- This is the story of a group of surfers who defined a generation. Taylor Steele's 1992 movie Momentum brought together the likes of Kelly Slater, Rob Machado, Shane Dorian, Kalani Robb and more, bringing pro surfing to the mainstream. Now, 26-years later we have an access all areas into the mindset of that crew. Full trailer, right here.

Wow, thought I was tuning into some great surfing video and was quickly swept up by the incredible journey this film took me on. I was not expecting the deep emotional response I had to the story. I saw a lot of myself in the lives of these guys and all I will tell you is it's worth a watch. Underneath it all, it has very little to do with surfing.
Spent countless hours watching Momentum on VHS. Taylor Steele and Jack McCoy were the gold standard for surf flicks in the 90's. I lived and surfed on the North Shore the entire decade...fond memories.
Just watched this on HBO. It has to be one of the best docs I've seen in a while. These guys are all my age and I have always dreamed of a lifestyle like that.
You just have to stop watch HBO and to do it if you really want
Looks amazing, a super interesting story and an incredible set of lives, and friendships. Most people dream of having a life this rich and intense. Well, I sure do
Grew up on these movies every day after school...looking forward to this one
It’s really impossible to overstate how influential these guys were, not just to American surfing, but the entire sport. If Elko, Carroll, Hardman, Pottz, Lynch, Richards and even Curren were the hair metal bands of the 80s, this crew was the Nirvana, Jane’s Addiction, Green Day, Pennywise, (pick your 90’s band) that broke open the door for a new generation. It was a truly exciting time.
This was a beautiful documentary. Surfing was secondary to their relationships. I loved it!!!
Momentum 1 on VHS was played so much i burnt a hole through the tape
One of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen, saw it on the plane.
haha, me too! Air Canada?
LoewenRanger United!
@@zanem499 They're running it up here on Air Canada too, had to keep pausing it to stop from bawling my eyes out in between two burly dudes on the flight. Haha!
LoewenRanger I was the same exact way 😂, it’s an emotional documentary
Awesome story- Glad it's being told!
I feel proud to be a genxr. Thanks guys.
Trailer looks good. I'd love to see the whole movie
100% on rotten tomatoes!!!! Only a handful of docs have achieved that!
My generation! tnks
Is there anywhere to watch this other than HBO?
Absolutely amazing

What is the name of the song at the end? "Now is all there ever will be?" i can't find it anywhere.
It's an awesome song. Can anyone help?

Why is Timmy Curran not being included with this group?
