Hats off to bobby for keeping a positive tone after the whole nasty transformation experience. It’s like assembling a ship in a bottle. Since when did these things become more pain than fun?
This exactly. When I started collecting MP transformers, I watched Bobby's videos to learn the transformations. Now I watch his videos to learn which figures I NEVER want to transform. The stylized/toon emphasis over the last few years has made these transformations overly complex and fiddly. Especially some of these newer FT pieces. But even the main line is guilty as well.
That robot mode is gold, but the transformation isn't worth the trouble and although the chibi-car is cartoon accurate, I prefer the real car that XTB uses
Bobby, thanks for doing this review. After watching Paik, TMReviews, and your video, I was able to avoid some of the frustrating spots and actually like this transformation more than MMC's version of Cliffjumper. Thank you for your sacrifice.
He looks so good in robot mode, but personally I hated the transformation. Just gave up in the end trying to get the roof down properly on the car. After the issues with untabbing the lower arms, the legs and then forcing the arms together below the car so the back can line up, the roof was a bridge too far.
Personally I like the head sculpt and think it looks better than the Hellion but that transformation looks frustrating and I will definitely break it with my gorilla like hands. Also, I do not like the car mode, looks to "chibi" to me. I'll stick with the Hellion.
Why does this look _so_ much more difficult to transform than NewAge's Cliffjumper!? That figure is as big as one of this one's legs, has just as many transformation steps, and is an absolute breeze. What mystical secrets do NewAge know about joint tolerances that no one else seems to!? EDIT: And it has an ab crunch!!!
Good review. I would suggest that you should probably wait until the Takara comes out so you can do only versus. I feel like a versus against the XTB one really isn't a good one as they go for totally different aesthetics. I would suggest the MMC version and then when the Takara one comes out as it's due with all leak photos...look forward to that video.
MAN, for a split second I thought you were gonna smash that thing! 😶😆 That transformation is a beast, and although he definitely looks better it's the same story with me as always: on an even playing field (where all were released at once) I'd buy this in a heartbeat. But things as they are, XTB Toro stays in the collection. Solid review as always, thanks! 😎👍
Limited articulation that is not related to the transformation so there’s no reason other then to save some money in the parts count department and all the associated expenses such as mold and assembly. As usual, for the money Fans Toys are charging they shouldn’t be cutting back on the articulation. It should have more range in the neck, some butterfly joints, double jointed elbows, ab crunch and better range on the feet. The transformation seems a bit fiddle but the end result looks good in both modes. I agree that the alt mode. Back looks a bit blank and I can’t understand why they used different plastic colors fir the windshields. Thanks for the review Mr. Skullface
I agree about the face - I think it's that the forehead doesn't sit inside the brow of the helmet like I'd like. Obviously, I'm not the target market - Fanstoys fans will buy it because they buy everything Fanstoys and nothing else so have no choice but to buy it; non-FT fans have moved on from MP because all the rival products are dead so have no choice but to not buy it. But, for purely academic discussion, if you're going with the super-deformed alt. mode, you definitely shouldn't need faux parts, in my opinion and the painted rear window panel not matching the translucents is a big fail.
Watching you do this made me laugh because that is how it went for me. 1st side piece popped off, second one didn't. 1st ankle was too tight and popped off instead of pivoting. The biggest difference was the sliders. I had to loosen the screws for my sliders to get the arms to fold around on the chest.
I think the issue with the face mould is to do with the spacing from the vertical lines (which track down from the eyes) and the lateral aspects of the face being too thin.
Cliffjumper seems to be one of those characters that the head sculpt is difficult to pull off. I recall people getting X-Transbots to change their Cliffjumper (Toro) head sculpt after the first one they showed off caused a stink. That Fans Toys transformation though...oof. Never a fan of transformations that basically explode the robot mode and try to squeeze everything together into a tinier form.
Dude looks like Blossom.....oh man..lmfao.....that came outta nowhere....hilarious. I agree about the head sculpt...I think the eyes are a bit too far apart.
@@insomniavfx thats exactly why....porsche have publicly stated "We dont want our products associated with an alien robot war" and while Takara might have a cj in the works, until Porsche give them the required licience to use the alt mode they will NEVER release it due to copyright infringmant
I've never been as frustrated watching a video as I was for this. Great figure, great detail of transformation, but WOW. That would have me speaking in tongues.
I think the head articulation is a, 'thing from that episode' so he can lay flat and use the sniper rifle without having to have an open ball peg on the back of the head. Yes the view from the front is janky with the full range used. But, to me, that is not how the articulation is intended to be seen.
Hey Bobby - in your opinion what's the worst Fans Toys figure to transform? I always thought Kup was the worst, but watching this makes me not want to attempt mine.
Man, sad to hear that. I wish the red was metallic too. I'm still going to pick it up but its a lot less cut and dried over which offering i'll keep now.
I like this version of Cliffjumper, but that transformation was less than ideal. I only had issues with the back of the alt mode and they’re the same issues everyone seems to have. The transformation is easier going back to bot mode for sure!!
Mann!! Not gonna lie! That was a creepy!! Joker like laugh!! Please keep it coming!! At one point I almost thought Bobby was going to throw the figure against Backdrop!! That would of been Amazing forsure!! I definitely can Identify with this!!..If Bobby would of Threw it!!...I would of said!! ...No! No! That thing Deserved it!! 👏😲
Robot Mode Check Alt Car Mode Check Transformation to get there? Sarcastic Comment Loading I think the Face is fine, it's the Best Face out there so far imo. FTs Cliffjumper is heads and shoulders about TTs Bumblebee. The car is cute, and looks accurate. Bot mode, is Excellent. The split is a tolerance issue and the different Window Blues is not good. Overall, FT did raise the Bar, as long as you DO NOT include the Transformation. In your case BS, not tear your hair out, but rip your Mask off. Good Review.
“This dude looks like Blossom” LOL! This folks is the direct result of your pining for toon accuracy for a decade. You wanted it! Now you got it! These difficult transformations and extra panels are what it takes to make a complex figure look bland. Not to mention it drives the price up due to the extra engineering it takes. Congratulations! I swear to god I wish the fu*kin toon movement would die. Why not have a cheaper line that does that.? Why put that in a “masterpiece” figure. The Masterpiece line started as a real world take on the characters and was designed to look good in BOTH modes. It’s a bastardization of something caught between CHUG and MP these days. Sad stuff. Great review as always Skully!
great video, but this is a NO for me. I think that some companies forget that these are toys. And you should enjoy the experience, beautiful figure but in order to get from bot to vehicle is a pian, NO NO NO
I have this guy on order but he hasn't arrived yet. Watching reviews the robot mode looks pretty good, not as good as some other figures but definitely better than MP-45 while still capturing those toon proportions. The transformation looks like trash though, it is a return to Fanstoys Fiddly and IMO that is a big step backwards compared to most of their recent stuff. Ball oegs on double hinges? Assemblies if parts just swinging free with loving points until you manipulate a half dozen panels around them to lock them down? It all seems a return to bad form and not fun or intuitive at all.
While it does feel like an eye-gougingly rough experience for you transforming it, I try to be forgiving of it, realizing that fitting all that robot into a little car like that has got to be some tough engineering. Maybe I'm being too forgiving? In any case, If I did get this guy I don't think I would ever transform him anyway haha.
And then both of my front bumper pins popped right out and fell in my carpet. I found one and got the pin back in, but I have no idea where the other one went. Over 100 dollar toy and it has pins falling out!? Jeez man.
I think this begs the question (perhaps for a Sit Down Saturday?): Is it realistic to assume you can have a clean, toon-accurate bot AND alt mode without having a complicated, fiddly, agonizing transformation? Based on this and some other figures, I would say for the most part, no.
Why buy transforming toys if you're not going to transform them? What's the point? Why not just buy non-transforming ones instead and not have any kibble issues and the like?
After not picking up the last 7 or 8 FTs releases, I decided to get Par Course...and boy after 2 transformation, the DBL arm Swivel connection is a mess. Either the screw is backing itself out slowly or it no longer holds tension to the body. Because the outer shoulder is tighter than the inner connection, the inner connection becomes the weak join. Please lube the outer shoulder before messing around with the figure, once the inner shoulder screw is loose, it's down hill from there.
I think the problem with the face is the eyes touching the side of the helmet. There should be a little grey between the eyes and helmet. The way it is here in Parkour, his face looks stretched out.
Feel like the part flying off when the table was pounded in frustration at 21:24 is the icing on the cake.
Hahaha holy shit. That was hilarious.

That was a good laugh. Don't worry, I'm gonna get one myself because it still looks good, and I survived Jazz too.
I “LOL” at your struggles in these bad transformations. Probably because it’s so relatable. Thanks again for all the great content🔥
“This dude looks like Blossom” is my new favourite Transformers review observation 🤣🤖👍
lol I bet a lot of people didn't get that reference.
I would like to take a moment to pay my respects to the sanity Bobby sacrificed to this transformation. Thank you for your sacrifice bobby.
He's actually shaking with rage this time.
I thought transforming robots into cars and back again was supposed to be fun.
Thanks for taking us through that complicated transformation.

Ooof. Nice looking, but I think I'll stay with my MMC version. Thanks for the review!
