HKS proprietory compressor and turbine houings, and a really well matched turbine/compressor to emphasis on response. This turbo doesn't boast early spool, but it is ridiculously responsive ideal for roadracing. It has a lightweight housings, small package. The turbine housing is a SS V-band housing that matches with its thin-walled SS manifold. The entire manifold/turbo assembly was actually 36-38 lbs lighter a BoostLogic manifold and GT42R turbo.
T51R KAI is rated at 800PS, but usually are good close to 800 WHP. T51R SPL is rated at 1000PS, but several folks have cracked 1000WHP already on other engines.
the owner of the supra should take it this as a compliment...someone telling me my supra hardly moving on a dyno and making 600hp, i would be smiling, dont compare those 4 cylinders to these monsters. Nice sound!!!! wish if they made that for subaru.
Thank you... You are totally correct because this same Supra has a T51R SPL (76mm) since last November and is still street driven and runs on 94oct + meth. These kids just need to click into my profile, and see my updated videos. I can't believe folks are commenting on an old video when clearly I have updated videos on a monthly basis.
There is a 21000CFM 48" drum fan in the front of the car and was blocked by the Supra's hood on one of the video clips. Perhaps check out my many other dyno videos if you "really" want to see this fan...?
The SAFC has its limitations... This is probably the highest power that someone should use an SAFC on a USDM Supra TT because it lacks timing control. The factory MAF sensor is capabable of supporting 600WHP and this was done on stock injectors as well.
You can definately get at least 30+ PSI boost with a T51, especially with a supra. But in order to do that you can't go cheap, you have to replace everything.
Love your setup mate. I'd like a T51R for my supra but don't know if I could handle the lag, although yours seems to pull fairly hard from around 4500rpm which would be bearable for me. Have you had much headwork done to help with spool? I'd love one of these bolted onto a 3.4L stroker but my pockets aren't that deep :(
how are HKS turbos? i wanted to get a T78 if i got a supra, but im new to the supra world, ive always been a domestic person, but im in love with BMW's, EVO's, and Supras now. like on a rebuilt stroker motor, lets say a 3.4L, what would be the best turbo combo to put on there
You must be talented and gifted to determine "speed" on a miniature web video with under 28 FPS. You just flat out told me that a Supra trapping 128MPH looks slow... Unbelievable...
You do realize that you are commenting on an old video? This same Supra was already at 908 WHP w/ T51R SPL since last November. HKS has two trims for the T51R. The T51R KAI is a 71mm turbo and has peak efficiency range at 20-22 PSI and rated at 800 PS. The T51R SPL is a 76mm turbo has peak efficiency at 26+ PSI and rated 1000 PS. You CANNOT run 28 PSI on a T51R KAI on a 2JZ-GTE engine because it will surpass the flow rating, therefore, boost won't hold at redline... Ignorance is bliss...
WOW I really love the sound of the T51R spoooling. Can't wait to install one in my WRX

its like this turbo was made for supra !!! i love it

No prob, thanks for the props by the way. Somtimes short video clips can skip a lot of important details.

The Camry is doing great! Recently it has been pulled apart to revamp with a new TT setup on it. Soon you will see videos of it

T51's sound awesome!
damn, if you manage that I'd love to see it. This turbo is meant for boosting 2bar+, it's huge.
Depends on the head/cam/manifold/exhaust
damn that t51r sounds amazing.

just respect to this car
he runnin stock internals, so with proper set up should be good for 800hp , but I would have opted for the spl as previously stated.
Sweet Ass Supra man! I like the Song in the backround to! =D

thats pretty sick for 94 octane
isnt that turbo alone 4grande? also that whistle noise was it coming from the turbo alone at 54 seconds ?
i just fell in love
love the sound of that blow off valve!!
is it an HKS SSQV?
We are located in Ontario actually
can u pair a t51r front with a larger exhaust housing for better flow?
No idea where that idea came from. Very few people do upgraded twin kits.
@TheMagicalBikeCrew bad things happen on a rotary when it has 2mm apex seals..... not 3
what kind of BOV is this? thanks
@theramkids Why would you run boost that high on a rotary? Bad things will come, don't run more than 12lbs of boost.
What exhaust is that?!
hey is that SSQ BOV ??
can a hks ssbv handle hi boost on my 93 rx7 with a t51r turbo kit? like 20-25 psi?
when doyou hit full boost?
Why he still has a T51r and the SPL is just a little bit bigger. And hes still pushing 600 and some horsepower with a stock motor.
very nice
i would like to get one of these turbos for my integra wen i get one do u know were i can find these for sale ?
Obviously not.. a 71mm turbo is smaller than a 76mm... Just size your turbo based on your goals.
Torque is for those who can't make enough HP and not enough gears to keep the car into the powerband... =)
It's originally a TT to start with =)

Yeah, you're right. At least 28 psi. 20 is damn weak. This guy should be getting 800+ horsepower if he knew how to rebuild an engine.
damn right

wheel spin
@TheMagicalBikeCrew that comment was epic fail.
Wheel hop
2JZ-GTE
601 wheels power ???
5***** :)))
you can here that he is running low boost, the turbo isnt even spooling up properly!..think he should have gone for a hks T04 turbo instead!.
HKS SSQV.
APEXI
LOL tell that to the hundreds who run plenty more.
thats a pretty flat curve..
