Good day gamers, today me and my long lost twin brother ComplexlySample team up to teach you about dragons.
Before I got access to the official hypixel wiki I thought I needed to deal damage to a dragon to be able to drop a dragon pet. I tried everything from Necromancy to thorns without any success.
Luckily now that we have the official dragon information as well as the actual drop chances for dragon loot, we have several new methods!
Dragon weight is based on three things:
1) Base weight which depends on your position on the dragon leaderboard.
2) Weight based on your damage compared to the top damage.
3) 100 weight per summoning eye placed.
Based on how much weight you have you can drop different loot items.
We focus on 450 weight because that is how much you need to drop an Epic or Legendary ender dragon pet! To get there and AFK I need to place 5 summoning eyes.
I focus on Pet Luck by using full renowned superior, black cat and daedalus axe. My friend fan19 focuses on Magic Find by using sorrow armor and a golden dragon. This way he will get the dragon claw which ups my changes at getting a pet.
This video complains a full statistical analysis of the amount of dragons you need to do to drop your own dragon pet, as well as the best gear you could use to do it.
After that I do 100 dragons to check out the loot.

Thank you for the breakdown of the math! I've been trying to get an AotD myself and this really helped figure out the best odds!
(Edit: I found 4 eyes still the most efficient per eye, so let this be a lesson that the grind never changes in hypixel lol)

FunFact. If u have Crypt Ghoul Souls, spawned there is a chance that they will Attack Other players.
Idk how exactly that works, but I'm guessing that the Player need to kill a mob that is standing close to ur souls. The Cleave Abillity will then trigger the Crypt Ghoul's Souls and they will start attack the player.
However they can't deal any damage to the player, but it is still funny to scare some new players lol

@@SimplySample i think it's a RNG thing. When i tried this with a friend, we used Hyper Cleaver because of the Big Cleave Range and it worked only like every 3rd time
I found something similar in the obsidian mines. I spawned 8 miner zombies and when someone killed a miner zombie mine would swarm the player lol.

I am obliged to say that the change for you to get any helmet from a dragon was about 2% but the chance you dropped a old helmet from any dragon is about 0.3%

not sure if u read comments on old videos, but i will make the point that if you are going to be doing this as a team, then it shouldnt matter what person goes MF and what person goes pet luck, if anything, every1 involved should be going for the max value of MF + pet luck instead, to increase the chance of getting the pet. The reasoning behind this is that since you are doing this as a team, one person will probably get the claw anyway, thus the other two will not get it, and can roll for the pet with increase MF + pet luck.

ur Twin brother ComplexlySample stated that Superior Dragons are the only ones with their own exclusive loot. However, this is false as Unstable Dragons have an added drop as well, that being the Travel Scroll to the Dragon's Nest.

Mikey is working on that, you can use a statistical model to also see how lucky you have to be to make profit on drags
I have the calculator for the odds done, need to do maths for how lucky you have been and a few more things. I will go back to working on it when I have a bit more spare time

Not sure if this actually applies because I'm stupid and posting this without thinking about it, but is the Endermite pet actually better than Black Cat for pet luck, while using the Daedalus Axe? Because LVL 100 Endermite gives 10 Pet Luck (as a stat) and Black Cat gives 15 (as an ability). Iirc Daedalus Axe can only copy pet stats, not stats gained from abilities, thus making BC give 15 vs Endermite's 20. This isn't really applicable to this strategy, as you want at least some MF to increase your drop chance anyways, but it's a fun thought experiment.
Also, I might be wrong but I believe BC actually gives +15% MF vs +15 MF, and I'm not sure if that is also applied to Pet Luck. If it is, however, that might make Endermite even better for most players, since as far as I know, most players have less than +100 Pet Luck.

I got an epic on my 39th dragon. Even tho I fucked up swapping to black cat and sorrow. Most of the dragons were done before pet update so maybe like 5-10 dragons for a dragon pet
