  • This was a reconnaissance drive to see if this road was in adequate condition for an upcoming Aston Martin Owners Club drive. Google Street view is incomplete on this road, so I had to verify it. For this I took my wife's DBX since I figured it could handle any trouble spots. Ends up this road is a really, really nice drive! It's a hidden gem in the Hill Country with lots of tight curves and beautiful scenery. The low-water crossing isn't too bad, but you'd want to be careful if it has rained recently as it could easily flood.
    In this video I drive the road from both directions. First from the Dripping Springs end and then from the Blanco end. I think going south is the better direction. It's so twisty that my average speed was only 35-40mph, and you really have to be careful around the blind turns.
    What you see is the raw footage (with text overlays added) from the Garmin Dashcam Mini. It's 3rd or 4th generation video by the time you see it on UA-cam, so the quality is a tiny bit degraded.

    Did you have the polarizing filter on? Thanks for the video. Nice drive!

      No, that was in my wife's car and I never put the polarizer on her Garmin.

    After your informative and warts-n-all DBX review I was looking for an update on how the DBX is working out for you both.
    Do please let us know, particularly interested in the seats and whether they are up to snuff?
    This looks a cracking drive btw.
    Cheers Bill

      Well, the car drives great and we really do like it, but every time I walk into the garage and see it I wonder why we bought it. It seems like every other luxury SUV out there has a million more modern features than this. Even the new Jeep grand Cherokee at less than $70,000 has way more features and technology. That being said, it has been a very reliable car, and it does get a lot of attention everywhere it goes. For me, the seats are incredibly uncomfortable, and every time I’m the passenger I spend the entire time fidgeting with the seat trying to get it right, and I never can. The driver seat is a little less awful, but for an SUV these sport seats seem rather inappropriate.

      @@BrianGreenstone still the best looking SUV imho, though the tech deficit does make the F Pace SVR seem like a more practical alternative! I only hope the new fella from AMG can prize open the MB tech cabinet for the DBX refresh. When you look at the first iterations of DB 11 and recent Vantage, they both had a lot wanting. DBX appears to have been launched similarly short.

    Any plans to try out the mini 2? I'm probably gonna get one for my Civic but I'm curious about the parking mode in the newer version

    Hi have you managed to sort out the overheating issue? Any advise on making a purchase for installation in an electric vehicle? Kind regards Raj

      Not yet, but I’m still testing out the one in my wife’s DBX. We have a smaller memory card in that one.

    Hi Brian, do you have the polarised lense cover on for this video or not?

    • @BrianGreenstone
      @BrianGreenstone  3 роки тому

      No, I didn’t get one for the Garmin in my wife’s car. You can tell, eh? Lots of glare.

      @@BrianGreenstone Yeah there is some glare especially in direct sunlight but overall a cracking little dashcam. Thats why I have them in my cars. Thanks!
