Unfortunately I bought the decon in blue/grey with the yellow & white sole before I saw this version. Imdon't need two pairs, so I don't buy the JJF. But I love this color really, good work John John Florence!
Darn, maybe you could paint them, ha? Someone probably makes an eco-friendly leather stain or something.
Just got the "Obsidian-Dark Shadow" Tracker Decon FG2 JJF.. but I'm thinking of dying the lighter leather a matte black.
Woah, that could be cool! You'd go from Tracker Decon to Tracker Ghost Recon. (:
Man, you’re right, it looks like the FG2 sole on this behaves totally differently to the FG2 sole on the Tracker Textile - there is NO toe/forefoot articulation on the TT, the toe protector they stuck on kills the flex so there’s no sideways bend, these here look much better in that respect.
Vivo are sometimes in danger of making non barefoot shoes.
Yea, it really surprised me when I tested the Decon's, like, wait...is this even the same sole?? The upper-sole-flex connection isn't something I ever considered before.
i loved the soles on this one, even while walking on asphalt i kept having the urge to take off running! though the recommended size felt a bit too big for me? felt like my foot slipped around too much, even on flat roads.
Yea, I felt the same thing, wanting to run. The lighter upper really makes the FG2 sole feel totally different and much more flexible. My normal size of 44 seemed to work fine, but yea, sizing can be a pain.
This was another upload bud 🔥🔥
Thanks, Ervin. The Decon's are indeed pretty dope! Beautiful job on your fallen trees adventure.
Love your videos, please do a review on Magna Forest esc review if possible
Yea, it's on my list, will do!
Hey Andrew, some great reviews on your channel 👍🏼...Q: Tracker decon FG2 (JJF) or Magna Forest ESC? - to be worn as an everyday shoe plus some walks!
Probably the JJF, because it's lighter and has a thinner, more flexible tread for roads and moderate trails, while the ESC is better for backpacking on super rocky terrain where you need a more beefy tread.
Awesome! Thanks
You got it, thanks for watching!
The Decon range seems to have disappeared from the Vivobarefoot site? Any idea why?
When something sells out it can take a while to come back in stock, especially with shipping/production delays post-pandemic. Lots of people seem to like the Decon's, so I expect they'll return.
Great video do you think they would hold up in rain if i put some sort of gaiter on it? struggling to find a boot for Yakushima in Japan i feel my salmons run to hot and im going spring time.
Light rain, yea, but the leather is pretty soft for flexibility and can soak through more easily. It's tough finding something that's both breathable and water resistant. The Magna Lite WR SG is great, but the sole is more geared toward soft ground. ua-cam.com/video/p1Ufraxz7z8/v-deo.html The Magna FG is another good option for all year hiking with good water resistance. I've been using it daily in the spring. ua-cam.com/video/NYIWI47hooA/v-deo.html
@@AndrewFolts im leaning towards the forest esc as feel these may be more waterproof. i have the old primus brown ones you have i love them there my favourite vivobarefoot.(i need to send them back to be renewed) I feel the tracker deacon would be like them just in a boot? have you ever tried adding a gaiter on top when stuck in heavy rainfall?
@@elldabell78969 Yea, the Forest would be more WP. The Decon would prob be similar to the old Trek's, yea. Don't own gaiters, but it seems a good solution.
@@AndrewFolts thanks man i think that confirms it il make the leap :D
How does the height of this boot compare with vivo’s magna and other tracker styles? From the video it looks taller than magnas but shorter than the other tracker boots. Or is it actually the same height as the trackers?
It's slightly higher than the Magna and slightly lower than the Tracker ESC. It's maybe a bit taller in front than my Tracker FG's.
Hi there. I'm looking these as an alternative to belenka winter boots and wanted to ask you about the fit.
I have a 26cm foot and a 27cm shoe is normally enough and I probably would go for size 43/US 10. In your experience the run true to size?
Also comparing to the winter boots from belenka could those be an alternative? Not as much water resistent from what I understand.. But what do you think?
Congrats on another great video!
Thanks
My feet are 26.67 cm and I usually get the 44, but 43 Vivo's work too. The Decon's are more versatile for all-season use, although not fully WP. You can warm them up with layers of socks ua-cam.com/video/_e6BC2vfl4w/v-deo.html and a wool felt insole. bit.ly/46EsKEu. The Be Lenka's are extra-wide and run a size short (or at least they did for me). They're fully WP, although the glue sole separated a bit at the front after two years. Not usable in warm weather, but very warm in winter.
Thanks Andrew! Very helpfull.
I had decided for the Belenkas even do I'm not a fan of the looks, but I found these in the olive colour size 43 and it made me have second thoughts.. Really like the looks! Even that I prever the colour you are reviewing, they are not easy to come across. Decisions.. Thanks again for your help, you are the best!
By the way, when you say that these could work for you in size 43 you got me thinking, because I was planning on buying size 43 also. In your opinion these run a little big?
Note: already have 2 pais of injinji on the way after the other Day :D
I feel that I didn't had to transition to barefoot, it really feels like I was in the wrong shoes before. Even the little changes in the walk benefit my back posture and I feel like this is the way to go. Thanks for your contribute!
@@arturfino I'd say they run true to size. Vivo's pretty consistent and I'm a 44 in every shoe I have from them, but probably the 43 should work for you too if you want it more snug.
After consulting with vivo barefoot help they say the dimensions of the size guide should correspond to the dimensions of the feet, so I think my size should be 42/US9. That changes my measures because I was thinking the cm were the free space inside the shoe, my bad.
And it goes along with you when you say the 43/US10 works for you.
Like!
Me too! (:
