MItch -- that might be the best "civilian" vid I've seen about doing your own wrenching! Thanks! Your channel makes me want to go get a Vespa (again) to share the garage with my Kawasaki Vulcan 2000...
Great video Mitch as usual 👍 one tips for everyone: before you attempt to drain oil, always check if you can actually an screw your filter cup / dipstick. Otherwise... you be screwed 😉
Pro tip: replace the copper seal at the same time (it costs almost nothing) and if the screw is already out, put a little new gear oil in so that the remains of the old fluid are flushed out. Otherwise everything was done perfectly!
Vespa manual says every 3000 miles i believe. I change mine every year even if I don't hit that mark. When you change your engine oil, change the gearbox oil too.
Please help me.. I have 3 simple questions. 1. Do we drain all the old oil? Yes / no 2. How many cc of new oil do we add in total? How many 250/300/400/500? 3. How should the bar look when we check it on the bar? How do I know if I have filled in correctly or incorrectly, more or less? Please explain simply. 4. Do I need to start and stop the engine and check the rod again? Thank you Vespa gts 250 2013 years 30.000 km
I can answer those. 1. Drain it all. There will be a little at the bottom of the gearbox that won't drain, but just unscrew the bold and wait until it stops dripping. That will get most of it. 2. The amount of oil will depend on the model of scooter you have, but it will be in the owners manual. 3. There will be min and max markings engraved on the dipstick. Just keep it between the lines. 4. You do not need to run the engine or ride the scooter. The level will be accurate as soon as you put it in.
Now that's the way it's done. Seems like everybody wants to remove the rear wheel, which is a lot of work for nothing. I only remove the wheel when I need to replace the tire.
Either 75W90 or 80W90 is perfectly fine, it's the last number that really counts. I'm currently using Febi 32590 (semi synth 75W90 GL-5) in my 2007 LX 125's rear hub and can tell there's way less "engine braking" happening than with the old mineral Agip 80W90
The 300 about 80 mph. The 125 about 65 mph. I have the 300 and I would highly recommend getting one. It has decent acceleration and mid-range torque for a Vespa. And would sit comfortably on the motorway all day at 65 mph cruising speed.
According to the owner`s manual and other youtube videos on the subject for the GTS 300, you have overfilled the transmission oil. ROBOT for example quotes only putting 150ml in, not 250ml and maximum level is the first mark past the dot on the bottom of the stick. Your thoughts?
Just did my Vespa 200L and wonder what engineer decided that it should be accessed through the rear wheel? Completed the task and then found the copper washer on the cardboard.#@&*#@.

Whenever Mitch has a video on something, your job is already halfway done, he makes it that easy. Thanks man.
I am most envious of the bird sounds, while tinkering with Vespa. Cool stuff. Leant something, too 😅!
Well done, and very helpful to see someone else do it first, just made it so easy neat and clean
Thanks for this video Mitch! I was able to change the gear oil on my Vespa 300 GTS because of it. Great job!!

Thank you. I was searching and searching for that drain plug bolt.
You’re welcome! 😊🙌🏼

Take it out first to help drain oil
Great Video Mitch!!! Love the raised white letters on the tires, super cool!!
Thank you Tango! Yeah it is!

Another great video. Thanks Mitch!
Glad you enjoyed it!
I like your new 300! Beautiful color.
Thank you!! It’s my customer’s, I wish it’s mine 😂😂👍🏼
Great tutorial showing everything needed. Thank you for what you do........
😄🙌🏼
Great job, thanks for sharing. Just a question : it's necessary to change the oil transmission every two years ? 😀👍👊
Vespa manual says every 3000 miles i believe. I change mine every year even if I don't hit that mark.
When you change your engine oil, change the gearbox oil too.
Thanks for the helpful video: chrystal clear instructions!
Thanks Mitch! Super useful and nicely done video! I have a leak back there on my ET4 :( Any thoughts on hunting that down?
Vollsythetisches Hypoid-Getrieböl SAE 75W-140 von Liquid Moly, fahr ich in meiner GTS aber das Video ist Super
I'm using Shell Advance Scooter Gear Oil but viscosity 15w40 .. but most brand in the market is 80w90 viscosity .. is it fine?
Please always take a test drive to make sure that the oil does not foam. If so, there is not enough oil in the gearbox.
Actually foaming means there is too much oil.
Please help me..

I wonder if you realize how asmr your videos are 😎
Haha didn’t think about that, gonna make a long video one for my other channel “Great Escapes”
Hey Mitch!:)
Great video as always thanks! May i ask where did you get the signed oldschool white Michelin tyres? What type are they? Thank you!
Now that's the way it's done. Seems like everybody wants to remove the rear wheel, which is a lot of work for nothing. I only remove the wheel when I need to replace the tire.
After how many miles or kilometers the oil in the transmission is changed?
Good video I learnt from that. Thank you
Glad to hear it!
Should’nt it be 150 cc of oil?
Hi
When i should change the gear oil of my gtv 300 for the very first time?(milage)
Thanks
Thanks I enjoy your vids!!

Thank you Turboxav!

Piaggio liberty 125ie 2011 use gear oil the same amount as Vespa GtS??
Why do you use 75w90 instead of 80w90? I know 75w90 is full syntetic.
Either 75W90 or 80W90 is perfectly fine, it's the last number that really counts.

Should you make sure level is correct
measure how much comes out
Put same amount back in 🤔
I put 50ml too much in it, will it be hurting something or will it throw it away by itself?
Bravissimo ed ingegnoso...
awesome video!
Thanks Brendan!
awesome, thanks
Thanks mate
Every Engineer who worked on Vespas with Piaggio should watch this video and feel ashamed.
Great vídeo congratulation !!
Which is top speed of Vespa gts ?
