I would love to see you cover something from Pat Benatar, yeah I am old, but she had a world-class voice and classical training. Maybe "Promises in the Dark" or "Hell is for Children"
Singing is my greatest passion and I wanna be a singer one day. Floor, thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and insights with us! It is really helpful for me.
@@FloorJansenOfficial thanks for taking the time to reply! Also, I have one question: in your fan Friday episodes you answer our questions but you never read them out loud. I guess you just show them on the screen, but I am 100% blind since my birth so it is hard to understand what your answer is referring to, especially if you just answer with yes or no. Could you read out the questions or list them in the video description in your next episode? That would be awesome, thank you!
I need to hear #5 from one of the greatest singers in history. ❤️ I am an experienced singer, perform regularly, but still have so much to learn so to hear tips from an angel is absolutely priceless. Thank you!!
Floor, you know what I WOULD LOVE to see? You singing capela. No instruments, just your PERFECT voice, just that! For me you are the best in this universe, even I never heard aliens singing. I'm sure you are better than them!
Ahh, Floor, you remind me of my high school choir instructor (may she rest in peace). A wonderful woman who explained singing techniques in a way that was easy to understand and perform. ❤️
This is so wholesome...I am a self taught singer and people always ask how is that possible ...when I was 15 yrs old, I saw a UA-cam video of After forever performing live and I fell in love with your tone ...ever since that day I would watch every single singing video you were in and just emulated whatever you did ...you’re such a great vocalist that just imitating you made me a better singer
I am a somewhat classical trained (have had a handful of lessons)/self-taught singer. I have always struggled with utilizing a pop tone but through your masterclasses, I have found that my range has opened up even more. Thank you!
Nearly started crying at those Ave Maria examples. Incredibly beautiful! Besides that, I want to find me a band to sing in; I alreadyhave vocal lessons but theses master classes are incredibly helpful too. Plus, I watch videos from channels which provide either music theory or singing practice or both. Love singing so much!
You’re my favorite singer.Never tire of watching the Wacken OpenAir 2013.Perfect performance.Would love to hear your Ave Maria rendition with subdued instrumentation. The singing should dominate totally in that piece,in my humble opinion. The Metal rendition of O holy night in Finnish was absolutely fantastic.Only your beautiful pure voice for Ave Maria, please😎Best wishes from Florida.
Onmogelijk de beste zangeres van de wereld te kunnen evenaren. Ik zal nooit een nachtegaal zijn/worden maar ontzettend gaaf dat je dit zo met ons wil delen🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I am really interested in different vocal techniques, especially distorted singing and vocal compression (fry/false cord growls, screams, compressed belts etc). Been trying to learn most of these myself for the last couple of months during the pandemic, gotta admit it was really fun and i actually unlocked some skills i never thought i could. But of course, I barely scratched the surface. Therefore i would very much like to see something regarding compression and distortion in your next video. Best regards!
Hey Floor can you please do a full explaination from a song of showtime storytime wacken 2013 where you explain like techniques, styles, breathin support, pronunciation (from vowels f.e.) etc. as this is the best album ever recorded and reaaaaly appreciated from nightwish fans all around the world I guess it would be a full success
What could be better than to learn making music with your own voice? It's a beautiful instrument to have. When you learn more you can then choose how to use your own voice and the selection of songs you can sing could expand a lot. You can end up learning to sing your favorite song, which you thought would be impossible. There might be a certain song with some absolutely fantastic lyrics you'd love to sing. Maybe you create those lyrics yourself... When you sing those words out loud it all becomes much more powerful. Keep watching these videos and you will get there. Take care and have a wonderful day.
I love learning these techniques because I love singing so I know what my plans are for tonight. Driving my family and neighbors nuts with practicing. Hopefully I don't hurt someone's ears with my bad singing.😁❤️ Thanks Floor
Thank you so much for this, Floor! You are amazinhg and an inspiration. Please take care and stay safe. Looking forward for the show in Berlin this year. Love you
Floor, do you have absolute pitch (absolut gehör)? I am allways amazed looking at your live shows that you can have pauses for several bars, do some casual windmilling and then you, seemingly effortlessly, goes into a belt that gives goose bumps, and believe me, I have tried to find an onset slightly out of pitch that you'd adjust slightly; But No! Ok, this is your occupation, but come on!! UA-cam is riddled with clips with singers with a bad day at work... Not You! Just Amazing! -Are you so familiar with the feeling in all muscles involved in shaping the tone that you _know_ what is going to come out, or are you _that_ fast at adjusting the pitch that we can't pick it up, most of us 'commoners'?
I can't help but sit in awe watching you in your videos. A question for your Master class 5; When singing in a more natural way/ tone (for that individual) how can you learn to go more into a belt or even just a stronger tone without sounding like you "cracked"? I find when I sing, I think I sound fine until a higher belt or louder part in general, that I stop because I just can't get it out.
Dear Floor, thx for your amazing videoes. So proud to hear you talking about Cathrine Sadolin in this video (as a Dane and vocalist 🤘🏻). Looking forward to lesson #5. Have been wondering which vocal technique you favour. Now I know. Listening to your Nightwish perfomances I recognized Sadolin throughout your singing. Question: Do you ever sing with Neutral with twang (cheat belt)? Live and in recordings?
I don't sing... But I'm a workout instructor and have to give a lot of energy to my clients while jumping and huffing and puffing. Core strength is a real deal to not sound squeezed or squiky... But can you give some tips how to think for talking strongly while doing burpees at the same time 🥳
Thank you for this masterclass ! I'd love to have some info about singing during AND after pregnancy, it is a topic that almost doesn't exist... I didn't really have any issues until now, but I'm 3 weeks before delivery. Now I clearly lack power ! ^^ Anyway keep doing great masterclasses and most importantly : keep sharing your marvelous singing !
I would like to see more on the breathing techniques to strengthen the core. Also how do you handle stressed vocal cords? I have been out of the game for a long time and I find that it hurts to sing through entire songs.
Hi Floor. How can you switch from chest to head voice ? Also how can you create all these embellishments (I don't know the name in English) but I mean when you start in a low note and go up and then down or vice versa? Thank you it's so nice to see you. All the best for your family, pets and you.
Belting... 'I love it' she says... Well I love it too Floor, especially when it's you who's doing it! You don't wanna hear this 45 year old truck driver go belting!! 🤔😄 But back to the things at hand, I think I would really love to hear you perform 'The Power of Love' by Jennifer Rush... I'm really not sure if that's your thing, (I'm a guitarist, not a singer.) But still, I think when you 'verFloor' 😉 this song it will hit the charts!! ...thinking of it, verFlooren should be in 'de dikke van Dale'... Keep it up Floor, and that goes for the rest of your family too ofcourse! 🎼🎶🔊🤘🤘🤘

There are different ways of singing. It is interesting that the scientific and one of the most effective system was created by Stanley in 1920’s and it was not surpassed
May I make a suggestion for the videos? You guys do a really good job with the videos, but you might find it easier if you work with two cameras instead of one. I know from experience what it is like to try and keep a continuous train of thought going in front of a camera. It takes quite a bit of effort to have it all come out coherently and logically ordered. Having a second camera takes that pressure off for if we flub something, instead of an awkward jump cut, we can face the B-roll camera and state the corrected piece, then face the main camera to continue. In your masterclasses, a medium close up using the B-roll camera would let us see more clearly what you are demonstrating. In my amateur videos, I'm usually working with three cameras, occasionally as many as five and it really saves my day as I continually flub things. ;)
Would love something covered from Kate Bush with your voice and rendition. 'Violin', 'Babooshka', 'Suspended in Gaffa', 'Moments in pleasure', Leave it open', 'Reaching out' and so much more...
Woo hoo! I saw Cathrine Sadolin speak in Vancouver, Canada, in 2005 at the International Conference of Voice Teachers. I loved her lecture and I've been using her Complete Vocal Technique Book ever since!
