First time having the guts to watch a processing video and can I sell so well done. Didn’t freak me out like I thought it would. Question…what do you do with all the unwanted parts like the blood etc.? For people processing at home what would the homesteading farmer do to dispose of all that?

Do you let the chickens rest at all? If so, how long and where? Do they need to be on ice the entire time? I have ice chests so ice water or bricks of ice (letting the ice chest drain)? I'm going to be processing 15 chickens and keep reading that I need to rest them in the fridge for 2-3 hours but wont be able to fit 15 cornish broilers in my fridge haha. Thanks!

Hey Kandelina! They do not need to be refrigerated, but they do need to be cooled off completely before they can be packaged and froze. They can cool them in a tub or large cooler of cold water if that’s more accessible than a cooler/refrigerator. Just so long as they are cooled completely (cool to the touch even inside the empty gut cavity) before they package and freeze them.
