  • In this rambling Vlog I talk about food, obesity, cars, nurse training and other random subjects.
Not what I'd intended to Vlog at all!
The Audi 80 story was meant to explain why the weight went back on. Driving rather than walking/cycling..... and of course, you don't notice the change unless you weigh yourself regularly.
I was also tempted to talk about BMI and how overnight in 1998 branding 29 million Americans fat overnight. I didn't talk about this as it's a BIG subject (and if you're interested, is worth reading around).
"And get this: While epidemiologists use BMI to calculate national obesity rates (nearly 35 percent for adults and 18 percent for kids), the distinctions can be arbitrary. In 1998, the National Institutes of Health lowered the overweight threshold from 27.8 to 25-branding roughly 29 million Americans as fat overnight-to match international guidelines. But critics noted that those guidelines were drafted in part by the International Obesity Task Force, whose two principal funders were companies making weight loss drugs. In his recent book Fat Politics: The Real Story Behind America’s Obesity Epidemic, political scientist Eric Oliver reports that the chairman of the NIH committee that made the decision, Columbia University professor of medicine Xavier Pi-Sunyer, was consulting for several diet drug manufacturers and Weight Watchers International."

The Obesity Myth, Paul Campos is also a good read.
My intention today was to talk about importing a British car to France and our experience with our VW T4 camper. I'll do this another time.
    Thanks for watching.

I'm french. Traditionally we eat "tartines" for breakfast, bread with butter or/and jam or honey. Could also be cold "charcuterie" or cheese like my grandfather did.
And kids drink "cacao" chocolate drink ( milk + some big spoon of chocolat ) Adults coffee black or with milk.
All croissants, pain au chocolat are only treats, or could be a sunday breakfast if you have a bakery nearby and enough money ( quite expensive breakfast for a family of 5 !)
Nowdays breakfast are more hot drink + cereals with full of colour and sugar.
The health authority repeats that bread is better than the sugary cereals. The breakfast should be with a non white wheat bread or plain cereals like oats.
And nothing better for the goûter ( after school snacks) than bread and Chocolat bar inside if you want a treat.
There are really tasty non white bread, with diverses cereals grains, with a different cereals mixture rye....I like the Nordic (kraken) style.
If you really want white baguette, go for a tradition one, better the nutrition and taste.

We don't often eat bread. We don't often eat carbs. I have some Nordic style slices in the fridge for when we do want something like that.
I am horrified at the amount of sugar in the diet nowadays (hidden sugars in food) and the breakfast cereals here in France are way too sweet. Sugar served with coffee as a norm. I had visitors coming the summer before last, I had to really search hard for a no sugar added Muesli for them.
When I do buy baguette I always buy Tradition. If I make bread I use a mix of Seigle and Épeautre.
The Health Authority are behind the times, sugar and cereals are not good. Cereals pushed since the 50's by Kellogs! Many Drs still support this myth.
I find I am uncomfortable if there is too much bread in our diet. Happy to go back on Monday to Low Carbs.

@@KathysFlog cereals as process sugary thing for kids aren't good at all, that what the health authority also says and try to promote more healthy food like the breakfast and goûter from before.
We need low sugar or carbo, I now choose the one with low Ig like basmati rice, whole cereals pasta, non white bread, lentils family.
"Pasta don't make you fat, it's what you put with that make you fat"
I try weight watchers some times, succeed to loose 33kg but regain all because I still have my main problem, the stress. Loose weight before COVID, put on quiet a lot since, I have to go really back to my diet, and my cardiac coherence exercices.

Carbs are the best in the morning, I`m told but I sleep well after carbs so eat them in the evening as well. Trying to choose healthy ones. Grains in particular. I pop banana down my throats before my morning walk. Watch out for small, maybe organic bananas. We were told Costa Rica takes the banana branch unripe and gas them when in plastic. They are never sweet and always dry. Those little once much better, I buy those for children.

@@KathysFlog I found it last night and replied, just forgot to mention that 37 billions of British pounds who were allegedly spent on track and trace, are unaccounted for. John Major spoke yesterday about this government disgrace, whatever difference it brings.

@@ulapickford6236 Ulla, I have given up shouting about this and other things on Twitter. I learned several years back that using Twitter places you in a bubble of your choosing. We choose to follow like minded people and sometimes like minded people follow us back. We retweet their tweets and tweet our own tweets AND it leads us to believe we are a majority of people thinking like this WHEREAS in fact, it's just our bubble saying what we want to hear. I was devastated when Labour headed by Corbyn didn't get in.....I'd seen so much to suggest he/they were ahead. It was my bubble that had lead me to believe that. I stood up for Corbyn around the anti-Semitic accusations, I was labeled anti-Semitic!
So, I may not shout so loudly nowadays but believe me, I am seeing the corruption and live in hope that the bastards will get their just desserts.

@@KathysFlog I hear you lovely lady, I am a Corbyn`s supporter, I am consumed by politics like my father was in 70, 80, then in Poland. I`m not in a bubble I have wide interest, gardening and food, healthy cooking, the planet. I suggested twitter, because there we could talk in private, here we can`t, as far as I know.
