- Reading is essential. Kahit saan ka pumunta lagi siyang ginagamit. Mahalagang maging mahusay sa reading. Kaya sa pag-aaral dapat ma-develop ang reading comprehension skills.
Paano nga ba madaling maiintindihan ang binabasa? Heto ang 8 tips.
1. Focus ka sa binabasa. Mas okay na buo o 100 % kaysa hati ang atensyon. Mainam na komportable ka at busog.
2. I-feel ang binabasa. Kung story: Umpisa sa title, picture/images, characters, setting, at yung daloy ng kwento. Mas makaka-relate ka kapag isinasapuso mo ang binabasa mo. “Relate much” sabi nga.
3. I-highlight ang mga highlights o pinakamahahalagang impormasyon. Pwede mo salungguhitan, kulayan at bilugan. At gumamit ka ng favorite color mo para mas nakakadagdag saya habang nagbabasa. Kapag naiwan kc na wala cyang highlight parang hindi mo p cya nabasa db? So parang back to zero ang dating ng page.
4. Hanapin sa dictionary ang mga unfamiliar words. Halimbawa nabasa mo: “The prince hid in the mountains.” (Ang prinsipe ay nagtago sa kabundukan). Kung hindi mo alam ang kahulugan ng “hid” hindi mo malalaman ang ginawa ng prinsipe.
5. Isulat sa margins at ibang espasyo ang mga SID (super important details) at extra info. Kasi minsan kapag nasa ibang papel, hahanapin mo pa ‘pag review time. So, mas mabilis kapag nandon na sa same page mismo.
6. I-share mo ‘yong natutunan mo. The more mo siyang binabanggit, mas lalo siyang nare-retain sa isip mo. Parang sa bata, malalaman mo na naintindihan niya ‘yong binasa niya o ikinuwento sa kanya kapag nakakapagkwento siya tungkol doon. So storytelling, without looking at the book shows that you know and you understood the story.
7. Balikan ang mga nabasa na. Akala lang kasi natin alam na alam na natin pero ‘pag inulit nating binasa ay mas may nadidiskubre pa tayong impormasyon.
8. Love reading. Kung love mo K-drama, love mo online game, love mo favorite song mo, higit na love dapat ang reading.

Good Afternoon ma'am I am Shane Estrada, from URS Tanay Main Campus and I learned from this lesson is to focus on reading, and everything should have a schedule, to feel the story or the book, to find the unfamilliar words in dictionary to understand the sentence or that words, to highlight the most important details and the other details, to share the information you know about the story or research that you read, to rewind what you read and share to appreciate the story, and last to love the story. I actually love reading the story , nor to watch movies and feel them.

My most favourite tip is number 7, which is rereading or reviewing. because I don't always understand a text or a book on the first read. I realized how to better understand what I'm reading. The tip he gave is very helpful; when reading, give my full attention to whatever I am reading; this way, I will not lose interest in what I am reading while also maintaining the momentum to finish and understand what I was reading. We all know that we, especially millennials and gen-z, are distracted by the devices we have in this modern era particularly cellphones because of social media, and as a result, others lose time management and also not being focus to what they are doing because of being distracted and addicted in using gadgets even in the middle of classes or doing their assignment that is why some students becomes lazy to complete the module or having a low comprehension in what they are reading.

I really do love reading so i can relate to some of the tips especially in number 7 because when I read a lecture or story again, there is a high chance that I will comprehend it better. This will also increase my confidence because I will be certain that I have properly understood the information in its entirety. Of course, we will not only read one book or one type of reading. There are so many types of reading such as science, history books, novels, and various other types of reading. With the cellphones that we have, it becomes easier for us to get the latest news readings and all kinds of good reading, which of course will add to our knowledge of many things.. Because reading comprehension is a skill that improves like any other, you can improve your understanding with practice and a game plan. By mixing reading for study with reading for enjoyment, I can may increase my reading ability without relegating reading time only to the world of "work." Reading is an important part of our everyday life, and enhancing your understanding should never come at the expense of depriving yourself of the enjoyment it provides.

Readers can't understand what they are reading if they don't find the meaning of every unfamiliar words. Share what you read, it hepls you to remember it. Read it not just once. MABUHAY! I'm Jaybhie from URS Tanay Main Campus. In the video I learned that I need to set my priority comes first. In order for me to focus on reading I need to set a time for it, find a right , conducive and comfortable place to read, feel what you read by using my senses and stimulate my imagination to register the pictures and scenarios well,. Taking down notes and highlighting of important information, check unfamiliar words using dictionary to understand the word clearly and take down notes of new found words so it adds up to my vocabulary bank for future usage. Sharing what you learned to others is one way to recall the information and details that you understood from what you read. Re-reading is a great method to recall the details and information that once you learned. Once you read a text, topic or an article for the second or third time, it can give you more better understanding from the first time you read it. Lastly, love what you are doing. If you set your mind to read, find time to read and commit yourself into it without distractions.

But the thing that caught my attention the most in all of your comments in your videos is tip number three, which is that you should highlight the important information in what you are reading. and I have a habit of highlighting key points or important information in what I read. And what I discovered is that it is preferable to use highlighter colors that are truly your favorites so that when you look at what you are reading, you are inspired, stimulated, and excited, and you can also be creative in highlighting important information using symbols to better understand what is being read.

Thank you so much ma'am for the knowledge about reading, "READING" is really a must but in today's generation we already forget the importance of it, because most of us are distracted by the technology/online. To be frank I am one of the student that is distracted by online apps/technology, but when I watch Prof. Jocelyn Gagalang's vlog I really learned alot and I noticed that I am doing lots of mistakes when I am reading. It is true that "READING" is much more important than watching our favorite movies because we can highlight/write down the "SID", but when it comes to watching movies we sometimes don't have a chance to comprehend all of the scenes.
"READING" will really help us especially when we truly put our interest on it.

Thank you, Ma'am because this video helped me better understand what I'm going to read and some tips you mentioned, especially that I should feel the story I'm reading because I often think about the characters in the story and sometimes visualize it from my point of view. That way, I can better understand how the story flows. Furthermore, if there is something remarkably important to write, it should only be on one page because sometimes I can only write it on my scratch paper, making it difficult to find my notes when I need to retake them. And lastly, you must enjoy and love reading because this is where we can gain knowledge, discover new information and expand our vocabulary.

It is encouraging to read well with those tips and really understand well when you adopt the tips you've given. It really helps me to understand how to be good at reading. When we read, we really need to understand and clarify and also to exercise our comprehension abilities and analytic abilities those are really important. And then, of course, I have to love reading because it helps me a lot, it helps me discover things. Reading really provides entertainment, helps in expanding knowledge or really there are many benefits to be gained from reading so we have to love reading.

I'm from URS TANAY ANNEX. ☺️ The Important thing i've learned in this TIPS is I learn how to LISTEN, When i start reading myfocus entirely on the book to fully comprehend whatever it is about. The beautiful thing about it is that my viewpoint is rarely sought after. Reading teaches me how to receive information without having to speak. Reading also teaches us new vocabulary, which is a bonus. We may express ourselves in novel ways thanks to the fun and excitement of learning new words. They help us communicate our ideas more effectively and allow us to speak with greater precision and accuracy. Our work can be enhanced and our academic performance can be improved with a better toolset of words.

Some of your tips are I do sometime when I am reading even i don’t really love reading because I prefer to watch. But when I start to read I do that tip which is focusing and I started to get interested that is why I am writing some unfamiliar words and search it internet to better understand what I read and when it is story that I am reading I always put myself as one of the character to really appreciated the story.
