- Ted Turner’s WCW might have given WWF a run for its money in the Monday Night Wars on television, but while Raw and Nitro duked it out on a pretty even footing in the late 90s the same can’t be said for WCW’s efforts on the original PlayStation. Five games, and they were all pretty much tripe. Or at the very least not the best wrestling games ever made. Ah well, here’s a look at WCW on PS1.

I did read somewhere years ago that Backstage Assault was a creation of EA seeing Power Stone and telling the devs "do that" with an engine blatently not capable of doing so.
I remember reading that somewhere too, someone was definitely a bit over ambitious.
I want to feel good that someone saw a Capcom game, Power Stone especially and was so enthused he wanted to replicate it... but with these results, that is a tall and mighty order.
@@goranisacson2502 Quite a few games ripped the premise off, the N64 Tom and Jerry game, War of the Whiskers was definitely one.
I think 80 to 90% of my memories of 90s and 00s wrestling was formed by video games rather than the actual shows.
WCW vs the world is great and no one talks about it.
yes, the Def Jam Vendetta (and maybe FFNY) could be included because not only did those two come from the same studio, but both were built on the AKI engine and Vendetta was literally the next WCW game that was gonna release. The game was so far into development that once they made the switch to a rapper brawling game, they had to keep the wrestling rings as a base for all the stages if I remember correctly. (new sub btw)
uniquely diverse and amusing as usual Mr B
There's footage on UA-cam somewhere of the scrapped Mayhem 2 model for Booker T with his voice over.
Best intro ever lol
Mayhem was good but holy shit backstage assault was rushed and shit
Tony who?
5th gen 3D is absolute LULZ graphics.
stop saying WCW
Put some respec on Alex Wright's name.
Oh big bratwurst
*REEESPEEEEC*
Mad respec for Alex Wright, the German, who shows us high-flying acrobatics and total wrestling action - it all leads to a hell of a wictory. And what an exciting spin he does!
Genuinely used to pick him in Nitro and just do the dance taunt as much as possible.
he will take us to one HELL of a victory, i PROMISE
