Perception is Reality | Diaz Dixon | TEDxReno

This talk acknowledges the challenges of preconceived notions and their impact our realities. Our individual realities are directly impacted by the perceptions of the world around us. Whether we like it or not, we each must manage our own worlds navigating through perceptions and preconceived notions.
Diaz is the Chief Executive Officer of STEP2 and has operated as a grant writer, consultant, and political advocate. He served for 4 years on the National Advisory Committee for the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation, currently the Treasurer of Nevada AADAPTS and served for four years as a consultant to the Cultural Competency and Diversity Network in Washington, DC. He served for four years an instructor for the University of Nevada Reno, sits on the Advisory Board for the KNPB, and the Community Re-Entry Program of Nevada. His most rewarding and challenging hours come volunteering as a SYFL coach along with Depoali Middle School and Damonte Youth Basketball.

Perception is reality is not meaning to say, that a reality based upon a perception is definite. It's a phrase comparing more than one individual point of view. Each person can perceive the same situation from many different perspective based on their experiences and cultural differences.. Etc, but for each of them their perception is THEIR reality.. Doesn't mean their reality is the truth.

To better clarify the process is as such. Belief has the power to cause a behavior. Knowledge also can cause behavior. Behavior causes consequence. Consequence is real no matter the origin it cane from made from facts or made in perception. One of these offers accurate and appropriate out come the other offers delusion. Reality is universal the fact that someone may be unaware of reality is still going to be bound by the conditions of that reality. When someone is unaware they are experiencing delusion it will be lived out in the mind only and reality dwellers will be unaffected by it. Belief cannot change fiction into non fiction.
