I've got a December 2013 W222 S500L too which I bought last November. I was also surprised at how when cruising at motorway speeds - it sits around 1000rpm. I love the interior lighting - mine is also set to purple and brightness 5. I don't drive it in London though because it's too congested! ;o) It is by far the best car I've ever owned (and this is my 17th car). The ride is quiet, the 4.7 V8 twin turbo engine and 7g+ gearbox are a delight. It's miles ahead of the 2013 CL500 I had before (based on a W221). If anyone has the chance to own one of these - do it!

Well two things. 1. he has the ambient lighting on a very low setting so it doesnt iluminate much 2. their ambient lighting have two diffrent concepts. in the bmw the light sources are very sharp they dont shine much on ohter surfaces so you see strong lines and not soft light that distributes around the cabine
