gone 100% to 10%! really helpful I used to think after GRE over IPSEC I will have to move to GNS3 for DMVPN but the usage was crazy. Many thanks for the upload really useful!
I ended up in losing side. spent around 900 $ to upgrade PC without seeing this simple solution. Thank you very much for this video., but I'm happy to have my new upgrade PC.
Just to add as this will help someone once you have set an idle pc value for a router and this one drops your CPU usage, make a note of the value and then go into the template for the router and amend the idle pc value in their to the one you have used. You should then be able to drop as many routers as you need into GNS3 with no issues
Good stuff. I did this right away when I started using GNS3 and it really shows, right now I have 8 routers running OSPF and BGP in 4 different AS's and the load varies between 14% and 16%. to get that "no exec-timeout" command to run every single time i use a baseconfig as well. This is what I put in it, you later associate it with your IOS-image. ! hostname %h no ip domain lookup line con 0 exec-timeout 0 0 logging synchronous
Hello Shahed- I don't know that the current IPS appliance from Cisco can be emulated in software in GNS3. I have seen some older IPS versions that took excessive linux work to limp along, but I don't think the pain and suffering of setting the old version up is worth the time and effort. If I had a simple solution for getting it to work, I would share it with you, but I don't have that solution.
Hi, I am using ESXi Server and GNS3VM on it. I tried the steps as per the video. When I run idle pc on one router it works fine but when I start other routers CPU goes high to 100%. I tried with one router at a time for 5 routers and still CPU utilization is more than 50%. I am trying to find solution for this problem. Your help will be appreciated. Thanks

It's in the docs, but you summed it up quite perfectly. Saved a lot of time for someone who "forgot."
Thank You 1000

Thank you 1 million

I was always around 90% with 5-6 routers. After doing this, I am at 7% WTF!
wow !!!! my cpu usage went from 100 % to 25 % !!!!! THANK YOU
Holy crap this worked. I went from 4 routers pushing the CPU at max to running 5 with a CPU at only 20% Thats huge.
Thank you so much! - running 8 routers and an ASAv at 6-7 % cpu consumption!! - thx
Love u Keith 4 routers occupied around 95 % but after changed idel values6 routers below 25-50 %

Booting up one by one going to take much time. Though it gives actual feeling it also gives real cpu feeling
You are greate .
Is there any way to do the same for Palo Alto running on GNS3 ?
Sometimes it shows interrupt for 0.65565 ms !
Any suggestions ?
