Survivor is extremely boring in 2v8. There's nothing to do but work on generators and hold W as soon as you hear the terror radius. Pallets deplete so quickly that looping is practically non-existent, and even if there are pallets to greed and tiles to chain, killers will either double up and down you instantly or just leave chase for someone in a weaker position. Being tunnelled out when there's 8 survivors is unbearable, but once again is necessary if the killers have any desire to win. It's always a one-sided stomping, no matter who ends up on top.

The only people saying that 2v8 survivor is fun are 1, people who haven't even played survivor and just play killer clogging the queues up, or 2, trash players who haven't played the game in years who are having a honeymoon phase.

There are a few other ways to ameliorate the problem, but none of them are too fun for the player. For example, you could just make 2v8 a random queue where you get randomly selected for survivor or killer based on your preference and how many games you haven't been waiting to play the other role. I actually have a feeling this is the option they will take.
I reckon for incentive they should add some token that you earn via playing survivor in 2v8 that you can then use to get a priority queue for killer. Idea being people would rather spent the 10 or so mins in a survivor game then looking at a "looking for match" screen and it would cycle players round. Most likely a stretch but only thing I could think of
surv should have all 4 skills unlocked from the start. Having unbreakable when you're dead on hook just gives players the ability to slug from the start with no consequences.
I waited 12 minutes for a match, only to have the wraith AFK so I got to play 1v8. The match was over before it started and the gens popped absurdly fast and then I got to be trolled by asshats who clearly had to have seen I was alone. Then back to another 19 minute que time....yay
Did you not watch the whole video? Sure killer is fun, but the survivor role isn't. Not to mention that the queues are trash for killer and is hardly worth waiting for 30+ minutes for one match. And again, this 2v8 crap is tanking the regular killer queues as well.
What I find hilarious is how much survivors complained about the completely balanced and not broken at all remote hook mechanic from the anniversary event, only for Bhvr to use this stomping mechanic which is infinitely worse and actually does alter the game. Now survivors aren’t encouraged to use flashlights, which is half the fun of survivor imo (and I think many would agree with me). And without perks, there is no DS, or really any perk build variation aside from the 4 classes. All that is left are gens and looping, the former of which is generally boring af. Looping surprisingly can be fun in this game mode (juking a nurse and a wraith at the same time is awesome lol) but often times I find myself getting two pieced before I even make it to a loop. I think 2v8 a good idea but currently a flawed execution. Maybe, just maybe, they can experiment with not inviting friends to play killer with each other. Remove the team factor and I bet a lot of people would be less inclined to play killer.
Totally agree. They killed the killer role with this mode atm. This is the first time i want a mode to end asap. Its fun but it has to go. I am waiting 10+ minutes for a normal killer game as well. Also, waiting 30+ minutes for a game to play 8-10 minutes is actually pointless, the 2v8 ends in a beat. If they made the "stomping" take like 3 seconds, something like casting it it would be better and also more fun for survivors, they cant take items anyways so in order to blind, they need to find it in a chest so it wouldnt be OP.
easiest changes i can think of are more classes, but limit it to 4 choices with rotation. Decision paralysis can be detrimental to some. longer stomp/hook times with ability to save. maybe with slower/faster hooking speed when the 2nd killer is nearby (incentivise splitting up or staying together for killers) secondary killer classes. Something along the lines of team class or solo class. in conclusion, some variety is definitely needed as currently its a simple arcade mode that's gonna last 2 weeks before they put it in rotation for it to come back in 2025
I think 2v8 should be like the regular 1v4 mode but more gens and more hooks. Perks should be enabled for both sides and maps should be the same or just a little bit bigger than normal but not like it is now. That would make it more even. That would also help with queue times.
I dont think hooks and starter items would be fun. Imagine 8 brand new parts or you down someone then 5 people bodyblocking, or flashlight beams coming from everywhere, there is a lots of palettes for saves, they sabo all hooks and you have nowhere to take the survivor etc

As someone with only 1k hours 2v8 is boring AF there’s nothing to do on the survivor side of things at all killer is also boring , after 2 days I was bored. I’m not the best player in the world I still suck on both sides I’m still learning how to be a good killer and survivor. 1v4 is better then 2v8 by a long shot people only like it because it’s new it’s recency bias
I think one way they can make the stomping more balanced if they're lazy is increase the time it takes by 1.5 seconds and allow for it to be interrupted by pallet stuns or blinding which will let the survivor pick themselves up automatically in that animation like an unbreakable from downed state. It's a band aid fix to give survivors more interactivity for saving downs survivors. Edit: Another thing they can do is make ranked rewards for 1v4 mode, give us iri shards to give more incentive to go back to 1v4 for both sides.
There is mmr in this game mode. But the way the sbmm system works is that it starts to prioritize any available player the longer the queue time is. Since 2v8 killer queues take minimum 10 minutes, it doesn’t take anyone’s mmr into account at that point.

I don't agree, I don't think it would work with regular hooks and perks and I think they did a pretty good job with classes. Killer queues are terrible and it isn't fun to wait 15 - 20 minutes in a queue but there is a free weekend going on where anyone can play DBD so I don't know if that is effecting the queues so let's wait until that ends to see just how bad the queues are. I'm not sure a larger BP incentive to playing survivor would help, its 400% - 450% at the moment, I've been happily playing survivor for this and the instant queues but if a lot of people want to play killer I'm not sure you want to encourage less people to want to play killer as a fix as it could easily tip the other way and now survivors aren't able to get games. It is a casual mode so perhaps they should just fill empty slots with bots if killers are waiting too long for games, is a bot match after 5 minutes better than no match? I'm not sure but I'd probably take it than having no killer matches as the long wait vs the instant queues have made me choose survivor for this mode. I do think you have a point with when people are downed you just can't help them. It definitely takes away from feeling like a team. I don't know if the solution to that would be to allow the medic class to instantly pick up survivors in a trade off with being broken for like 30 seconds or something perhaps that could help with that.
Again, doesn't refute my points though. They need to add more depth to survivor gameplay, and also need more of an incentive to play survivor. if 2v8 becomes permanent it will overshadow the regular killer playlist, as people would rather play killer with their friend than alone.
I agree with you on this. If they keep this in the game at all they definitely need to enrich the survivor incentive as you said, otherwise just make it a custom game option. This would allow 2v8 content creation and events to exist, but not really effect the base game.

2000% is wack, the 400 is more than fine. Easy 50k for playing ok. Its hysterically surv sided simply based off how easy it to loop these days with high player skill. As someone newish (3 months) to the game, killer is a nightmare and a sweatfest. But the fun/frustration of surv gameplay is by far the better mode for me. But maybe being newer AND a killer/surv player taints my vision

@ProVengeance_ Masquerade with all 5 on bonus food yields about 150k but bear in mind that it requires all 4 survs to leave AND do well with healing, u hooks ect ect. 2000% is blatantly unreasonable. And besides, the surv role is actually pretty fun if you don't sweat it. The chaos of running around with a swarm of fellow ape brained survs makes it so much fun.

Would not wait to play killer in 2v8. Tried regular killer and the que was longer than normal. Not even going to bother playing during the event
for me 2v8 should be a weeknd mode or a monthly mode, not a permanent and always adding something new to improve the gameplay and the queue
