I ended up buying this very Leica from KEH same serial number... its pretty nice. they Replaced that chipping vulcanite that you see in the video too. only issue when I got it was the vertical alignment was off. quick adjustment and its perfect now.
Hey Edward! We get M2s in on a regular basis, but the repaints tend to go out quickly. Best way to stay on top of what's new in stock is using our newly arrived filter here: www.keh.com/shop/special-categories/newly-arrived.html Happy hunting!
Irontalyn you can get a Leica MD for under $400. Some times under $300. It’s a viewfinderless M2 so you’d have to zone focus. But hey it’s a Leica M for under $500.
Nice video! And I totally agree with your views. However, it's a shame is someone sold you this camera a an original black M2. Hope the new owner will make many great shots with it :)
If 100 black paint M2s were made, you can be sure there are about 1,000 black paint M2s for sale on eBay. Srsly, counterfeiting of black-painted Leicas (and the accompanying counterfeit supporting documents) is so prevalent that I would never pay a dime more for a black paint camera than I would for a chrome one. As stated in the video, this one is still a nice camera - just not worth a price premium.

Awesome! We're glad you're continuing this M2's story. Enjoy it!
You want to sell it ?
These videos are fantastic. Beautifully shot, well narrated and full of useful and succinct information. Well done! Keep them coming!
Do you have any m2 black repaints in stock? I’m based in Atlanta and would love to come in and pick one up.

Whoever painted it didn't even bother to completely clean up the white paint from the engravings. That is in no way a professional paint job.
I would love to have a Leica but the prices are too high for me.

Welcome back to UA-cam. It’s been 2 years since your last video
Yeah, thanks! Good to be back.
More of these videos. Love it.
Just like old guitars, their paint would wear off and it wasn’t liked back in the 1950s. Now everyone wants the worn guitar look 😂
The fact that the lens mount is painted is a dead giveaway that it's a poor aftermarket job.
