Loving these drinks! Phil Ward (Death & Co) who’s good friend is Garret Richardson did our full bar menu at Ebanos Crossing based on Tiki Mezcal cocktails years ago - it was truly original
Both cocktails sound delicious and with one called a Pineapple Cannon you know I’m definitely going to try it! I did make the dagger clone rum for the 1-2 SC Planters Punch as well as your gardenia mix, and they are delicious AF!! Cheers 🥂 🍹and Mahalo!
One of my local tiki bars has a drink with mezcal but the smokiness in that drink is overpowering. Your Pineapple Cannon looks great and has me thinking twice about having mezcal in a tiki drink.
If done right, it’s def great. But you can also swing the other direction, go overboard with the mezcal, or use the wrong one, and completely ruin a cocktail.
Some Mezcals aren’t as smoky as others. I love the smokiness so I tend to use El Silencio Espadín or Del Maguey Vida. Montelobos Joven is a very mellow mezcal with sublet hints of smokiness. You just have to find a Mezcal for your palate. Whatever you do, stay away from 400 Conejos. It’s made by Jose Cuervo so that should tell you all you need to know.
But also I can say that Im big fun of mezcal on my bar I have created mezcal with cognac old fashion that I use my own bitters and my own gave syrop that is insane good

I love anytime I can pair some Mexican flavors into tiki drinks, be it fruits or spirits. I'll have to give these a try!
