Great stuff. I was standing at the side of the road for 4 of those performances. Surreal to see the speed and the effort required to dominate the race. 👍🏴☠️❤️
Nice video and 100% with your picks. Best part was your video is a super reminder of how good the 2022 “pre-season” was. Cycling fans are lucky to be able to see this. Greate summary.
Yates is definitely one of the best GC guys at the moment. I honestly think he could beat Roglic but Poggy is just ridiculously good. Poggy is first rider since the old days where he can literally do everything. Gone are the days when GC guys were climbers and OK TT riders. Now you got poggy clapping sprinters on flat and being better than Mvdp on cobbles and is one of the best TT ers and the best climber.
Cool video as always, thanks. Have you ever thought about doing some sort of explainer video on things like normalized power versus average power and why that sort of thing matters? I think there are a lot of people out there, myself included, who have only a vague understanding of why these kinds of metrics matter, and would love to hear your distinctive take on them.
Naichaca includes all that in his calculations, it's partly cause he was fresh at the start. And sometimes they can compare what they calculate to other riders strava data to get a idea if it's accurate.
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
I love your videos, however for some reason I found it a little difficult to understand you this video. There are moments where you aren't articulating really clear or like your teeth are always clenched, and I think you shouldn't try to do so much with the foreign names as you are doing now, its okay to say it a little anglophonized.
Cookie man deserves to be on this list. He retired and all of a sudden can push these wkg just riding solo with no UCI points on the table. 7.54wkg for 5 mins and talking to the camera just 10 seconds later whilst cracking jokes. Then a few minutes later smashing out more 400w+ climbs.
He is specificly training for this and not trying to ride 4h + efforts. I bet if any of the current pros would try the KOMs fresh they would smoke phil. Not to take away anything from his efforts but dont make it sound like he is doing some unreal stuff
Importantly where are these numbers coming from? it seems like they could be far out from the real values quite easily. how are you getting the weight of the riders from when they start these efforts and or the power data to back it up. if the power is predicted and the weight is just google stats then this whole list is a shambles

How accurately do you guys think you know the riders' respective weights?
And slotting in as the top honorable mention is yours truly on his Zwift trainer. 3 w/kg for 10 minutes. Insane numbers and performance. :-)
Steffen Andersen Sahl is a very Tour de France name 👀
Absolute beast.
"Enemy" 😂 That Vine loss at Besseges still stings I see. 👀
10 Jan Hirt 1:20
9 Aleksander Vlasov 2:54
8 Adam Yates 3:30
7 Brandon McNulty 4:13
6 Nairo Quintana 4:40
5 Nairo Quintana 5:52
4 Primoz Roglic 6:43
3 Michael Woods 7:55
2 Tadej Pogacar 8:55
1 Simon Yates 9:35
Legend, thanks. Have added these chapters now
what bikes are they using? aero bikes? all round bikes?
Great stuff. I was standing at the side of the road for 4 of those performances. Surreal to see the speed and the effort required to dominate the race. 👍🏴☠️❤️
Wow, sounds like an amazing experience
Yates effort particularly impressive given he was wearing slippers at the time! Must have forgotten to change when he got out of bed.

Just like Valentin Madouas, Jan Hirt had the Pog hair in the helmet, evidently it’s a maximal gain.
Merc should consider telling Hamilton to adopt it
How about Wout Van Aerts numbers?! Weighing 78kg compared to Yates his 59...
Disabled his power data on Strava :(
Would love to see the numbers WvA did behind Simon as he pulled Rogelio up that climb.
Disabled his power data on Strava :(
Big
Basically yeah, spot on - glad you put Yates at no. 1, was an unbelievable effort.
People who was worried about Roglic dropping need to stop underestimating Simon Yates. On his day, he can be the best in the world.
🤡
Yates is great on his day, but i cant see him droping Pogacar in the same way, it is a bit of a TDF warning for Roglic.
@@maxdonkersloot4264 he is absolutely right, what do you mean?

Yates is a one week GC rider. GT is too long for him, hes too inconsistent. He can be one of the best on a single day..
It's so good to see Nairoman still handing it out to the opposition.
Pogi on the kwaremont wins the most ridiculous looking climbing performance this year. The climbs so short I didn’t know if you would count it though…
Nairoman!
Si nairo ese día del cold de turini de la París Niza tiene las piernas de la Provence no habia sufrido

yeah simon looking dangerous for the giro
Absolutely amazing power outputs that these people can put out for such long periods. Very cool to see.
Keen for a complete 2022 video on this
And please don't leave out the Portuguese riders we all know they're the og thermobiblical
Yates is at an insane level
Yates shows moments of greatness... my jaw dropped when he kept Wout and Roglic off his wheel
Do you think that yates would have won paris nice of wout got dropped on that climb?
Can you make a video about the worst weather conditions that races have taken place in? I noticed it was snowing at 3:23
I have a feeling McNulty is gonna win something big this year
7,7w/kg for 7min. Woods is definitely no1
Makes 5 w/kg look like recovery. Absolutely mind boggeling
That's a tenth of a horse for 7 minutes
basically better than Froome era. When people were "outraged" by the huge numbers.
Can you do the same for sprinters please
Will Luke Plapp be GC contender one day? Can TT.
Great vid. Thanks.
You need to do another one of these
Outdone GCN once again
Also interesting: the VAM. Vertical Ascent Meters
Love videos like this
Platt 6.6w/kg for 25min seems insane. Has Pogacar ever done that? Are you taking into account possible wind and draft effects?
Probably not be even a watt less is still only 2 away from a horsepower
Naichaca includes all that in his calculations, it's partly cause he was fresh at the start. And sometimes they can compare what they calculate to other riders strava data to get a idea if it's accurate.
Pippo Ganna up Jebel Jais, sticking with the climby boys all the way to the top
You mean Irishman Pip O'Ganna?
@@ThisIsANameBruh Absolutely my favourite GCN commentary of all time 😂
Paris nice stage 8 best race day so far in my opininon
Tadej Foccacia is my favorite Russian Bread.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
shouldnt wouts performance at Col d Eze be the most impressive? His ability to be only 20 seconds slower than Simon Yates is just crazy.
plus the fact that he had been pulling a lot on the front for roglic all day. His performance is more impressive for me, no doubt
Pls give Jan Hirt some good team for any of big tours...either he can win stage or take top 8
Inconsistent, his jebel hafeet performance was terrible
Yeah mike woods!
👑 Yates
Climbing is the Most Satisfying part of the Cycling!!!
please make a new one here after the tdf
Ni pogacar a llegado a esos casi 6,7 de nairo en el 2020 en el monvenx
Do you think this crazy Watts per Kg ,is natural possible ?
No Phil Gaimon KOMs in the top 10..? Neither he nor Durianrider will be pleased. 😂
Didn't he do 7.5w/kg for 11-12 minutes on one of those?
surely if wout held the gap, and wout weighs 10-15kg more than yates, his wpkg must have been bonkers?
His raw watts would be mad but on a per kilo basis it’ll be a little lower.
Bicycle
dammit
Bice
Pgacar does not get one for his performance at the Tour of Flanders? Boo!
Steak
@12:20 so light blue cycling shorts aren't really ideal for male cyclists, I see...
Le Coq sportif
Would you consider a collab with cyclocosm?
Surely LR has been a type of apprentice to Cosmo/Cosmo “pioneered” the idea of unique commentary style. Not criticising LR.
Gesbert is pronounced jey ber

Like 6:38 to 7:00 sounds muffled or clenched, and to 7:20 sounds very good again
Might just be me

Phil gaimon
Tell me you're still mad he dropped you up norton summit without telling me you're still mad he dropped you up norton summit lol
@@lorenzmeier2228 so his WR everesting on a slow course was a short effort? He did 4.25wkg for 8 hours bro..#notnormal
Motoring does sound like a verb for mechanical doping, just saying

There is a link with a blog post under the video, feel free to comment there about the calculations ;)
Would love to know what they're pumping into their bloodstream. Not a single athlete can be clean with such a performance.
