to me this song means that when you’re little you see the things that you relate to as beautiful, until society and parents tell you that these qualities are bad. when you’re little you see even your bad qualities as beautiful until someone else teaches you to hate them and yourself, for better or worse. it’s a warped perception of self that is taught to us by society and the negative words of people that are supposed to love us. there’s no reason why dandelions can’t be beautiful, but for some reason we all have it ingrained in our heads that they’re weeds. i love this song, both the message and the instrumentals. i especially love the acoustic opening and i hope you do more dark acoustic vibes in the future i really liked it gabbie🥺🥺🌼🌼
I thought it was talking about how some guys are just weeds in your garden, and how they keep multiplying, and you can’t escape the the guys who just waste your time. I like yours better though
“ you don’t want me in your garden” - is like you don’t want me in your life because I’m a dark, damaged weed at my core. I love that the more you dig into the song you find a different meaning to it! It’s amazing, I don’t think songs are real songs without a message and I love the one this one has!
I find the chorus echos "(dandelion dandelion)" so interesting because to me it sounds like children taunting or teasing a child in the way it's sung but it also sounds like Gabbie is telling us to call her dandelion because that's what she identifies with and she's proud of it.
I love how it says “Now it don’t look the same” after her mom pointed out that it was just a weed, when I listened to it, I took it as not having an insecurity and thinking you’re beautiful until someone points out one flaw, which causes you to see something that you never did before and makes you feel insecure about yourself and your appearance 🖤🤍🖤
i THINK she’s talking about how the when you’re a child and you’re innocent you may think dandelions are perfect the way they are. but then society will come and corrupt that telling you that they are not flowers they’re just weeds. “oh what a shame/now it don’t look the same” society and peer pressure changes your perspective on things. AND i think she is also saying that she felt like A dandelion as a child and she compared herself to a rose. “you don’t want me in your garden” was like saying people don’t want her. 😭 LOVE YOU GABBIE YOURE AMAZING AND SO TALENTED.
I was thinking the same thing! For me it's my ears. I never really thought about how they stuck out until I was in 4th grade and everyone started making fun of me. I took this song to mean that you can love something but someone else's perception of it can totally change that view.
No, you are wrong. She didn't go off. She failed to. If this is your type of music i feel bad for you. Her voice is awful, she has no talent what so ever.
LOVE this animation....i wanna know if she helped cause it seem like her style....also took me 4 times of watching the video to see the boob lmao(which i thought was funny)
I feel like this shows how people can find anything pretty but someone tears it down for what it is. Little kids see things as beautiful but adults ruin it by telling them it's not supposed to be pretty. I wish we could all keep our innocence and see things for how beautiful they are no matter what they are. 🥺❤
I love that there are so many ways to interpret this song. That is how you know it is a good song, makes people think deeper. I read a comment that the repetitive "dandelion, dandelion" was like a kid being excited however I heard it as maybe kids calling Gabbie a dandelion as in taunting her because her favorite flower is a "weed". I also love anything that shows the beauty in everything. Dandelions are beautiful, Gabbie is beautiful, this song is beautiful. There is beauty in everything, you just gotta look deeper. I'm glad this song exists.
one of her best songs. she is a talented writer and singer. she just needs to work more on her live vocals. that's it. Anyone trying to call her a horrible artist has clearly only seen her Genius interview where she blew out the microphone singing Monster lol. this girl has potential. keep up the work.
Okay now I have to watch that video haha but I completely agree, her prombelmaticness has nothing to do with her raw talent and shes clearly getting better
Personally I think that this could have an infinite amount of theory’s meanings and hidden messages cause it’s all one big allegory!! And my absolute favorite thing about it is the reason that it’s all an allegory like all her previous songs have meanings of course but some are just blunt so it’ll hit you a bit harder but all the lyrics in this are mind blowingly clever that I don’t think you could ever walk away from it with just one meaning and that’s because this in my mind is just Gabbies raw poetry transferred directly into song but not translated or “dummed down “ I feel like unlike all her other songs she didn’t hold back in the slightest and this is exactly how she wanted it so feel and sound and not to mention look! Like this music video is so simple yet complex so crude yet powerful its genuinely one big poem and that’s why it is easily my favorite song of hers already and I am so so so excited to hear the rest of the ep and get the new books !!!💕💞💗
i think it means her mom said she would support her with anything and give her the support she needs but when she told her mom what she wanted her mom told her that is not a lifestyle to live and that she can not support meaning she can not support who gabbie is
1:24 I love the Romeo and Juliet reference, it’s such a powerful concept. Names are just names, they don’t change the value of the object/person itself
@@euxphoxrixa2987 I think it's because the drawing morphs into Shakespeare, but other than that I couldn't see any direction Romeo and Juliet reference 🤷♀️ but maybe the reference is overall like the power of the name(capulet / montague like flower / weed)
@@euxphoxrixa2987 You're not stupid, it's alright. It's a refrence to the line "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" in the play Romio and Juliet. -I think Juliet said it. It was when she was talking about Romeo being a Montague, and trying to figure out if names, Montague or Capulet, really makes a diffrence. Whatever they are, they're still a person you love. Like Alexis M. said, names don't change the value of a person.
I do have epilepsy and boy let me tell you it was a shock to see! Luckily I was in a very well lit room with the screen dimmed. As soon as it happened it immediately decided to scroll to see if there was a warning in the description or comments. Even though I didn’t see you’re beforehand, thank you so much for commenting a warning!!
I have so many different interpretations of this song. Each part feels like it's telling a different story, her childhood, her old life and finally her accepting who she is and loving herself unapologetically
This song is so special to me. Childhood trauma is life destroying. Being raised by a narcissist for a father, and a mother that emotionally volatile and seemingly incapable of unconditional love, it's so easy to let myself feel like a dandelion trespassing in someone else's garden. Just by existing and being me. Especially when my fears are realized by anyone who rejects me. This song is powerful.
Not true, they are flowers. They are Asteraceae, the same family of flowers as daisies, aster and sunflower. they are however Herbaceous flowers which means they have the same traits as herbs do, but this is true for like 90% of flowers
I feel like this is about her not being accepted by her peers or maybe her family but Gabbie pushing through it and loving herself anyway. This song is a BOP!
She says, "This is my best yet" every time..and every time, I'm like, "C'mon, really?!" Yet she does it again.. every.. single...time. There's incredible depth, creativity, lyricism. Her music and art are never a "one size fits all" and I can't get enough!!! Keep up the good work!
They are completely edible. I think the history is that someone brought them over when people were discovering ‘new’ countries and stuff. They are kinda like an invasive species.
In my mind the lyrics “Child, that one’s not a flower, that one’s just a weed” and “Now it don’t look the same” show how easy it is to stop loving something/someone and wanting it/them once you know that you’re not “supposed” to love it.
I love how it's like 'That one's not a flower that one's just a weed' and the multiplying and garden part too bc it reminds me of myself a little. Like everytime i start to like myself (flower) there's always someone that has to ruin it by just insulting me and that kind of things (weed). But in the end i'll just keep doing the things i love and being who i am and i'll keep evolving into a better human and i won't need any of the people that weren't there to support me from the start.(multiplying = evolving and don't want me in your garden) At least that's how I interpret it! Love it Gabbie, love You, you're amazing
*LYRICAL BREAKDOWN:* So basically the way I understand it, the dandelion is Gabbie. Basically she always thought of herself as a normal everyday person you'd meet. But instead she is portrayed as the complete opposite to others. *Then the entire chorus breakdown (follow with lyrics):* Means... _she is like a dandelion, something no one likes, and they can call her what they want, but they won't stop her, people try to get rid of her and they don't want her_ , essentially is what it means *Then the 2nd chorus:* The "yellow petals" are other people, so she still likes them. The saying "a rose by any other name" means people should focus on the important stuff a person has and not what they are presumed to be. Meaning people only see Gabbie from face value. " Fragile flower into a ball of grey" means all of this caused her so much pain and depression. "Took a deep breath and blew them all away", means she decided to push/send all the negativity away. Yeah😁that's my understanding of this amazingly written and produced masterpiece of Ms. Gabbie Hanna😂❤️😘🥺
@@jamieb8216 woah😳, so that means everyone thinks she just uses people and makes them feel worthless when she doesn't, 😭Gabbie really is a genius with music🥺
I love that “oh what a shame, now it don’t look the same” has a double meaning. First it’s like a child being like “wait... it’s bad?” because they just found out that their favorite flower isn’t something people want. Then it’s saying the yellow petals turned into a ball of gray and it’s like a “oh... it’s not as pretty anymore” kinda thing. I really love that.
i physically felt this song, this is so amazingly beautiful i can’t even describe! the singing is soo good and the music is so eerie and just on point. so amazed

the dandelion is ally bc she was wearing a yellow shirt the day she was buried alive and she was in her garden when she was pulled out also "A" was multiplying and last but not least when she said blew them away its like when ally and her friends when they do the shh thing lol
I honestly dislike Gabbie, but her voice is so mesmerizing. It got so much better than Monster, and I’m proud of her. If I heard this randomly, I wouldn’t have guessed it was her. Such a great song with a beautiful voice. Edit: I guess her behavior hasn’t changed, which is a shame but I still stand by her progress in music
@Roxanne Aktar she's just been on the side of UA-cam that's not my cup of tea. I tried watching her years ago first and I just couldn't deal with it. I like more art animation channels and also markiplier and jack as usual and people like them.
@Roxanne Aktar I dislike her because she is really bad when it comes to criticism. The whole "manage your expectations" thing is what started it and she hasn't really done much in my mind for me to think that she has changed. However, I do enjoy her music and I wish her all the best though!
Alex Munch same here. I enjoy her voice and her music, but on who she is as a person my opinion is vastly different. Talent and identity can exist separately, which some people fail to realize.
It makes it extra depressing once you learn that dandelions are actually really beneficial and are shunned for no reason at all. They aerate the soil, bring nutrients to the soil and help pollinators. It's almost like when people put you down and hate on you for no reason at all even though you still have a ton of value and worth.
Yes, and the yellow dandelions are edible, people put them in salads all the time they are really good for you, I think I heard somewhere they are also medicinal!!!
Ok but like dandelions are badass as hell. They can thrive basically anywhere and the harder you try to get rid of them the more they resist. If you mow one down they learn and grow lower so you cant chop them. Try to pull them out by the roots, if even a bit is left they grow back strong as ever. They thrive in harsh environments and on top of that are a ligit herb and beautiful flower. Dandelions are so freaking cool and i have always wanted a tattoo of one as a symbol of going through shit but still coming out strong as ever
I can't stop listening to this and trying to dissect every little piece... I'm truly in awe. That belt at the beginning gives me chills every time. The way the dandelion sketch at the beginning is like it's out of a scientific journal kinda gives me vibes of feeling like you're being scrutinized and have to show the perfect image of yourself to the world. The tiny details in all of this is just mind blowing.
Im from Denmark and here we have a term called “mælkebøttebørn” which means dandelion children. It describes children that manages to build a “normal” life even after growing up in households of abuse and trauma. They manage to break the mold. They are called dandelion children because dandelions can grow anywhere even through hard concrete. I just feel like it is really fitting.
Just Googled it and there's a whole field of study dedicated to the sensitivity categories of children: "Dandelions", "Orchids," and "Tulips." I had no idea!
Julia Plale i didn’t know there were that many! Children psychology is really interesting and there is so much to learn☺️ Thank you so much for adding that ☺️
Don’t lie who else thinks that this is her best song yet I love this so much!!❤️❤️❤️❤️ don’t get me wrong all her songs are amazing but this one just POPPED OFF!!!
"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet" - "Romeo and Juliet", William Shakespeare / At around 1:29 you can see a man holding a skull - referring to one of Shakespeare's most famous plays - "Hamlet". If you take into account the meaning of the quote from Romeo and Juliet you can see how it adds another layer to the meaning of the song.
Gabbie, you never disappoint. This is truely an amazing piece of work. I've been a fan since 2017. and it's so amazing to see how far you've come and how much you've grown over the years. Thank you for your art, and thank you for inspiring me to create mine. ❤️
Tarrah Shakespeare image usually references, “To Be or Not To Be” quote most famous in Hamlet. This monologue in Hamlet refers to Hamlet’s pondering the choice to live or die. =]
I’ve always loved dandelions😭 and my mother ALWAYS told me “those aren’t flowers they’re weeds.” But to me, they have always been the most beautiful flower in my eyes. This song touched my whole soul. I’m crying. Thank you gabbie, thank you.
Ok yeah but if you were gardening you wouldn't want them around bc ya know weeds tend to invade and ruin. There still pretty tho omg what if someone just made a garden only out of the types of weeds that have flowers.
I first saw this on tiktok where it was only "When I was a little girl my mama said to me what's your favorite flower, I'll get you the seed. I said dandelion, dandelion, that one's so pretty. She said child that one's not a flower, that one's just a weed." But I listened to the whole song- it's gorgeous. It really makes you think deeply. Thank you for this beautiful work of art
At the end she says: "so i took a breath and made a wish and blew them all away". You can interpret it as if she blows the seed away, but i kinda heard it like "i blew everybody away that saw me as a weed" as if she has shown them she is more than that.
Eva De Vries Every single line of the song you can use within your creativity and imagine the meaning within. It’s so amazing how it makes you think throughout the whole song and I love it all the way through
"call me what you want You can't stop me multiplying" I feel like this refers to hate and that no matter how much hate she gets she will continue to do what she wants and like a dandelion she will be everywhere to make people's wishes come true(aka make them feel better with her music). There are people that like dandelions and people who don't so if someone doesn't like dandelions(aka gabbie) there will always be someone else who likes it.
My little boy who is 5, cuts the tops of dandelions off and gives them to me a gifts. I put them into a clear vase full of water and watch them float beautifully for weeks.
It’s so frustrating because she seriously has SOO much potential of becoming a bigger artist and making it out there, maybe hitting charts. But her character and empathy is so twisted to her narrative and she’s always playing the victim that it’s hard to like her.
If she could just own up for the mistakes she’s made and stopped blaming it on everyone but herself, she could be looked up on by other artists. At this moment though it’s not looking to good for her, she’s not a good person
I have a hard time separating the person and their music. I absolutely will never purchase anything by certain singers who shall not be named. But. Damn. Some of their songs are amazing and part of my life soundtrack. It’s good. Lyrically and vocally. I despise that she wrote/sang it. She is a horrible person. And for now, wo redemption.
This song means a lot to me. I see it as a child learning how society views beauty. “Dandelion, Dandelion, that one is so pretty.” “Guess I don’t look the same”. “Call me what you want.” I see it as seeing past what society expects of you and being authentic to yourself, growing and doing what you want despite what society says you look or act like. I love your music, each peace has spoke to me so much, and this one truly is one of my favourites.
My favorite part of the animation is when the hand looks for a second like it's about to flip off the camera but then instead it points at the dandelion, like she's flipping the bird to anyone who thought she wasn't good enough and pointing to how she's thrived and grown and become a beautiful thing in spite of what they said.
I'm interpretating this a bit differently to the other comments I've read; an innocent girl who thinks dandelions are pretty, is told by her mother that it's not a real flower and is basically unwanted in any garden. But she still thinks it's pretty and compelling eventhough it's hated by many. The weed resonates with her, she feels somewhat like a weed herself. But dandelions are also strong, capable of breaking though asphalt and will return year after year because of it's beautiful, floating seeds. So she grows up to be robust like the dandelion, to withstand all the negativity from people around her. But suddenly, something in her life changed. She turned soft like the ball of grey; not weak, just peaceful and confident in herself and her life-choices. And she was finally able to take a deep breath and blow the final seed into the universe, with the wish that she'll never forget that you are who you are and not everyone's going to like that. And that's okay.
@@galaxy_mh9950 Gabbie has had a feud going on with fellow UA-cam star Jessi Smiles following sexual assault allegations from Jessi against her former boyfriend Curtis Lepore. Jessi and Gabbie’s friendship broke down after Jessi filed a lawsuit against Curtis, while Gabbie stayed close friends with him. Recently, the two have clashed again after Gabbie addressed their feud in an interview with TMZ. Gabbie previously had a clash with Trisha Paytas over rumours that Trisha had herpes. And now she’s getting cancelled again following another series of social media posts that resurfaced on the internet. Gabbie recently took to Twitter to say that the ‘cancellation’ culture has to stop. In her tweet, she addressed the current social media trend of cancelling people over previous comments. Instead, she asked her followers to understand that people can change and learn from their mistakes without getting cancelled all the time
When you were referring to yourself as the weed and no one wants you in their garden....... that was deep I also want you know you are not a burden and should never feel like you are a burden to anyone. You are an amazing, nice, and talented person. If someone has enough time in the day to hate on you they obviously have nothing better to do with their life. ILYSM❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My interpretation and messages I’m getting: - Gabbie had her own aesthetics and things she liked, however, they were affected by what her mom liked. Her mom invalidated what she liked. - “Call me what you want, you cannot stop me multiplying” People try to tear her down, but like the flower, she will keep growing and multiplying. - “You don’t want me in your garden.” I get the impression Gabbie’s and her mom relationship was complex, as she spoke about in previous work (like Monster). She didn’t feel welcome in her family, and knew she would have to branch off and make her own life. - “So I made a wish and blew them all away” gives me the impression Gabbie wanted to leave her early home life, and knew she needed a way out. srry for getting deep Gabbie lol
“That one’s not a flower that one’s just a weed.” That is so powerful. You can love something, but the constant reminder that others think that it’s weird or strange makes you walk away from it. People don’t want to be labelled as an outcast so they give up the things they love just so they remain “normal”. It’s a sad world we live in where people are ridiculed for what they love.
Yeah, I do understand why some people have trouble separating the art from the artist. However this song isn’t related about anything bad the artist did so it’s still really good in my opinion
Kate look, it’s your opinion. you can keep it to yourself:) trust me when I say this, Gabbie fans *don’t* mind if you don’t like her. you don’t need to like her or her music, but please don’t spread hate.
Everytime Gabbie says "this is gonna be my best music yet" I never understand how she can get better than how amazingly artistic she already is, but listening to this song has shown me the overwhelming amount of talent Gabbie has. I'm so happy and impressed and I can't wait to play this on repeat 🎶🎵🎶💛💛💛
Here’s the thing about dandelions that just blows my mind.. everyone calls them a weed. People pluck them and remove them but they are literally EVERYWHERE. You cannot ever really get rid of them. One of the messages I feel like she’s getting at is referring to herself as a dandelion obviously but also saying, you may not want me here, but I am here to stay and I will be everywhere. And the people that enjoy dandelions (like blowing them when they’re fuzz balls) are her supporters. The people she creates for who enjoys it and when they blow they spread the seeds for her to go further.. like... this is so fucking beautiful
my interpretations: - references to “when i was younger”, “mother told me”, children sing “dandelion” like a nursery: points to how this idea of her being a “weed” rather than a “flower” has been pushed onto Gabbie for a LONG time since she was a child - ofc the obv “flower” vs “weed”: beauty and of value vs being a worthless burden that nobody wants - “can’t stop me from multiplying” “i still love the yellow petals”: in the end, Gabbie still learns to love herself and all the parts people have hated her for, and continues to thrive and succeed. which essentially points to the theme of the EP title “Bad Karma”.
I have major depression that's been at its worst the past six-twelve months, coupled with the lowest self image I've had in a while. Petals for Armor has really helped me do some amazing reflection and healing - and now I can honestly and happily say that Dandelion is right up there. I feel so empowered and beautiful in all of this mess. Thank you Gabbie. 💛 Can't wait for the EP!
I know it’s a meme to hate on her for no actual reason for most of the internet but her voice is beautiful in this and the song lyrics are amazing as well
Listening to the chorus, when the background vocals sing "dandelion, dandelion" it almost sounds like children saying it in a sing-song teasing way. I'm thinking maybe this is a reflection of how she felt when she was young and bullied, like she was a weed everyone wanted to pick and pull at... 🤔
I found her back in December through her music and I immediately fell in love. Her music is so beautiful and powerful and you can hear the musical development through each song.
OMFG BEFORE THIS I WAS LITERALLY JUST RE WATCHING YOUR VIDEO FROM A YEAR AGO WHERE YOU WERE EXPLAINING ALL THE WEIRD COINCIDENCES THAT HAPPEN TO YOU, THEN I STARTED LISTENING TO DANDELION ON APPLE MUSIC AND JUTS AS THE SONG SAID DANDELION I GOT THE NOTIFICATION THAT YOU POSTED THIS WTFFFF
wow gurl that song makes so much sense now after thee last video gabbie uploaded omgggggggggg. "oh what a shame, now it dont look the same. i guess it dont look the same. OH WHAT A SHAMEEEEEEEE" my god this is so genius!!!!!! like how people like something and say it's so pretty and then they change their minds cz of the popular opinion of people omg how could i not get it beforeeeeee
My first thoughts are: The dandelions are people we see as friends or more. We ignore their flaws if we love them so we see them as a "flower" but they later turn out to be "just weeds". They're not good for us and they only cause suffering to the other flowers. This is beautifully heartbreaking.
I thought about my theory more. The lines like "I still love those mellow yellow petals anyway." are what sometimes happens after we find out the "flower" is actually a "weed". With a real person, when we find out they're actually not as good as we thought, we sometimes try our best to ignore it and maybe make up excuses for them. We simply don't believe they're that bad because we don't want to lose them. "Oh what a shame, now it don't look the same." we realize they're not bad and think about leaving them. No one would want a weed in their garden, right? But then what I said before happens. "You can't stop me multiplying" maybe multiplying the weeds? We can't help but bring toxic people into our lives. No one can stop that.
This song sounds like it should be playing in a movie while the main character is gonna do something badass or goes through a transformation. It sounds amazing
Or when a female lead finds out her boyfriend cheated and goes on a rampage either throwing out his stuff and tearing up his pictures or taking a baseball bat to his car.
it's such a different feel than your other songs and I'm living for it I'm for sure gonna be listening to this song on repeat can't wait for more music like this :DDD

I love how you used this line multiple times and it meant something different each time

to me this song means that when you’re little you see the things that you relate to as beautiful, until society and parents tell you that these qualities are bad. when you’re little you see even your bad qualities as beautiful until someone else teaches you to hate them and yourself, for better or worse. it’s a warped perception of self that is taught to us by society and the negative words of people that are supposed to love us. there’s no reason why dandelions can’t be beautiful, but for some reason we all have it ingrained in our heads that they’re weeds. i love this song, both the message and the instrumentals. i especially love the acoustic opening and i hope you do more dark acoustic vibes in the future i really liked it gabbie🥺🥺🌼🌼

The animation is really good
As someone currently making an animatic, he's earned my respect since the beginning. 🤩🤩
I feel like this shows how people can find anything pretty but someone tears it down for what it is. Little kids see things as beautiful but adults ruin it by telling them it's not supposed to be pretty. I wish we could all keep our innocence and see things for how beautiful they are no matter what they are. 🥺❤
Yes 👏
@Ariana Grandelatte I know 😍😊
Like how people tear down gabbies music just cuz they don’t like her but it’s so genuinely good
Well said! 👏👏👏👏👏
She wasn’t lying when she said it was her best one yet 🥺
lizzie grumble we say that everytime she releases a song😫 she never disappoints us❤️
Was not expecting a full body shiver at that first drop...
I personally prefer "perfect day', but this is amazing-
And don't even get me started on the art like h o l y-
Astrid H I know right! The transitions the colour- it’s just all so pleasing and beautiful
Astrid H yeah i agree this video is really nice especially with the art but perfect day was just such a bop. I think it will always be my favorite
I only saw the genius interview. And this song is very good.
Yes! Her personality needs some things to work on (*cough* adultolescence), but she really has the potential to do more.

This is a wholesome comment, a lot better then a lot of them thank you.
This is beautiful. I can feel the emotion in her voice, and the lyrics really hit hard. Gorgeous.
I LOVE IT SO MUCH EVEN THOUGH I HAVENT FINISHED IT

This animation is literally my favorite animation I’ve ever seen, it’s flawless
Gray Lewis Crisp it was the artists first animation :)
@@TheGabbieShow That's impressive
Yeah I love the animation
@@TheGabbieShow If that's actually their first animation, I can bet 100% they're a hardcore perfectionist
Honestly I really like this song. Definitely an improvement over her poetry book.
Yes, I feel like music is so much more her thing
this song is actually from her newest poetry book of the same name!
@@letterborneVods wait she wrote this? I used to see so many ppl using it on tik tok
@@livvlife she didnt write it
@@yusufberksadkoglu4611 yes she did. The people on tik tok took the sound from her lmao,it's her original song.
Like this music video is so simple yet complex so crude yet powerful its genuinely one big poem and that’s why it is easily my favorite song of hers already and I am so so so excited to hear the rest of the ep and get the new books !!!💕💞💗
i think it means her mom said she would support her with anything and give her the support she needs but when she told her mom what she wanted her mom told her that is not a lifestyle to live and that she can not support meaning she can not support who gabbie is
"pulled from the dirt"
"that ones just a weed"
Did not expect this kinda personal attack-
lmao im kiddin love ya gabs x
"She said child that ones not a flower that ones just a weed"
THAT HIT SO CLOSE TO HOME. Gabbie come thru with the lyrics
I like this song better than the others. Less effects sometimes creates a better, richer sound.
1:24 I love the Romeo and Juliet reference, it’s such a powerful concept. Names are just names, they don’t change the value of the object/person itself
how is it a Romeo and Juliet reference? srry I'ma little stupid lol
@@euxphoxrixa2987 I think it's because the drawing morphs into Shakespeare, but other than that I couldn't see any direction Romeo and Juliet reference 🤷♀️ but maybe the reference is overall like the power of the name(capulet / montague like flower / weed)
@@euxphoxrixa2987 It's a quote referencing to Shakespeare! "What's in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet?"
1:49 FLASH WARNING
I dont have seizures but damn that wasn't good for my chronic migraines.
I love the song though. This is not a hate comment at all.
Maybe saved me a migraine too dude
Thank you! I don’t have epilepsy either but I get overstimulated by light very easily 💖
I had the same thought! I hope she puts a disclaimer.
This could be a song for the “evil queen” on once upon a time! It’s so good
oh, true
Ashley Stewart omg I love that so much!!
i agree!
Oh my goodness I can definitely see this being in a movie
Gabbie this could be a theme song for a show or something. It's been stuck in my head all day. It's so good,
Because Why Not? Same

If Pretty Little Liars was still on
Nazime Rodriguez THATS EXACTLY WHAT IT REMINDED ME OF
@@nazimerodriguez991 I was just about to say this. Love it
I want to see Irene’s reaction to this song for it is a spectacular piece of art! Thank you for making this song!!
Fun fact: Dandelions aren't flowers OR weeds. They're herbs.
Not true, they are flowers.
They are Asteraceae, the same family of flowers as daisies, aster and sunflower.
they are however Herbaceous flowers which means they have the same traits as herbs do, but this is true for like 90% of flowers
It's a flower AND a weed
Why
Fuck no
Also my favorite flower is Foxglove. Look it up 😆😆😆😆😆😆😈😈😈😈
I feel like this is about her not being accepted by her peers or maybe her family but Gabbie pushing through it and loving herself anyway.

Jodie Carter I agree
I’ve seen you evolve from yelling at the camera telling stories, to storytelling in art form! U have evolved so much❤️ I’m so proud of u!✨❤️🌼🥰❤️❤️❤️
Wait dandelion is a weed? I used to eat them when I was little 😳😭
Radioactive Cat lol a lot of people eat the don’t worry
see you in the after life
They are completely edible. I think the history is that someone brought them over when people were discovering ‘new’ countries and stuff. They are kinda like an invasive species.
Gurl... I...
You can make dandelion honey so they’re edible!
these visuals are sick as hell, and I can literally hear how much you’re voice has improved over time, I’m truly impressed. I love this song and you!
I love the art!
Totally agree with u!✌️
In my mind the lyrics “Child, that one’s not a flower, that one’s just a weed” and “Now it don’t look the same” show how easy it is to stop loving something/someone and wanting it/them once you know that you’re not “supposed” to love it.
mmhmmm.
i love this
tilly carter TILLY!!!!!
Am I the only one who’s had the chorus of this song stuck in my head for DAYS
No
*LYRICAL BREAKDOWN:*
So basically the way I understand it, the dandelion is Gabbie. Basically she always thought of herself as a normal everyday person you'd meet. But instead she is portrayed as the complete opposite to others.
*Then the entire chorus breakdown (follow with lyrics):*
Means... _she is like a dandelion, something no one likes, and they can call her what they want, but they won't stop her, people try to get rid of her and they don't want her_ , essentially is what it means
*Then the 2nd chorus:*
The "yellow petals" are other people, so she still likes them.
👏👏
Also being a weed sucks life out of other "plants"
So this is basically "i'm different i'm not like other girls" but like in a song
Wow this is smart
If this is what Gabbie meant then that is the most amazing lyrics I have ever heard
Like for real😱
@@jamieb8216 woah😳, so that means everyone thinks she just uses people and makes them feel worthless when she doesn't, 😭Gabbie really is a genius with music🥺
I love that “oh what a shame, now it don’t look the same” has a double meaning. First it’s like a child being like “wait... it’s bad?” because they just found out that their favorite flower isn’t something people want. Then it’s saying the yellow petals turned into a ball of gray and it’s like a “oh... it’s not as pretty anymore” kinda thing. I really love that.
I remember picking them for my mom and she liked it but also told me it was just a weed XD
This proves even more that she needs to go on tour and sing her heart out. This song is so powerful like all of her others

the dandelion is ally bc she was wearing a yellow shirt the day she was buried alive and she was in her garden when she was pulled out also "A" was multiplying and last but not least when she said blew them away its like when ally and her friends when they do the shh thing lol
Sameee
@Roxanne Aktar she's just been on the side of UA-cam that's not my cup of tea. I tried watching her years ago first and I just couldn't deal with it. I like more art animation channels and also markiplier and jack as usual and people like them.
Same here, i heard someone sing this and i liked it so i searched it up and i was surprised to see that Gabbie made it
@Roxanne Aktar I dislike her because she is really bad when it comes to criticism.
I love how the melody of the verse is kind of like a nursery rhyme suggesting childhood
It makes it extra depressing once you learn that dandelions are actually really beneficial and are shunned for no reason at all. They aerate the soil, bring nutrients to the soil and help pollinators. It's almost like when people put you down and hate on you for no reason at all even though you still have a ton of value and worth.
Madison Shepherd not to mention the flower is edible and really flipping good for you 🤷🏻♀️
Madison Shepherd yes you plant them before you ever plant other stuff to get the nutrients flowing.
Yes, and the yellow dandelions are edible, people put them in salads all the time they are really good for you, I think I heard somewhere they are also medicinal!!!
Madison Shepherd not to mention they can be used for cooking and witchy stuff for those of us practicing witches out there :)
Whoop there it is
I was always the annoying kid in the bunch. No one ever wanted me in their "garden". I feel like you just gave me a name for it. Thank you.
Dandelions are so freaking cool and i have always wanted a tattoo of one as a symbol of going through shit but still coming out strong as ever
nah cuz now I love dandelions too, that shit is so cool
I can't stop listening to this and trying to dissect every little piece... I'm truly in awe. That belt at the beginning gives me chills every time. The way the dandelion sketch at the beginning is like it's out of a scientific journal kinda gives me vibes of feeling like you're being scrutinized and have to show the perfect image of yourself to the world. The tiny details in all of this is just mind blowing.
saaaame!!!!
Ida Dahl that’s such a beautiful word
Kat Alex it really is
Just Googled it and there's a whole field of study dedicated to the sensitivity categories of children: "Dandelions", "Orchids," and "Tulips." I had no idea!
Ida Dahl That's so beautiful, thank you for sharing ❤️
Julia Plale i didn’t know there were that many! Children psychology is really interesting and there is so much to learn☺️

Ok yeah but if you were gardening you wouldn't want them around bc ya know weeds tend to invade and ruin. There still pretty tho omg what if someone just made a garden only out of the types of weeds that have flowers.
Omg I can’t even right now, Gabbie just liked my comment!😭🥺❤️❤️ I didn’t even realize until now😭 I love your music so much.
Thank you for this beautiful work of art
it kind of reminds me of "Pretty Little Liars"
Omg..yes!
Best show ever
Gabrijel Vukojevic ye I got those vibes too
At the end she says: "so i took a breath and made a wish and blew them all away". You can interpret it as if she blows the seed away, but i kinda heard it like "i blew everybody away that saw me as a weed" as if she has shown them she is more than that.
I like how this songs make you think.
Eva De Vries
Every single line of the song you can use within your creativity and imagine the meaning within. It’s so amazing how it makes you think throughout the whole song and I love it all the way through
I was early and i didn’t even try. Also i like this song!
Same, that’s how I thought of it to
"call me what you want
You can't stop me multiplying"
I feel like this refers to hate and that no matter how much hate she gets she will continue to do what she wants and like a dandelion she will be everywhere to make people's wishes come true(aka make them feel better with her music). There are people that like dandelions and people who don't so if someone doesn't like dandelions(aka gabbie) there will always be someone else who likes it.
kostas kalis No, she said she likes dandelion in the live stream
Literally. It broke my heart to learn she'd been cancelled. But all good things must come to an end at some point or another.
*had
lol No. She doesn't.
This made me feel so many emotions. And her voice during the chorus had me SHOOK. A masterpiece. So excited for the album :)
This is literally her best song yet. Trust me, Gabbie will go FAR. Keep going, Gabbie! 💓💓💓
I love the impact that this song had on my thought process and just me overall. Thanks alot Gabbie.
I think I like this interpretation the most. It's the one I relate the most to.

I love Gabbies voice so good
When you were referring to yourself as the weed and no one wants you in their garden....... that was deep
I also want you know you are not a burden and should never feel like you are a burden to anyone. You are an amazing, nice, and talented person. If someone has enough time in the day to hate on you they obviously have nothing better to do with their life. ILYSM❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My interpretation and messages I’m getting:
- Gabbie had her own aesthetics and things she liked, however, they were affected by what her mom liked.
Jordan Christian I relate, got mom and dad issues
“That one’s not a flower that one’s just a weed.” That is so powerful. You can love something, but the constant reminder that others think that it’s weird or strange makes you walk away from it. People don’t want to be labelled as an outcast so they give up the things they love just so they remain “normal”. It’s a sad world we live in where people are ridiculed for what they love.

ikr! i won't be surprised if one of her songs just make me ascend into another dimension if i haven't already lol
If you share her art online it is like blowing dandelion.. so it spreads out and reaches more people! OMG!
it’s not that deep i promise lmaoooo
This ties perfectly into what she was talking about on her video about her poetry
Wow
Oh my god, I never would’ve thought of that

- references to “when i was younger”, “mother told me”, children sing “dandelion” like a nursery: points to how this idea of her being a “weed” rather than a “flower” has been pushed onto Gabbie for a LONG time since she was a child
- ofc the obv “flower” vs “weed”: beauty and of value vs being a worthless burden that nobody wants
- “can’t stop me from multiplying” “i still love the yellow petals”: in the end, Gabbie still learns to love herself and all the parts people have hated her for, and continues to thrive and succeed. which essentially points to the theme of the EP title “Bad Karma”.
@Cock Sucker wtf!? 😒
@Cock Sucker If you think gay is weird it's not TBH YOUR NAME IS THE THING THATS WEIRD
Sorry for all the foul language.
I’m 4 years late but I’ve finally been introduced to this song AND IM OBSESSED!
“I do not believe in weeds. A weed is simply a flower that someone decides is in the wrong place.” -Sister Monica Joan (call the midwife charecter)
Beautiful
omg i love that show
:)
OMG I just watched that episode!
I love that show!
I love that show!
Literally everything is perfection, the art, the vocals, and the lyrics. This is officially my favorite song ❤️
This is so goooooood!
I know it’s a meme to hate on her for no actual reason for most of the internet but her voice is beautiful in this and the song lyrics are amazing as well
Jess didn’t she steal the lyrics from a poem-
ikr... thats the whole point
@@cookieseditsteehee9586 what poem?
Cookies Edits teehee what poem lol? If you mean Shakespeares poem, artist and writers have been using his lines for centuries as inspiration.
Well it’s not for no reason but yeah
Listening to the chorus, when the background vocals sing "dandelion, dandelion" it almost sounds like children saying it in a sing-song teasing way. I'm thinking maybe this is a reflection of how she felt when she was young and bullied, like she was a weed everyone wanted to pick and pull at... 🤔
María Presley oh shit that’s deep
THATS WHAT I THOUGHT TO I THOUGHT I WAS INSANE
Gabby has came such a long way with her music career. She is honestly one of my favorite artists. 🥰😊❤️❤️
I found her back in December through her music and I immediately fell in love. Her music is so beautiful and powerful and you can hear the musical development through each song.
MauMau Online me to
OMFG BEFORE THIS I WAS LITERALLY JUST RE WATCHING YOUR VIDEO FROM A YEAR AGO WHERE YOU WERE EXPLAINING ALL THE WEIRD COINCIDENCES THAT HAPPEN TO YOU, THEN I STARTED LISTENING TO DANDELION ON APPLE MUSIC AND JUTS AS THE SONG SAID DANDELION I GOT THE NOTIFICATION THAT YOU POSTED THIS WTFFFF
wow gurl that song makes so much sense now after thee last video gabbie uploaded omgggggggggg.
My first thoughts are:
The dandelions are people we see as friends or more.
OMG YESSS
She should make another video for fun but with a scene like that lol I'd love that
Or when a female lead finds out her boyfriend cheated and goes on a rampage either throwing out his stuff and tearing up his pictures or taking a baseball bat to his car.
I was thinking exactly the same!
Yaassss
it's such a different feel than your other songs and I'm living for it I'm for sure gonna be listening to this song on repeat can't wait for more music like this :DDD
Everybody said she can’t sing. Now look at her. She sounds like heaven😌
She's always been able to sing, she's just not always on pitch lol that's always been EVERY singer's issue no matter who they are. Everyone just likes to point out the flaws and critique the artist lol nothing new
