It's fantasy but it has mystery, comedy, romance , tragedy and action
ALL things i do love!
I loved this show. I stopped watching during Season 5, it didn't have the same feeling as the earlier seasons. Too many characters and convoluted plots. But Season 1 is so magical that you could just pretend it's the whole series on its own and be satisfied.
I agree, I stopped watching once it added a purgatory (like all of these fantasy series do eventually) and when it became just each episode being a one-off random character being added, cause some issues, they fix it then they go back to normal like when they added Elsa?? Don't add modern princesses I beg
@@kiwibird4966 well, Elsa wasn't an episode thing. The whole season was about her, which btw wasn't that bad. I watch that season with really low expectations but it surprised me how they made it work

This show means SO much to me, I cry as soon as I hear the intro song.
Knowing that nobody else ages because of the curse and so Henry was the only kid/person in town aging and going to different grades but none of the other kids did is lowkey HORRIFYING😭😭😭

I have no idea how I missed this reaction. Lana Parrilla, aka The Evil Queen, is simply one of the best actresses I've come upon. She seriously makes this show what it is.
Also, fun fact (assuming no one else mentioned it): Jane Espenson, one of the best BTVS writers, was a producer, and writer for this series so there is many a time, you'll spot some storylines that seem familiar or characters that just scream BTVS. (Team 🐇)

Totally! Season 2 and 3 are the top for me. Don't stop at the pilot!
i loved this show so much, even though it gets so chaotic and nonsensical at a certain point, I just ate it all up. and yeah, each episode has a storyline in the present modern world and in the past fairytale world. usually, the past storyline explains characters backstories that we see in the present, and they usually all have twists, that we see play out in the present, it's pretty fun. and yeah, the mom is the evil queen, everyone is a character. if you don't like puns, get ready cuz every character name is a pun lmao, ruby being red riding hood, cinderella being called ASH-ley, snow white's last name being blanchard, it's all references. if you do get into the show, there is a spin off set in wonderland, and s7 is sort of a reset, it's way after the events of s6 and is a different thing, but if you get there you'll see.
it's a fun and wild show that can be so good and so cheesy and I have to stop myself from rewatching it lmao

Best series ever imo. The evil queen is everything. Throughout the series they spend a lot of time in both timelines. You'd love it!!
When this came out, it was new and a refreshing take on the stories we grew up hearing about. And boy was I HOOKED. Yes, the show is great BUT... I think it could've been much more than great. It could've been epic. At least for me it would've been. I get its message, it's all good and all but at the same time, I wanted it to go on a darker path to push certain characters and layer them even more than what we were given. I feel like because it was on ABC and it's owned by Disney, they forced it to become a family show. If you decide to watch the whole thing, you'll see what I mean. And because of that, I feel like it lost its magic. At that point it just felt, like I said, forced. Again, that's just my opinion.

There were many missteps, and generally the quality went down each season. The show's idea of what's moral became inconsistent. Too many twists just for the sake of "You thought for so long that it was this way, but actually!" in the later seasons that weren't logical or took the meaningfulness out of something earlier. But even in the final season there were still good character moments, which was the best part of this show.

Once Upon a Time is a lot of fun. Really happy you enjoyed it Darcie. We lived in Vancouver for 2 years and it was filming quite a lot there so we went to the actual town of Storybrooke that they filmed in quite a lot and it’s super cute!
Enjoy it and have a blast if you end up watching the whole show. Also the evil Queen is of course the best character.

The show is actually about all of the Disney characters (mostly) that through out the story it shows their past and their current life in story brook! I LOOOOVED this show.
All corvids (even Bluejays) can remember your face. They can also become your friends and will bring you gifts. If you offer them gifts while you build a friendship.
I love once upon a time I LITERALLY WATCHED IT 1000 and it never gets old or boring and I still get surprised and teary eyed and I love the Romane to it and I watch it every year

As much as I disliked season 7 and as bad as it was, I think 5 was the worst.
At least 7 they tried to refresh the show and go in a new direction.
Love this show! Lots of fairytale characters. The old lady and the girl with red scarf at the inn are Little Red Riding Hood and her Grandma. Hope you continue reacting to this show! It's amazing!

Regina/Evil Queen is actually a great mom she really genuinely love's Henry and will do anything for him. She's also a fan favourite character
Ah this show. I remember enjoying the first 2 seasons so much; there's evil plans within evil plans and it all get revealed a bit at a time. The show gets a bit stuck in a rut in later seasons but they still have some fun moments.

It does keep both timelines, it works like LOST, where half episode is flashbacks and half is the present.
Wow, you're so lucky starting to watch this amazing series for the first time! I know that a lot of people soured on the later seasons, but if you just take it on its own terms, I think it's a a really fun show, and I thoroughly enjoyed all of it.
Basically the whole thing with the time is the characters have been trapped in time for 28 years which is why none of them aged. So the time moving means that Emma’s has started fulfilling her destiny and time is finally moving again! :)
Also I so love this show because they add so much more depth into the characters and they add flaws to the heroes!

Just subscribed. I'm much older (75) and we probably don't share all viewing interests but this much we do have in common. I also like to watch the very first episode, the pilot of a series and then decide whether to continue with it. We live in a time where binge watching is commonplace. In my day, this was not possible. You had to wait a week between episodes, and usually the show went on hiatus during the summer. For a series like OUAT, thats a good 7 year commitment. Its so easy to be interrupted by life in that process. I don't remember how far I got with OUAT, perhaps 2 or 3 seasons. Seeing the pilot with you brought back memories and I will begin the series anew.

i stayed till the very end and even watched the final episode AS it aired (it was a Friday at 8pm 😌🤞). I won’t sit here and say that the show was perfect or that i was happy about every little decision they made but i did enjoy it to the very end. Do kinda wish some ppl who quit the show in earlier seasons had kept going with it cuz i can say with certainty that every story arc served a purpose and added more layers/growth to the characters in the end. it’s a lovely show and im glad i stuck with it
I love this show. I think seasons 1-5 are solid, with 1-3 being the best. It's seasons 6 and 7 that are messy for me.

Agreed. I prefer to pretend that the mid-season finale in season 3 is the series finale, though, minus the one minute flashforward at the very end. It really is a perfect satisfying ending that wraps up all the major character arcs. ❤️

AAAHHH So glad you reacted to this!! When this came out in 2011 it was probably the last show that a whole family was excited to watch all together it was that magical (pun intended). The pacing gets better and better and there's so much lore and character development you just fall in love.
This is such a good show. Haven't watched the last few seasons, but what I've seen was so good, never fails to surprise you. I think you'd really like this one.

I lost interest in the show as it went on, but got to admit - this is the perfect pilot. It tells you everything you need to know, without telling you *everything*, and basically forces you to keep watching.

I think rumple is supposed to represent humanity- all the best and worst of what it means to be sentient and to have a soul. Think about how he got to be both the dark one and the hero. He faced temptations but he also made sacrifices. He had magic but the magic also had him. He was both cursed and doing the cursing.

This show is so good, my favorite season is 1 and 3 I can't watch season 7 though , it's just feels different... Emma and Regina relationship are the best and for me their dynamic is what made the show interesting, and who can forgete Rumpelstiltskin!

I watched the entire run. The first half is the best, but I enjoyed the entire series. Give it a go! You’ll love the randomness! Snow White’s actress actually met and fell in love with ice cream sammy on this show. They’re now married with beautiful lil babies in reality.
I've seen every season of this show, it's really good. The later ones do get more chaotic but it's still worth a watch. In my opinion, the best season, in terms of writing and characters, is season 3. Absolutely well done, the best villain plotline in the whole show. (also some personal bias bc my absolute favorite characters were in that season) but it is just really well done and worth a watch.

Rumplestiltskin is the absolute star of this show. The "heroes" are supposedly the main characters...but it's Rumplestiltskin forever. (And "the Evil Queen" is amazing. She's possibly the second-best character in the show...after Rumple.)

The evil Queen is Snow White’s mother by marriage, so is Emma’s grandmother and Henry’s great grandmother.
Henry is the queen’s son by adoption… making him his grandmother’s step-brother, his mom’s uncle, and his own grand-uncle.
It just gets wilder from there.
