Lake Charles Louisiana was a great place at one time,..with opportunities to grow into an even greater place,..but, some politicians stunted these things and greed got the better of it.💔
I've lived here all my life and Lake Charles is a great place with some good people and we always bounce back and we are doing it again thus time without much if any kind of help from the government like other places get when they are hit with devastation! We bounced back from Rita and we are coming back from Laura and Delta! That was a double whammy and then the ice storm and right after that a historic flood so what do you expect! You're in the worst area of town, but there are really nice areas to the south of town! We were in a construction boom before the hurricanes and one if the fastest growing areas, but we got ripped with 150 mph winds and that was a nightmare but we will be back! If you would have seen this place a year ago you would see how far we've come! We have major refineries that are constantly expanding here and we will never stay down!
Do you all ever go to the nice parts of towns? That is the absolute worst part of town! Even before the hurricanes! When I was a kid it was a much nicer area, but everything moved south and now that area is depressed!
@@jamesthibodeaux9606 Youre right, but when I was a child around 4 years old my Dad owned a dry cleaners on Railroad Avenue in North Lake Charles and that area was nothing like it is now and has been pretty much since the 70's like you said, but in the early to mud 60's it was happening! There was lots if businesses all along Railroad Avenue and I walked those streets as a little kid and it was Safe, but when the 70's came everything changed because everything moved south of town and people stopped coming downtown to shop because they built the mall and other shopping centers in midtown and South Lake Charles and those businesses on Railroad Avenue shutdown and eventually were torn down and now there's really nothing down there! Farther north there are businesses along Moeling and Opelousas St., but a lot if the people that live there either haven't gotten their homes repaired because their Insurance companies won't settle with them or they just don't have Insurance! They have been fighting for years to get businesses to locate in Nirth Lake Charles and get improvements to the area, but it's basically been to no avail! I don't know if they ever will be successful in getting it done and removing all the plight!
If I may be so big... My name is W. McSquirmy, licensed family therapist and professor emeritus at the Anne Hutchinson Institute for Spanking Ivy League Puritans And I happened to note that in this video there were a few disturbances- with respect to respect and loyalty. With all do respect, the disturbances seemed to have found their footing just as you were beginning to speak on one of your passions: the automobile. Just after passing that 300 with blades and the dr. pepper paint job, you spoke a few sentences on car culture and immediately the disturbances began. (I have some theories on this but it would require more sessions, this being my first.) So then, immediately following the E-Brake pulled a quarter mile into speaking on something that made you feel good, happy, and alive...You abruptly switched gears: "GPS me back to the highway" was your commanded. Who you were speaking to? An app? A servant? A wife? God? Who knows? I really didn't know at first. But with that commandment the door to commands was opened. Now She, holding the screaming map in Her hands, gets to listen to you be commanded by a loud, dumb, intrusive machine. Of course, after just having been commanded Herself, your lady will enjoy listening to this loud ass machine (thats she's presently in control of) shouting directions at you while you're trying to speak. At heart, no one is loyal to the big, dumb, intrusive machine. No matter how smart or needed it claims itself to be. But there are few among us that don't love the chance to feel in control. And the big, dumb, intrusive machine was designed to fill that very void. Loved your video, you guys are genuinely loveable. If you're ever near Anne Hutchinson University do look me up. Also, which house was the Daigels?

@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS public state officials get the funds for all the national disasters to rebuild, not the private property owners. So yes the people can't do anything if they don't get the funds from the state officials. I'm not saying that my state is all that great. Because believe me; it's not. But even most of the faults in its behaviors is most due to corrupt state politics. The only property's that get fixed are there's. Because Noone else gets much of Amy of the funds. They don't even use our paid taxes to fix the pot holes in road construction. And that's public property. Even bad behaviors towards spouses is also a learned habit from them. That's what Louisiana state politics teaches its ppl. That's why the men are so hateful towards the women because our state officials are mob and own the cops and can get away with murder on the women, and they extend that privilege to the rest of the men. Trust me, I can't wait till I can leave. The only part on the ppl that is the ppl in this argument is; laziness because the men expect the women to do it all and we won't because we don't like our own state men because of all the crap. The men are lazy the women have done more than enough and are both exhausted and fed up and we refuse that's how things in Louisiana got so bad. But the majority of it was controlled actions by the state government that chose to make the women slaves and more so the want use to be sexual slaves without anything in return without even obtaining our own integrity, and dignity. Because they want the men to let them rape us, the men get paid. But what do we get for all the damage? We get to refuse service and get more beatings. We only get to suffer. And we are the ones everyone rely on to do all the work. We refuse for a reason. But the men are just complete lazy and worthless. The only thing they know how to do is spread std's.
How u expect people not to commit crimes when they never build up these areas? Even before hurricane Laura they intentionally keep $$$ out of these areas in order to keep the jail and prison system full

I am from Lake Charles and lived here all my life except for 2 year in Hawaii because my husband was in the Navy. I know many people from "Gossport" is what most people call the part of town in this video. I lived off Hwy 14, on 9th Ave. growing up. I went to Rosteet elementary, Rosteet jr high and Lake Charles high with many people from Gossport area. I was a Lyft driver for two and a half years before hurricanes Laura and Delta, I moved all around those Neighborhoods picking up and dropping off lyft riders. I never once met anyone from Gossport that I Didn't like. Most of us are all good people, Even the younger generation are still taught Southern hospitality, to be polite and showed respect. Down here in the South they still say yes ma'am, No ma'am, Please and thank you. Just because you see the condition of the neighborhoods after 2 Terribly destructive hurricanes back to back, Does not mean you know the heart and attitudes of the people of these neighborhoods. It's misleading to show the neighborhoods conditions without getting out and meeting the people of these neighborhoods. You will definitely be Pleasantly surprised.
Sadly the people who watched this video will never get that wasted time back. I suggest you try to inform yourself before you pass judgement on a city. And don’t report on just ten blocks or so of a large city if you think being accurate is important.
You really should talk to people. It will improve your video. To put stuff in context. I would have been happy to talk to you and explain lake charles and the storms.

I've spent a lot of time in Lake Charles and the city is not in a good place. About 20% of the residents live below the poverty line and 8-10% are chronically unemployed.
Your problem is that you gi to the worst parts if a city and that is how you judge the city! Why do you never go to anything but the hoods! We had 4 natural disasters back to back to back to back! Try that and see what your city looks like afterwards and when you get no help from the government because your not in a well known city that has powerful and rich people that can use their clout to get things done! We have had to do everything without much of any help from the govt. just as we did when Rita blew through here! This city as I said was growing and in the middle of a Boom before the 4 disasters! Not 1 disaster and not 2 disasters or 3, but 4 of them! I don't know any place that's had that many disasters all in a really short period of time! Not even your precious Florida! Don't say things about a city until you know the facts and look at the whole city and not the worst area and that's it!

@@FLORIDAHOODVLOGS I know a lot of hurricanes hit south Florida! The only thing I was saying is that we always bounce back just like when hurricane Rita pummeled us and they called it the forgotten storm because it was barely talked about because it came right after Katrina which breached the levies in New Orleans and flooded the city and killed thousands and because our area has always been pretty ignored when it comes to the government responding to a natural disaster! They finally after a year and a half sent some money to help, but nothing near what was needed and nothing like they send to other more popular well known cities when they suffer similar disasters and it has taken more than a year and a half to get that little amount! We came all the way back after Rita with even less help and so did our friends to the west in Orange and Pirt Arthur Texas that were hit really hard also! They got no help! I just want you all to know that the things you saw while driving through here were results of the storm yes, but that us only part of it! That us a very depressed part of town that has been rundown for decades now and doesn't seem like it will ever change, but it absolutely doesn't mirror the rest of the city! Lake Charles is a beautiful small city that is on its way back and if you would see the whole city and see what it looked like right after the 2 hurricanes 6 weeks apart, not to mention a few months later 2 other disasters, you will see just how far we have come back and mostly without help from anyone but our citizens!

He's not that wrong though I hate to say. I mean yea Parts of LC seem super nice and others well, let's say it could be a fight to survive socially if you piss someone off the wrong way. Possibly as bad as Compton.
Hold on now my moms side of family is from North Lake Charles. My grandpa had a small church across from the middle school. Go to the other side, westlake sulphur and show the meth heads and pilled out soccer moms. Goosport for life and no I don't live on the north side
1st off you don’t know Lake Charles, secondly you didn’t do enough research on Laura & Hurricane Rita. South Florida has never seen or had any hurricane like Laura or Rita. Your opinion of our city is wack grew up here 23 years. & you didn’t even bother to move around the streets, that wasn’t even the worst “hood.” In Lake Charles. That little memo about criminals & hurricanes at the end was fucking terrible. You lost a sub. Thanks. ☝️☝️☝️
That’s my old neighborhood
Church street.
It was rough growing up there, but we made it.
I hardly recognize the place now. Still, I have nothing bad to say about it because it is where I had to learn how to survive. 2203 Church St is a place I’ll never forget ❤
Yep grew up in c too is rough but have great memories…

Lake Charles Louisiana was a great place at one time,..with opportunities to grow into an even greater place,..but, some politicians stunted these things and greed got the better of it.💔
Hurricane Laura Delta I saw news Lake Charles Louisiana. I remember seeing evacuation of lake Charles alot left for Texas never came back .
Head to downtown and Lakeshore drive to Lake st. and then to interstate 210 and get off on Nelson Rd. and tour that area!
@@dwainfontenot8063 I live in Lake Charles
@@dwainfontenot8063 That is north L C . It's always been the most run down part of town. I live in Sulphur now. Drove a cab in L C in the 70's
Bro north side isn’t that bad in wasn’t that bad ether. I from there It just look different then back then north side in the 90s was laid back in fun…
If I may be so big...
My name is W. McSquirmy, licensed family therapist and professor emeritus at the Anne Hutchinson Institute for Spanking Ivy League Puritans
And I happened to note that in this video there were a few disturbances- with respect to respect and loyalty.
With all do respect, the disturbances seemed to have found their footing just as you were beginning to speak on one of your passions: the automobile. Just after passing that 300 with blades and the dr. pepper paint job, you spoke a few sentences on car culture and immediately the disturbances began.
(I have some theories on this but it would require more sessions, this being my first.)
So then, immediately following the E-Brake pulled a quarter mile into speaking on something that made you feel good, happy, and alive...You abruptly switched gears:
"GPS me back to the highway" was your commanded.
It's called the rice mill the railroad where you at it is the hood I was born and raised from the hood not this one but I'm born and raised in lake Charles and I don't like it..you basically in a good hood the railroad not that bad..it's goosport fisherville,Anita drive, them some trap hoods stay away especially at night
I ain’t from fisherville but I been there some of my cousin from there. I from the Combre area in I went too that elementary school when I was a kid back then….
Anita Dr isn't that bad
The reason most places in Louisiana don't rebuild as much. Is because state officials pocket most of the money. So the ppl just can't afford it.
I had no idea it was up to public office to fix private property. I thought we lived in USA

Our old mobile home got destroyed by the hurricane
So sorry 😢
How u expect people not to commit crimes when they never build up these areas? Even before hurricane Laura they intentionally keep $$$ out of these areas in order to keep the jail and prison system full
how da crap do you expect people to invest their hard earned money into a toilet bowl that's spinning? You can't make it work for yourself don't expect others to do it for you
I am from Lake Charles and lived here all my life except for 2 year in Hawaii because my husband was in the Navy.
WOW!! 😳
The end of the video is just a rant. Lol
✌️🤣
That's why I didnt bothered to play the video. It's just rambling.
12:20 straight down that's my street. Had you rode pass thos bushes you've seen the massive destruction my grandpa's house underwent.
Go to Franklin, Louisiana and New Iberia, Louisiana
So he drives through N. lake Charles and calls the black people lazy.
He lucky he wasn’t around in the 90s when goosport had a lot people living there I bet he said that around that time he wouldn’t had made it out…
Sadly the people who watched this video will never get that wasted time back. I suggest you try to inform yourself before you pass judgement on a city. And don’t report on just ten blocks or so of a large city if you think being accurate is important.
You really should talk to people. It will improve your video. To put stuff in context. I would have been happy to talk to you and explain lake charles and the storms.
I work installing granite all over lake charles, mostly nice/ midclass spots only some rough spots ... I eat lunch and pump gas on a daily basis... trust me bro there's nothing but worl and opportunity out here 💯 shit I don't even live there I live and texas
Just left Gossport.Scary weather!!!
My great grandmother was born here.
Jose, they might have a lot of "graffiti problems" with the train cars,...
Don’t say anything about worst city
Welp welcome to majority of every small USA city or town
@@dwainfontenot8063 how many hurricanes do you think hit south Florida too? We recover. … the reasons people can’t come back are worth exploration and explorations too. Could be a better idea for the future if we understand the root cause of this problem
The mayor of Lake Charles is moral concerned about the boardwalk in an the Civic Center then about building more homes. A lot of the people on the side that you video or elderly people who have paid their taxes worked hard and couldn't afford to rebuild it's a very sad situation that we don't take care of our elders
You sure get around fast Jose!

You are very negative towards Lake Charles la. People are already hurt because no money for city but your comments are not helpful
its not like they have much of a choice. its their home. its all that they have. thats why they rebuild.

Dude how dare you come to my city and represent us like this. You drove in a circle. That area is not as bad as you make it. It's not a hood either. You don't know the stories. When my great grandparents came from Italy this is where they settled. It used to be the place to live. There are beautiful places in our city. Beautiful old homes, some in North Lake Charles. But you just want to see abandoned houses and buildings and keep comparing us to Detroit. I'm proud to have been born and raised here. And I'll defend my city.

U stayed in one spot the whole time one hood its probably best cause the other hoods they stand outside with guns even in the daytime and a white man riding in fisherville is deadly
This footage only shows one community in Lake Charles. I Notice how you make alot of turns when driving since you only want to target one community. Oak Park is nice. Midtown is nice. Car shop is nicer than this. South Lake Charles is nice too. Lakeshore Drive is nice. This video is highly biased and misleading to the entire scope of Lake Charles. You should be ashamed of yourself for having so much demographic prejudice.
