The NIOSH Lifting equation

With the Niosh Equation it is possible to evaluate tasks involving lifting. The result of applying the equation is the Recommended Weight Limit (RWL), which is defined as the maximum weight that it is advisable to lift under the conditions of the job in order to avoid the risk of low back pain or back problems. In addition, from the result of the application of the equation, an evaluation is obtained of the possibility of the appearance of disorders such as those mentioned above, given the lifting conditions and the weight lifted. The intermediate results obtained during the application of the equation serve as a guide to establish the changes to be introduced in the workstation to improve lifting conditions.
