipe band politics and some are honest and truthful. From what I gather and from what I know, pipe band and solo judging is pretty much similar around the world.
It really is common understanding that a bad attack and/or a bad cutoff in Grade 1, will get you a last place finish and that been so for decades. I have played in pipe bands for years and the highest grade I’ve played was Grade 3. Have you ever competed in a pipe band contest? I’ve seen bad judging and I’ve seen the score sheets written by bad judges, but some are excellent. Like any other grade, there is a variation of quality within Grade 1, that’s why there is only one Champion Supreme. Just my $0.02.
