  • CP 8845 leads train 281 north (RR west) over the 7 1/2 Mile Road railroad crossing between Caledonia and Oakwood, Wisconsin in Racine County on a rainy fall afternoon. Along with a "hockey stick" SOO, this train also has a New Orleans & Gulf Coast engine in its consist.

Thanks for your comments! I was surprised that the train caught you off-guard since you usually have your scanner and know when the trains are coming. Anyhow, you did well with this with your timing and filming. And VERY happy that you use a tripod since others do not which makes the videos hard to view. I love Wisconsin and have visited the state several times but not in the winter. My friend grew up in Whitewater and I love the House On The Rock near Dodgeville and all the dairy farms.

I counted 113 cars. Good job on a nice, rainy afternoon.

Another great video, Brenton, and thanks for sharing! Nice fall scene on a wet day and country road. I think this is the first video I have seen of yours that shows rain. Maybe we will see a new snow video or two soon? That would be nice.

Thank you. I had no intentions of really filming anything on this day. The train caught me totally off guard, but I figured I'd do my best to get ahead of it (which I did, luckily) and try filming in the rain for the first time. I think it turned out okay considering I only had enough time to jump out of the car, set up the tripod and hit record. I'll probably get a few videos with some snow in them this winter. Shouldn't be too hard to do here in Wisconsin.

Thank you! Yes, those are all for cars. They're called autoracks.

Yeah, same crossing. This train caught me totally off guard. I had to get ahead of it and I had limited choices of where to film. I barely had time to set up. I protected my camera by leaving the hatch up on my car and putting the camera and tripod under it. Seemed to work okay.

a CP locomotive with an E-Bell is rare, isn't it?

Typically anywhere between 1 to 2 miles long.

This looks like the same crossing where you filmed that speedy Amtrak train but not 100% sure on that.

+Doug Celeste It is indeed the same one! I filmed that Amtrak and the first Tech Train video at this location.

+Brenton81 Thanks for replying and confirming, Brenton! And that Amtrak horn may be the LOUDEST of them all!!! That video was interesting since you hear the horn in the distance and then there are a couple of seconds of quiet in the countryside before the horn sounds again in a deafening pitch and then the train speeds on by followed by sudden quiet again. Great video but then again, I enjoy all of your videos since I LOVE trains and have traveled in the beautiful state of Wisconsin and love the scenery (though I avoid winter travel there for obvious reasons).
