I was a full time driver for deliveroo, uber & just eat for 6 years. It used to be great, 14hr shifts - £160+ per day Mon-Fri, £200+ per day Sat-Sun was easy! Then a few months before covid, fees were cut in half, too much recruitment happened. Then covid hit, fees were cut even more and even more recruitment happened. When it got to the point of making £60 for a 12hr shift, i left, never going back, the good days are over, do not recommend in 2023 as a full time driver unless you like making peanuts.
As stated work for my self as self employed I do gardening jobs and there’s no gardening jobs a do deliveries. Deliveries apps not paying well . This not gonna change till people still accepting lowers rates
Here in germany there is a minimum wage law which ensures that every delivery person has to earn at least 12€ per hour. this means that uber eats, just eat, etc. offer at least 12€ and a bonus from a certain amount of deliveries. The minimum wage is also increased annually here in Germany.

I have been doing food and grocery delivery since the lockdowns. I have given up. It was clear it was a sinking ship when DoorDash starting hiding the actual payout. And it continues downhill from there. I finally got a 30 hr a week part time job. Yes I make less per hr then I did when delivery was at its peak. Not worthy anymore, plus deliveroo and uber send your gains to tax now , you have to pay tax on every penny you earn. It's a dead industry, the food and the uber taxi too, all dead

Interesting video. Did you include SMR - servicing, maintenance and repair? You get peaks and troughs for tyres, servicing etc, but I would budget 14-25 pence per mile. If you can do your own oil, filter changes then it probably keeps costs down.
I’m working on figuring out the cost per mile for my car, but until I’ve needed a few sets of tyres and a few repairs, it’s hard to know what my car is costing me in maintenance. I’ll keep your estimate in mind though, good to know!
@@autohustles I know there are online calculators that figure out those costs for a given model and year of vehicle, they mainly work for newer cars though
Great idea for a video and really well done. Not often I don't skip through videos when they get a bit boring but this kept me hooked right the way through. :)
I work at ASDA, I make 12.50 an hour and I have sick pay, holiday pay and a pension. I work 36 hours a week. Once I pass my car licence, I can go on to be a delivery driver, making 15.50 an hour and working 40 hours a week. Honestly, don't see the benefit of doing delivery jobs like these. Also, I don't have "work" expenses. Everything I earn, is cash in pocket. Also £415 sounds good, but what about your lunch, vehicle repair, tire replacements and petrol is getting expensive more and more. I use a 125 moped for commute and pay £20 a month. I live good and the work is easy. Considering I used to work a mining job in Scotland, making £22 an hour working 50 hours a week. I'd rather be where I am, it's peaceful and I don't foresee having bad knees, back or contracting a terminal illness (Unless you count having to deal with the occasional smack head) Honestly, tho if you do this job, I hope you the best. It seems stressful.
As a JE driver only can say its pretty possible to make really good money. But if you live in Wales as recently the new 20mph was introduced as speed limit things got quite worse as traffic jams are basically everywhere and if couldve done 13-17 pounds per hour, now is cutted in half. And at the end of the day better stick to the 20mph per hour than fast speeding with 30 mph and getting fines and penalty points... It would be a miracle if speed limit law be reversed soon back to the 30mph.
It's a new speed limit bought in across Wales. Many side roads in central London are 20 zones, where I live on the outskirts there isn't a single 20mph anywhere near me. British motorways are faster than american "interstates" or "freeways" at 70mph. There's many single lane country roads (with two way traffic using them) that are still 60mph limit roads.@@spicysnowman8886

Saturday and friday nights are the best times... I would like a video of you doing a normal week but working Friday and Sat evenings to see if you could make way way more...
Thank you for this video, I found it very interesting and have subscribed. I am 59 and own a small business making and restoring furniture, and while I enjoy it, it can be very stressful at times and the overheads are massive, what with rent, utilities, materials, insurances etc etc, and on seeing this video I can see myself doing this in a few years after I end the cabinet making business. I appreciate I will have the expenses of diesel and insurance and general wear and tear on my vehicle, but I won't have a massive rent to find every quarter, or utilities and landline phone bill, plus with the greatest of respect to all delivery folk out there, this is a lot simpler than making high quality funiture and will not tax my poor old brain so much, plus as I get older my body is'nt as physically strong as it was, so lifting a few shopping bags and / or takeaway bags will be a lot easier than lugging big planks of hardwood around the workshop. This video has been a real eye opener and I'm looking forward to exploring your channel...cheers!
Thank you my friend! You’re right, this job is very easy - you can pretty much do it on autopilot all day whilst listening to podcasts or music. I used to be a web developer for a company and the stress of the job wasn’t worth the pay. I hated the meetings and the lack of autonomy over my role. I discovered gig delivery work and honestly haven’t looked back. Sure, it has its downsides, you gotta keep on top of car maintenance and the good money is made during evenings and otherwise unsociable hours, but if those things are cool with you, it’s a great job. My advice would be to get signed up as early as you can even before you wrap your business up, so you have an active account ready to go when you’re ready - waiting lists to join can be long right now. Godspeed to you!
Cheers! Yea it’s crazy, I used to work in Bristol and the area is so oversaturated with riders it’s impossible to hit £10ph until 6pm onwards. But in Bristol you can also work nights until 4am and it stays moderate most of that time, can’t do that here in Taunton as Deliveroo stops at 1am and even then most places are shut by 10pm, everywhere has their ups and downs I guess.
100% id take this job over a traditional job. i.e retail. Being out on the open road, choosing when you wanna work, doing whatever you want inbetween jobs is way more appealing to me than money
Same, this beats any other retail/hospitality job. Freedom to work as much as you want, being on the road, tunes/podcasts on all day, it could be worse 🙌🏻
@@autohustles Yep when it comes down to jobs of similar pay rate in comparison this gig work beats most jobs out in terms of flexibility but it really depends on what market your in, would've been ideal 10 years ago unfortunately money just doesn't go that far today..
My dad was a private hire driver who for a time had his own vehicle and when he had his own vehicle a big thing he seemed to forget is putting money away for times when the vehicle was off the road requiring repairs. Not just funding the repairs but the loss of a day or two (sometimes longer) pay. For me for this to be viable for people in cars you surely need to be making enough not only to live but to put away - otherwise you could go under at the first big mechanical issue. My dad always had my mum and his mum to bail him out 😂
I like the way you still did the 9-5 regardless of the appointments as this reflects my office job where i have to get in later sometimes or leave early for appointments so it's realistic. :) thing is i'm salaried though so I don't lose the money but it shows an approach i'm sure affects thousands of people in their 9-5 :)
This was a great watch. I guess the only way to limit expenses would be to change vehicle. Although a Micra isn't exactly a thirsty beast, getting a scooter is the way forward for this job I'd say but then saying that having scooters hammering around all the time is irritating on the roads lol.
If I didn't do Amazon Flex as well, I'd probably switch to an e-bike, perhaps a moped. But tbh Amazon Flex is my favourite gig work so I'll be in a car for the foreseeable!
I hope you have the correct insurance, I was stopped by the police for delivering a pizza a few years ago, he said you are only insured with business car insurance if you are paid a flat rate, if you are paid per delivery you are NOT insured, and you need hire and reward insurance. 6 points 300 fine driving uninsured! dont get stopped bro!!
Interestingly as an officer I once stopped a car doing roughly 70-80mph in a 30 zone and he was out delivering pizzas. Transpired not only was he doing nearly 3x the speed limit but he also didn't have business insurance for delivery and was only insured for SDP. He begged and pleaded but it was on deaf ears. Driving like that draws attention to yourself and when you're doing 3x the limit near enough in a town centre and don't have the correct insurance there's no leeway from me. Business insurance is for salaried drivers... i.e people who get paid a flat hourly rate but have to use their own car. Hire & Reward is for those who can literally choose what days they want to work and can go "online" at any point, whenever they like, hence the "hire" and "reward" because at that point you are being "hired for reward" but as soon as you go offline you are no longer "hired for reward".
i would only recommend delivery jobs as a weekend extra cash thing, on a busy day you can still make around £100-150. do it once per week and you are easily looking at extra £400/500 a month which is not bad at all.
Hey hope you are well Firstly, just wanted to say great video very informative great shots very well presented Furthermore, I wanted to ask what Camera you are using and what mounts you are using to take the shots? Thanks 👍
Thanks mate! I use a GoPro Hero 11 along with a chest mount for walking shots, and a hat clip mount for driving shots (I use it upside down so the camera is resting on my forehead, if it’s above the hat it’s too high and you get a shot that’s just the ceiling of the car - forehead level with the camera angled slightly down is perfect for getting the view onto the road).
It’s not forgotten, but it’s nearly impossible to put into an hourly cost. I use the car for social use too, and it’s very hard to figure out what proportion of maintenance costs belong to work expenses, and what belongs to personal use. Both will contribute to maintenance. It’s ultimately impossible to include as an expense accurately. But you’re right, it will of course cost something - maybe I can work it out over the next year or two as I incur maintenance costs and attempt to proportion it correctly, but it’s not an easy thing to work out and will take a long time.
@@autohustles what I do. Is use the invoices of the past year. Add 10%, and devid that by the kilometers I drove in the past year. That will give you a maintenance cost per kilometer.
Would be interesting to see what it works out to if you included the extra wear and tear/servicing on the car, depreciation of the vehicle. Also don't you need to include income tax and national insurance on the earnings?
Income tax will barely impact it due to personal allowance. NI is paid on all jobs, so that doesn't really matter either, as this is comparing food deliveries to other jobs. You're correct about the vehicle, but it's hard to quantify.
As Jordanidk says, wear and tear is very hard to quantify into a per-mile amount as it will take months if not years of tracking costs and repairs first. Same with tax and NI, I take off fuel and insurance to compare the wage to other jobs, and you always compare wages before tax, as everyone pays tax and pays different amounts. I’ll include wear and tear coats though, as soon as I have a reasonably accurate calculation, but that’s some time away.
The flexibility of just logging on and off when ever you feel like working is great. I could be tempted to do a few hours in-between my full time job. How does the insurance thing work, do you get insured through the app, for how long you are logged on, or do you just pay an extra yearly charge through your normal insurance with including business use ?
Have you been doing deliveries in Exeter either food delivery or Amazon flex, has it been relatively good?, thank you keep up with the video and your contents , really appreciate and are inspiring me to give it a go my self!
I would be so careful when you use people's driveways to park, you break anything like a drain cover etc,you will be responsible for the repair. I deliver for Sainsbury's and we're not allowed unless given prior permission. Luckily on my ebike doing deliveries I'm unlikely to break anything😂
I've been thinking of picking up some work from Uber eats or Amazon flex, wich one do you think with your experience will be the best? thank you for your videos good idea and information, inspirational 👍👍👍by the way I'm in Sidmouth Devon,I don't know if these area will or will not be a Good area for these jobs🤔🤔🤔

Just saw this on my recommended and it’a crazy to see someone from Taunton, I live just a short drive away and got hooked by just viewing the same streets I drive by
I like the concept of mon-fri 9-5 but i wouldn't say thats the days or hours you could make a decent weekly wage doing this job I'm sure you already know this so it'd be nice to see you working the days and hours where it's busy such as wed-sun 3-11 and see how much you make compared to this
Oh absolutely, it was purely an experiment to see how much I would make in office hours. You read my mind though, I was thinking the same Wed-Sun, probably 3-11 or 4-12 - watch this space! 🙌🏻
Uber eat 4.26£ in the beginning now 2.80£ Deliveroo 4£ to 3.15£ Petrol 1.14£ now 1.50£ Bike price sky rocketing there are lot of things but see the opposite side of it in 2014 percentage from deliveroo to the restaurant 35% for example French fries in 2014 2£ and now 5£ if you calculate with the percentage everything vent up and the salary of the people came down .
Hi nice video. I wonder what happens when you take a shortcut to the customer's address (on that is not shown on google maps or app). Do the google maps/ app just pick back up when you re-join the route they suggested or do you have to find the location by yourself?
Thanks man, and yep 😂 we need hire & reward insurance to do courier work, and it’s significantly more expensive than normal car insurance. A lot of car couriers here use bike accounts to try and get around it but they’re fucked if the cops ever pull them over whilst on a job. And they do check too, I’ve had a cop pull me over and check my documents before.
Hey, I have a question for you Auto Hustles, do you turn off, for example, Deliveroo app, when you are already going for pick up/delivery with Uber Eats? I want to try our deliveries with two different delivery companies at the same time
I keep them on in case one comes in on another app as I’m about to finish one - I don’t take two at the same time though, maximum overlap of maybe 2 minutes.
£10.94 minus vehicle maintenance like service tyres breakdown etc . Your left with probably £8-9 per hour . It’s slave labour . These delivery platforms are making money out of you and the customer not forgetting the Restaurant’s/Retailers as well . Better of begging on the streets for that kind of money less heading less Agro . Uber and Deliveroo are making the money not you or any other rider. £10.94 minus self employment income tax !! Minus expenses = Slave Labour.
Exactly why I won’t be doing 9-5 as a regular shift pattern 🤣 but yes in a car there are added costs for doing this job regularly, realistically if you don’t work evening shifts earning £13-14+ per hour average, it’s not worth doing at all.
The best thing the job offers is the total freedom though, you don't have to answer to any boss or colleagues, you can start whenever and finish whenever. For me it's what I'm planning to do once I'm driving and in terms of wages I'm not too bothered as I've always earned a small amount.
Me too 🤣 love a good stat. I’m with Zego pay monthly so it’s a bit cheaper for me doing it full time, costs me £150 a month but my previous social insurance cost me £60 a month so I take that off the Zego cost to work out what I’m paying purely for delivery insurance (Zego monthly includes social) and then with my average of 45 hours a week that works out to 50p an hour. If I work more in a week obviously it works out cheaper 👍🏻
@@autohustles thanks buddy. so basically the same, 30 days policy fully comp costs me £143 with them. they treat me like there's no ncb, because a friend who got 0 ncb has similar price. but they are taking the piss, last year i was paying £67 fully comp for minicabing and now they're charging double for delivery. but i like how you deducted the social and make sense. mine is £38 so that would cost me about £105 for 30 days, it looks better if you look at this from this angle :D would love to see a video with your earning over 45 hours a week delivering.
If you also had Just Eat operating, this could have boosted the Mon-Fri end total slightly, which could possibly make it more of a full time job, mon-fri 9-5pm, weekly average, turn that into a monthly average.
@@autohustles Also just subscribed! I literally enjoy these videos, I also watch Atlanta Delivers based in Worthing, delivery videos is just such a chill thing to watch
the best way to delivery food is doing it with an e-bike. it's much more convenient and you save a lot of time, resulting in finishing more orders at the end of the day. i would like to try it in amsterdam next year
Definitely e-bike is the best for food delivery, for me though my channel is just focused on earning money with your car and involves Amazon Flex etc. so I just gotta suck it up!
Thanks mate - yea I’m tracking my repair costs over time but don’t have enough data yet to form a per-mile cost, gonna need a few services etc. until I have an average
i have a question. does your insurance cover you to do uber eat or did you get another type of insurance for you to deliver. if so what company did you use? i only ask since my insurance doesnt cover me to do uber or deliveroo.
You could probably make 30-40% more doing evening shifts instead! I’ll do a similar video in the future comparing this shift to an evening shift to see the difference 🙌🏻
Thanks! Yea I’m with Zego, but on a pay monthly plan. I used to be on pay as you go but with the hours I put in, I get much better value on pay monthly.
That's pretty amazing though, for food delivery. I did the math and it comes up to about £23.400 per year before taxes, which is more than I make working in an office. So... that's awesome. Nothing to complain about, considering you think you would make much more working different hours
It’s a decent potential salary considering it’s unskilled work with infinite flexibility. On days where you aren’t doing anything, you can work extra hours and earn more. There’s car maintenance costs too, but with a decent car and driving carefully, they shouldn’t be more than a few hundred pounds per year. Many drivers moan about pay without realising the benefits we have over a normal job. Thanks for watching!
Good video to learn how to drive for Uber Eats in usa, for new drivers to learn, drive and earn money. Thank you. Good luck with your youtube channel. God bless you.
The big concern I notice is that the wear and tear on the vehicle, constantly on the road driving and racking up those miles. potentially means more trips to the garage for repairs compared to driving to and from a place of work
For sure. The costs vary hugely based on the car and driving style. I haven’t tracked everything exactly but I’ve had a few new tyres, and a couple small repairs in 18 months, about £600 ish. It’s a small price to pay for the freedom of the job, in my view. My car isn’t precious, it’s a work tool. Nice cars shouldn’t be driven for delivery work, absolutely not worth it.
Could probably get more deliveries done on a motorcycle but then ya gotta battle with the weather I suppose. But not a bad wage especially if ya started later in the day and finished a little later.
hi Luke, do you report taxable income as "self employed" or not with this kind of job Also 16:11 it's all you, it's a duel exit roundabout onto a dual carrageway should have come off in the second lane to overtake coach you were cutting across into the other car and getting mad, other driver wasn't doing anything wrong.
I was doing a U-turn at the roundabout, from where I entered the roundabout only the inside lane goes right so I was well within my rights to leave the roundabout in the left lane of the two. You’re right the coach was doing nothing wrong as both those lanes go right (although almost nobody in this town seems to know that and I’ve seen so many near misses when cars do use that outside lane to go right), but the car up my inside definitely did, they shot up my inside due to the coach slowing things down. They probably didn’t realise I was U turning from the same exit but still, they shouldn’t presume. I was clearly indicating into my exit lane from early enough on the roundabout. Appreciate it looks a tad confusing though! And yea, I’m registered self-employed and do my taxes as such. I don’t involve a limited company or anything.
Fully agree with you, as per my comment. As much as this chap seems likeable he is in the wrong and clearly can't exit from a roundabout correctly but blames the other road user.
Still doesn't make sense. If anything the lane HE was in is the correct lane to exit the roundabout, because it's closer to the exit, you wouldn't exit the roundabout AT the exit from the inner lanes closer to the roundabout.... you'd exit from the lanes nearer the exit (outside lanes). It's also two lanes so the way you indicated to exit and then tried to exit into lane 1 where the coach was and the car suddenly appeared seems completely wrong. Nothing stopped you from exiting straight into lane 2. I drive a lot and there's plenty of roundabouts exactly like this where I regularly drive, this is how they always work... cars on the outside roundbout lanes exit into lane 1 of the exit, and cars in the middle or inner lane exit into lane 2. I also don't know why you waited so long for the coach and almost came to a crawl as it was pretty clear he was exiting into lane 1.... and you could have kept going and safely exited into lane 2. It's also worth noting that indicating DOES NOT give you priority of any sort, and the onus is still on you to check the lane is clear and you won't cause a collision or force someone else to take evasive action by moving into that lane. I see too many idiots on the road who think they can just stick an indicator on, and immediately move over forcing you into breaking heavily, or suddenly having to lane change to avoid clipping the rear of their car as they cut across.@@autohustles
Odd question for you - how do you avoid getting parking charges by revisiting a specific store/car park? Particularly for those companies that like to do the "double dip" thing and claim you never left.
Thanks man! I can only go by my experience of living in London 9 years ago, but I’d say no, unless you do night shifts. Red routes and parking will be your main problem alongside the sheer traffic. E-bike or scooters are your best bet there, and in any major city tbh. Cars are only really okay in towns with less traffic and less parking restrictions, and parking is still a nightmare for a lot of restaurant pickups near me until the evening.
Thanks for the video, it answers a question I've always had. Just curious, but it sounds like you're saying 'Thanks Burt' (for example 06:44) on dropping off some of the deliveries. I thought I could hear it more than once. I confess I could be my hearing though :). I managed to figure out you're in the Taunton area but Google didn't shed any light on the Burt thing either. I'm in the UK, but have never hurt that saying before, so was wondering if you could confirm? Thanks!
Not consistent pay. £5 per hour is average in my area . Vehicle costs can be high £4000 per year is common. What happens is people do 100 hrs a week and take all the orders then not enough orders to support the drivers.
You should try doing a later shift, say 4pm to 1am. This is the busiest time in my area (both in terms of order volume, and the least amount of riders on the road) but it’s a bigger area than Taunton is There are some days that I can clear over £60 between midnight and £2am, others are more like £6 but it’s all part of the fun! There are fewer expenses when doing the job full time however… insurance is cheaper and if you invest in a hybrid car fuel becomes less of an issue. I’d say this is the perfect job to pair with being a taxi driver (which I’ll probably be doing in the near future)
@@autohustles, yeah, here it'd be 11:30-7:30 most days and then 12-8 or 12:30-8:30 on F/S/Su. Sometimes you get good late dinners but usually it's slow here; most places close at 9 pm anyway. I usually go home between 1:30/2 and 5 anyway to do housework because it's not worth being out anyway. You get like 1-2 $5 orders per hour.

Yea, you have to pay tax like any job earnings - but that isn't part of calculating the profit. Profit is always calculated before tax. And yes, you can do any hours you want to with Uber and Deliveroo!
This video was amazing to watch. I always tip the Uber eats do I have to do that because I have been doing that for bit I only did that to people who are nice to talk to. I only tipped like 20 dollars max
Interesting, however as a self employed person, I would have also deducted national insurance and possibly income tax ? assuming of course this is your only income…great video.
Hey, I'm working the same job and I'm curious how do you manage to go a full day without the battery on your phone dying. I always need to bring a power bank, but it's big and heavy and is really annoying
I use a power bank that I keep in the cup holder - car charger isn’t powerful enough. My power bank is 20,000 mAh so can do 2 full days of deliveries without charging it 🙌🏻
Yes! For most couriers, they’ll pay much less tax than an equivalent job in employment thanks to mileage allowance. However, it’s often evened out by having to fund our own maintenance on our vehicle. Still, it’s a big help.

I'm American, 20mph? Is that just in towns and villages? Lowest we have outside parking lots is 25 and everyone does 30
It's a new speed limit bought in across Wales.
Thanks for the insight! - I thought I was going crazy hearing your indicator constantly and then realised it's the music in the background ha!
Yea that song wasn’t a great choice 🤣 I know what you mean! Thanks for watching nonetheless 🙌🏻
Just subscribed to the channel, great content & hope your channel grows. You might want to do challenges such as 12 hour shifts or even longer/working till 3-4 am as this may attract more subscribers to this channel. Can see this channel growing & look forward to more content.
Cheers mate! Plenty of content in the works like what you described, including some challenges that will kill me to do but should be entertaining to watch 🤣
@@autohustles Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to me and for the great advice...All the best to you!
Brilliant,so glad you did this to show full time work
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙌🏻
0ver 300k views, wow your content is great and edited really well. You deserve a lot more followers.
Love the insight to the job and well edited. Thank you.
Watching this video makes me so grateful for the job i have. I take my hat off to you for doing it
Great video mate. Fascinating insight. Just shows how areas differ. No chance of these kind of figures in my area.
Ye, same. The whole municipality is full of old people whove never heard of the internet.
I worked 40 hours over 4 days with uber an made over £1200
This popped up on my recommended videos. Very glad it did. Really interesting. Thanks very much. Subscribed.
Appreciate it! 🙌🏻

Cheers bud! 🙌🏻
Im a HGV Class 1 driver and I earn good money and pay nothing on fuel and insurance etc…. That’s where the money is if you wanna be a driver
@@Michael19901 yeah that'd be a great job. Would love to do that. But you've gotta have a certain skill set for that job don't you
@@autohustles Yep when it comes down to jobs of similar pay rate in comparison this gig work beats most jobs out in terms of flexibility but it really depends on what market your in, would've been ideal 10 years ago unfortunately money just doesn't go that far today..
Go and drive for a supermarket@@autohustles
Was recommended to watch your video and enjoyed it. Subscribed!
Thanks bro, good to have you here 🙌🏻
Sir I need job it
This was a great watch.
Haha I’ve been stopped before too! I was all good, got correct hire and reward insurance covering food and parcels 🙌🏻🙌🏻
@@thefiestaguy8831 3x the speed limit. That is insane. No pizzas were delivered cold under his watch, that's for sure! Lol
He even tried to bribe us with some pizza.... and said "He'd stop and go straigh home". @@MR-nz6db
i would only recommend delivery jobs as a weekend extra cash thing, on a busy day you can still make around £100-150. do it once per week and you are easily looking at extra £400/500 a month which is not bad at all.
Super helpful thank you!!
I'm in the process of setting up ubereats and just eat account what thermal bag would you recommend for car delivery?
you should add servicecost tire cosnumption and fluid expenses on your car aswell maybe depreciation aswell
Not to mention no paid holidays, no pension, no sick leave etc
Tax doesn’t seem to be included in his profit
Another fantastic video. One small variation would be the same 9-5 but include Amazon Flex shifts as well as Deliveroo and Uber.
Cheers mate, and you’ve read my mind, that kind of video is on the horizon as my typical day would include both food delivery and Amazon flex 🙌🏻
Awesomeness I watch London eats and London hustle always thought about someone doing something similar in a car and found you😁😁
Well put together 👌🏾
Yes but what about the tyre costs, the repair costs to the car, no holiday, no pension, no sick pay.
Hey hope you are well
Firstly, just wanted to say great video very informative great shots very well presented
Furthermore, I wanted to ask what Camera you are using and what mounts you are using to take the shots?
@@autohustles appreciated
☑️
Your forgetting one huge hidden cost.
Maintenance
That will give you a maintenance cost per kilometer.
i think maintenance works out to about £10 per day or £200 a month
Your voice reminds me of a sports commentator mate haha enjoyable video cheers
Factor in wear and tear on the car. Tyres, shocks, ignition with the endless off/on, it adds up
Not to mention paying tax on earnings
The flexibility of just logging on and off when ever you feel like working is great. I could be tempted to do a few hours in-between my full time job. How does the insurance thing work, do you get insured through the app, for how long you are logged on, or do you just pay an extra yearly charge through your normal insurance with including business use ?
You can use pay-as-you-go insurance which charges you by the hour, or you can pay monthly/annually if you do it a lot ☺️
Great video.
I don't work weekends at the hospital, because it's minimum wage which is a joke. I don't work nights either, same pay as days.
Nice video bro , how do you calculate your expenses? And you choose your orders ? Thanks mate
This was a very cool video, how do you get started? I'm sure i spoke to someone once they said they worked 9 till 9 dont know how much of this is true!
I’m watching this solely to see how you park. Seems like it’s only my area where delivery drivers just park wherever is most obstructive haha.
Just saw this on my recommended and it’a crazy to see someone from Taunton, I live just a short drive away and got hooked by just viewing the same streets I drive by
enjoy these experiments,more please
I like the concept of mon-fri 9-5 but i wouldn't say thats the days or hours you could make a decent weekly wage doing this job I'm sure you already know this so it'd be nice to see you working the days and hours where it's busy such as wed-sun 3-11 and see how much you make compared to this
Oh absolutely, it was purely an experiment to see how much I would make in office hours. You read my mind though, I was thinking the same Wed-Sun, probably 3-11 or 4-12 - watch this space! 🙌🏻
@autohustles subscribed. For the video working peak hours only for exactly 40 hours a week. See if that works!
Uber eat 4.26£ in the beginning now 2.80£
Deliveroo 4£ to 3.15£
Petrol 1.14£ now 1.50£
Bike price sky rocketing there are lot of things but see the opposite side of it in 2014 percentage from deliveroo to the restaurant 35% for example French fries in 2014 2£ and now 5£ if you calculate with the percentage everything vent up and the salary of the people came down .
Hi nice video. I wonder what happens when you take a shortcut to the customer's address (on that is not shown on google maps or app). Do the google maps/ app just pick back up when you re-join the route they suggested or do you have to find the location by yourself?
Awesome video, but i dont understand the "Insurance" everyday? Do you in britain pay insurance everytime you drive your car? Thats insane if so
Thanks man, and yep 😂 we need hire & reward insurance to do courier work, and it’s significantly more expensive than normal car insurance. A lot of car couriers here use bike accounts to try and get around it but they’re fucked if the cops ever pull them over whilst on a job. And they do check too, I’ve had a cop pull me over and check my documents before.
@@autohustles Thats crazy, and with the gas prices being so high, i understand that most delivery people use bikes/e-bikes
tbh.
This was very interesting. One question though, how much are you putting for the vehicle, and SMR?
Great video man!
I did Deliveroo during Covid times. Not bad pay but long hours.
The lockdown era was when this job really shined. No traffic, apps were busy all day long, easy £200+ days for 8-10 hours work. It will be missed.
Woah I saw the floodlights and realised you’re in Taunton!
It was the houses on Priorswood Road and the Grange Drive turning when I twigged.
nice stats mate, i love stats. what's your insurer? im with zego and with 7 ncb i've got 80p/h, tho i never started doing any delivering.
@@autohustles thanks buddy. so basically the same, 30 days policy fully comp costs me £143 with them. they treat me like there's no ncb, because a friend who got 0 ncb has similar price. but they are taking the piss, last year i was paying £67 fully comp for minicabing and now they're charging double for delivery. but i like how you deducted the social and make sense. mine is £38 so that would cost me about £105 for 30 days, it looks better if you look at this from this angle :D
would love to see a video with your earning over 45 hours a week delivering.
If you also had Just Eat operating, this could have boosted the Mon-Fri end total slightly, which could possibly make it more of a full time job, mon-fri 9-5pm, weekly average, turn that into a monthly average.
Once Just Eat get me onboarded in my town I’ll definitely do that! 🙌🏻
I liked the video and thanks for the content.
I just wondered if you put the expenses of the wear and tear on the car/cost of car comes in to it?
Thanks mate - yea I’m tracking my repair costs over time but don’t have enough data yet to form a per-mile cost, gonna need a few services etc. until I have an average
Haha this was on my Home Screen. Got to Tuesday then twigged it was Priorswood Road, then off towards Liseuix Way. Cool.
Big up Taunton 🙌🏻
Just subbed, uber driver myself. Keep up the good work 😊
Thanks bro! 🙌🏻
I enjoyed watching this it was very interesting. Thanks
You should really factor in the additional mileage you're putting on your car ... depreciation, tyres, servicing etc.
i have a question. does your insurance cover you to do uber eat or did you get another type of insurance for you to deliver. if so what company did you use? i only ask since my insurance doesnt cover me to do uber or deliveroo.
you need hire & reward insurance for food delivery to be legal!
This was such a good video. Would you say you could make the same amount doing night shifts with boosts? Would you maybe do a video on that?
You could probably make 30-40% more doing evening shifts instead! I’ll do a similar video in the future comparing this shift to an evening shift to see the difference 🙌🏻
Great video. Do you use Zego for your insurance? Thanks
Thanks! Yea I’m with Zego, but on a pay monthly plan. I used to be on pay as you go but with the hours I put in, I get much better value on pay monthly.
I lived in Wellington for a few years as a kid, so seeing Taunton is very nostalgic lol.
Loved this video!
Thank you! 🙌🏻
Monday on Uber was so busy because they do half price fruit and veg! :)
Although it's probably quite mentally draining to drive for so long, it seems doing this is one of the easier jobs in the country for a standard wage.
Yeah if they provide the insurance, company car and fuel then it's good.
Thank you for the great content!
You’re welcome! Plenty more to come 🙌🏻
hi Luke, do you report taxable income as "self employed" or not with this kind of job
Also 16:11 it's all you, it's a duel exit roundabout onto a dual carrageway should have come off in the second lane to overtake coach you were cutting across into the other car and getting mad, other driver wasn't doing anything wrong.
Hello Hrmc 🤣 I bet he does, apps themselves report it I guess?
I was not excepting to see my town on UA-cam let alone my house and mum 😂
Pahahah life is full of the unexpected 🤣🤣
you are in good area with that payments, where i live is an average £3-4 on uber jobs
mondays are always boss on uber, all the other drivers dont seem to come out till evening which is greatt :D
Yea it’s definitely the best weekday for me - I got lucky on weds and thurs in this video because normally they’re as bad as Tuesdays 🤣
as a business u should also include vehicle maintenance and amortisation... for that minimum 150-200 a month. you end up with less than 1500 a month.
Do you need to inform HMRC or anything like that when you work for delivery companies?
Yes, if you make over £1,000 in a year as it is then considered a taxable source of income.
How do you calculate your insurance cost and fuel?
Really interesting video
Great video mate. Im in London, do you think it is possible to work in London traffic with a car?
Thanks!
He's saying 'bud'. It's just the accent
Thanks@@new_fone_who_dis that makes far more sense :)
Haha yea I’m saying “thanks bud”, sorry for the confusion!
Obviously Friday - Sunday evening are the crazy ones if you can move delivery’s fast and don’t get held by the stores making the food
Subd. You’re really funny 😊
Appreciate it mate! 👌🏻
I work 35 hours a week, i get holiday pay but not sick pay, did you pay national insurance and income tax out of your earnings?
We have to submit a tax return once a year to pay those, yes. We’re classed as standard self-employed.
Not consistent pay. £5 per hour is average in my area . Vehicle costs can be high £4000 per year is common. What happens is people do 100 hrs a week and take all the orders then not enough orders to support the drivers.
You should try doing a later shift, say 4pm to 1am. This is the busiest time in my area (both in terms of order volume, and the least amount of riders on the road) but it’s a bigger area than Taunton is
There are some days that I can clear over £60 between midnight and £2am, others are more like £6 but it’s all part of the fun!
There are fewer expenses when doing the job full time however… insurance is cheaper and if you invest in a hybrid car fuel becomes less of an issue. I’d say this is the perfect job to pair with being a taxi driver (which I’ll probably be doing in the near future)
Gonna be doing a similar challenge with a more optimal shift, probably 12-8 or 1-9 and maybe 4-12 as well in the future!
Is the final amount before or after tax please?
Before. Tax amounts are different for everyone so when you discuss wages it’s always before tax.
Just come across your channel! I don’t know why but videos like this is so easy to watch! Keep at it!
Can I ask what go pro (I think) you use and head strap? And any other equipment? Thanks!
Thanks bud! Yea it’s a GoPro Hero 11, I use a chest mount for walking shots and a hat clip for driving shots - the head mount is slightly too high on my forehead, I’ve found the hat clip gets the windscreen view perfect 👌🏻
Really interesting, but what about tax and national insurance? Can people do this part time at weekends?
My power bank is 20,000 mAh so can do 2 full days of deliveries without charging it 🙌🏻
@@autohustles Thanks, gonna get one myself
Can you not claim tax relief on your mileage? HMRC allows 40p per mile for the first 10k then 25p thereafter.
Yes! For most couriers, they’ll pay much less tax than an equivalent job in employment thanks to mileage allowance. However, it’s often evened out by having to fund our own maintenance on our vehicle. Still, it’s a big help.
