The amp is a Tyler Amps JT14, which sounds similar to a vintage Fender Princeton but with a little more low end and body!

One of the reasons the Iridium sounds considerably better is that you always have the Strymon much louder than the Joyo. Fletcher-Munson in full effect here!
It's reasonable to have different expectations for a $200 pedal compared to a $400 one. However, it can be a bit frustrating when reviews seem unfair. This might happen if a reviewer's personal preferences influence their opinion, or if they're more accustomed to using higher-end gear, which naturally produces better tones more easily.
Strymon = overpriced.

I have a Marshall rackmount 9004 pre based on the 900 series. And this Joyo comes close enough on its 900 setting that it gets a cigarillo.
And in tone testing between the two I had to open them both up with master volumes at 5 or above. They had personality at lower volume but after that it was game over. Time for heads to headbang and roll.
Chug doom and thrash riffs galore. And plenty of sustain decay/feedback testing.
The neighbors and the neighborhoid dogs must've been thrilled.
the only explanation i can think of for the volume difference is that the joyo sounded better and had to be handicapped
I got a joyo American sound pedal recently just to see how good they were and now it’s my go to , They seem well built as well

Strymon was much louder in the test, it was not a fair rewiew or reasonable.
Exactly, the mastervolume was set much higher on the strymon.

You had the master on the Joyo too low. You gotta open up that pre. I have one. Turn up the master. Turn down the lower vol.

You are very right , it gives a very bad compare !! I don't think he knows so much about audio engineering the video sound is also very low

I literally had to turn my speakers half as loud for the Strymon sounds and twice as loud for the Joyo. I don't get it.

The Strymon does the whole hog -preamps, power amps, speakers, cabs, mics. The Joyo does *some* of that - no power amp sim (for starters). But you can get the NUX Solid Studio to pair with it, that'd be killer. It offers a LOT for the $$. I'd maybe take the Joyo+NUX over the Iridium, but I've never played through an Iridium, so I don't know for sure. I do kinda hate Strymon, so that may play a role...

Hmmm interesting combination Joyo+Nux. If that's the combo where should you put the time based effects; Nux -> time based + Joyo or Nux -> Joyo -> time based inside joyo's fx loop?
Cool comparison, Aaron! I do think the PH sounds a little quieter and more compressed overall. I would be interested to see you try a head to head Fender comparison between the Iridium and the Joyo American Sound.

I have Just Bought the Joyo and I'm well impressed, I have had Strymon in the past,but thought it was over rated...
I don't think this is a fair comparison at all,the levels are wrong , The Joyo is not as loud.Is there a reason you done this? 🤔
Nope lol just a human error. The iridium was a borrow. So everyone can take it or leave it 🤷🏽♂️

I really like seeing competition in the market place. And this Joyo is a good start. Iridium is the premium product is most aspects.....and i hope in the future it will have an effects loop and DI out. Competition is what usually brings about change...so i hope Iridium will change. (I own an iridium). Joyo is a great product for a lot of the market place. IN Canada the price of a Joyo is pushing 1/3rd the cost of an Iridium....money talks. Bottom line....great to see good value in the market place.....keeps everyone honest.

Looks and sounds to me like you were still on the Fender sound while comparing it to the Iridium Vox. Light should have been blinking when you changed amp sounds and it wasn't. Probably cause you changed the amp profile while still in bypass mode.
It was a vox Sound. Just not the pedal’s strong suit

how do you connect both pedals to the amp? To fx loop or amp front input?

Yea I gotta work at the direct stuff. For some weird reason it’s always hard to get the levels to be right compared to an amp demo.

Зачем ты joyo все время делаешь тише,задрал ,это не обзор ,во первых разница в цене в 6 раз,во вторых при нормальном уровне громкости joyo звучит не хуже и не фонит
Thank You for your video. Now I know I would prefer Iridium over PH. The Quality of the sound is perfect with Iridium.
