For anyone wondering about the actual (non-sacred) geometry at play here:
The reason why this works is because each of these shapes is drawn using what's called "Isometric projection", where you can draw 3d objects on a 2d plane, keeping the angles equal to each other, while also keeping the length of all sides of the object to scale. It's mainly used for engineering schematics.
The way it works is: you draw a perfectly vertical line. This is your z-axis. You draw another line, crossing the z-axis at point zero, and rotated 60° clockwise/120° anti-clockwise from it, and that's your x-axis. You then draw a final line 120° clockwise/60° anti-clockwise from the z-axis, and that's your y-axis, and you then draw the individual faces of your shape on the three planes (XY, XZ, and YZ), that this produces.
The "seed of life" is essentially just a way of constructing a hexagon, using concentric circles, and since the angle between any two axis-defining lines on an isometric grid = 60°, and the angles produced between any two lines protruding from the centre of a hexagon also = 60°, you can then use that trick for constructing a hexagon to also construct an isometric representation of any 2D shape.
