This video series features my construction of the Sling TSi experimental aircraft.
The Sling TSi Kit is the airplane Sling fans have been waiting for. All of the style, economy and practical utility of the Sling 4, but with more SPEED! Harnessing the power of the Rotax 915iS or the all new Rotax 916iS turbo-charged, fuel-injected and FADEC engine, the Sling TSi maintains the quiet, comfortable and smooth ride with an extra dose of horsepower.
The Sling TSi features an all-new high speed wing design: optimized for the power and weight of the aircraft. The leading edge of the wing is flush-riveted for low drag. The forward fuselage and empennage are also flush-riveted. The landing gear is airfoiled, low-drag wheel pants incorporated and there is a new cowling design.
The interior, seating, ventilation and heating are improved for passenger comfort and luxury.
Although the Sling TSi shares a similar appearance and the distinctive “Sling attitude” with the Sling 4, it only shares about 20% parts in common. It is a completely new aircraft, with different design goals than the Sling 4. The main result of these changes is SPEED.

I love the detail of your build videos, you've given me a few good ideas for when I start building my 916 TSi. I noticed on a Vans RV14 build out of the UK, he also built a rotisserie for his build, as he was doing the avionics wiring himself and he found it much easier by rotating the fuselage 90 degrees to gain access. I will be very interested to see your finished rotisserie as I had the thought of doing one for my build, as I also will be doing my own avionics wiring.😀

Thanks! The rotisserie works great. I will be posting a specific video on it soon.

Excellent video as always. On my TSi build, I finished all the controls, eyebolts, pushrods, autopilot servos, and will also finish the insulation on the floor before putting the front side skins on. Out of order compared to the build manual, but my back just wouldn't have liked leaning over the sides doing all that. Found out some of it was pretty tedious. Putting yours on a rotisserie is a great idea and should make all that easier.

Good to know! Yes I have it on the rotisserie now and it works great for exactly what you are referring to. Will post that video soon! Thanks!

Anything is better than the foil stuff. I will use something different on my next TSi build.

Are you sure the fuselage has enough rigidity without the top on to support itself at odd angles on the rotisserie? I'd be a bit worried about the side loading when you roll it sideways.

I appreciate the question and also considered that. However there will be no weight except for its own. I comes down to this... I wouldn't want to fly it if the fuselage was that flimsy at this point.

@TheBaldPilot It appears to be a monocoque / stressed skin.. and I would not like to see what happens if you stress it with out all the skin secured. With a steel tube, you could just bend it back with minimal loss in rigidity.. but not necessarily with this aluminum tubing. Might consider checking with the Vans people to see if anyone has skewered a boneless skinless thigh.
