How hard was it to pop that pillar cover because mine is really fighting me when I try to remove it and I didn't wanna force it and risk breaking anything.
@jrhamilton4448 - It wasn't that hard for me. I started pulling out from the area closest to the front of the car. They are typical automotive panel clips holding it in, and they can require a bit of a tug to get them to pop. If you see in the video the location of the clips right above the cannister, just pull straight out in that general direction, toward the center of the vehicle.
@@emdavis197 ok thanks I think that's the key pulling from the front of the panel I tried pulling out and up from the center and it was really snug so I stopped.
Do you need trim removal tools or can the pillar be removed with just hands? Edit: I did it! Sound is gone now. Mine was the airbag clip broke. So I superglued it back and then taped it. Also just stuffed felt tape at the back of the airbag like in this video. Ah the peace! Next is getting rid of that damn middle dash trim rattle. Just a tip when removing these pillars, try to leave the last clip in place as this is a pain to get back in. You can still work on these issues with only the two clips removed.
hey, I have this insanely annoying rattle noise that comes from C-pillar, the passenger side. (same as yours.) What do you think the ultimate solution is? Adding some foams around the cylinder (so it does not hit any plastic part of C-pillars), or applying electrical type on the cylinder?
The electrical tape actually didn't help. Stacking a few of the felt pads between the metal airbag cylinder and the plastic cover panel cured it for me. Just enough felt or foam to have the plastic panel press up against the metal cylinder keeps it from vibrating.
for clarification, it is the felt pads that appear at 2:29. Stack these about 3 high directly on the metal air canister, then clip the plastic cover panel back on. The plastic panel should make contact with the felt pads and keep everything secure. I've had mine this way for several months and no rattle from that area.
Don’t you love spending 50k on a car and have to pull it apart to find rattles? I almost want to sell mine just to get rid of the rattle, It drives me that insane. I just like the car too much to do that
Yep, it is disappointing. Fortunately the C-Pillar rattle seems to be the most common rattle complaint that I've heard. I have 35k miles now and no other major complaints on mine.
@@emdavis197 I have 15k on mine and the c pillar just started to rattle. Its pretty bad to. I got some felt tape and hope to fix it this weekend. Thanks for the video!
@@emdavis197 yep. Got that one too. I can't tell if it's my cpiller or something lower. I'm gonna have to make sure before I pull the cpiller off and end up creating a new rattle! Lol. I also have the gear shift rattle that I'm hoping will go away once I get an mgw shifter.
@@emdavis197 hi, thanks for the video. I too have a driver's side door rattle. It goes away if i push on the decorative trim piece just above the arm rest. Just curious if you found the cause for yours?
I had the exact same issue, I just pushed in bubble wrap into there and then closed it up. Instant fix! The relief is unbelievable!
Probably the most detailed explanation of the problem and resolution that I've seen. Kudos, this fixed my rattle!
So happy for this video. The rattle was driving me insane. This fixed it 100%
Finally fixed my rattling and creaking after 2 years, thanks for this video
In my case it most likely came from the plastic hook/clip thingy - but I followed your advice and added the felt pads - fixed it. Thx !
Car audio guys suggest cloth tape. It is harder to come by, but works wonders for deadening loose things.
I’ll try it one day. Thanks for posting this video!
I have the similar problem and am going to try this’. Appreciate the fix solution
I will try this and let you know how it goes. Thanks!
Ford engineering needs to hire you.
🤣

I just pulled on it by hand starting with the forward area.
Thanks for the reply. Will try that later with my rattle box.
Did you have to disconnect the battery before doing this? Leary of messing with the airbag
I did not, but couldn’t hurt to do so. It would be highly unlikely to trip the air bag by doing this, but I suppose it is better to be safe.

I have the same issue but it's not a rattle but a buzzing sound. 2021 with 1300 miles 😞
It's small rocks in the fender liner!!
Did that fix yours? Curious if that’s where mine is coming from
holy crap thank you, just found that rattle that i had for 6 months, turned out it was a rock in my finder lining.
Those kinda break down over time, better to use closed cell foam i think
Any suggestions on the type of closed cell foam?
Did this fix the issue for you?
Yes it did. Two months later and it is still solid. Now I have to troubleshoot a new rattle in my driver side door sill. :/
