Thank you for testing and posting this budget upgrade. I wanted everything to be compatible and went with U6000 and no surprise, shifted great even under load, but when it failed, it was catastrophic and sent me walking home. Down graded to deore and works great despite compatibility chart saying otherwise. Feels like a winning combo.
Broo, the housing is too short. You need to make it long enough, so that it sits vertically in the cable stops. Don't worry about making the loop a bit longer
After my initial problems trying to index this groupset, i ignored the Shimano b tension markings and wound it in to about 10mm spacing between teeth compared to their 19mm and it now shifts brilliantly 👍
I think the reason why the shifting is delay/slow is because the rear derailleur is e-bike rated, and e-bikes produces more torque, slowing shifting could reduce stress especially in chains (I did snap chain one time when shifting). But I don't know. Maybe the adjustment must be 100% precise and shifting well doesn't mean it's tuned.
@@OtterMTBtech Was starting to think that linkglides are made for durability and precision shifting instead of quicker shifting. My 8-speed tourney tx-800 can shift faster than my 9-speed cues u4000. I only bought the set for commuting/touring for daily use because it's advertised as 3x durable. Overall shifting down faster is more beneficial than going up since I never anticipate the terrain that there will be an unexpected climb. It is indeed very capable of shifting underload (more silent and faster).
Oh it's compatible to the sram chainring, it's what i wanted to know! Already riding cues lg700 and I'm much more satisfied than with 11speed Hyperglide
I just purchased the Cues U8000 derailleur and received it today. Out of the box honestly, I'm a bit disappointed. The derailleur feels cheap and also kind of looks cheap. I decided to go with an 11-speed Linkglide XT shifter and the Cues LG400 cassette arrives tomorrow. I'll be installing the groupset on Friday, wish me luck because I absolutely suck at adjusting rear derailleurs. I'll probably adjust it as much as I can then take it to my LBS and have them finish adjusting it by correcting what I screwed up lol. It's sad I've built my bike from the ground up and I still can't adjust a rear derailleur correctly if my life depended on it.
@@randomdrifter I got it all installed today and actually was able to get the gearing right for literally the first time in my life, lol. Shifting to lowest gear (biggest cog) is nice and snappy but for some reason shifting to higher gears, aka, smaller cogs is a bit slow. I don't know why up-shifting would be snappier then down-shifting. Regarding the XT Linkglide shifter it feels weird. Before this Cues groupset I was running the HG version of the 11-speed XT shifter and the shifting was nice and snappy with an audible click when I shifted a gear but this Linkglide XT shifter shifts more like my old SLX shifter. TBH I don't really like the feel of it because I can't really tell when I'm shifting into a gear. I'm probably going to take my bike to my LBS and have then check out the down shifting issue and maybe look at the shifter. At the worse I might end up buying the actual Cues U8000 shifter but i really don't want to.
This derailleur also works with 2× chainrings too I have managed to pair 10 speed ltwoo r7 shifters with it and a 11 to 50 tooth cassette and it works quite well
Man I just had my first derailleur experience, I've removed it and reinstalled but never replaced with different they're Gremlins that pop up. And the replacement had that same kind of play you've gotten right there. Sucks frustrating.
I just have upgraded my ebike from Alvio to Cues 9 speed (full cues package). Shifting is awesome but i'm not happy with the rear derailleur! Do you know if the Shimano CUES U6000 rear derailleur works with cues 9 speed?
@@JitinMisra For my bike the Alvio does a better job at retaining the chain. Apart from that it's a horrible flexy derailleur. Cues U6000 didn't work (not compatible). I'm currently wait for the short cage version of the Cues u4000. Officially the derailleur capacity is slightly too low but it my last attempt to get Cues properly working for my ebike...
@@detmer87 Why didnt the U6000 work? The pull ratio is the same across the cues lineup and all of the parts are designed to be interchangeable so I assumed it would be an option.
@@drew6166 I tried it. Indexing was off, I had 2 or 3 clicks left in the shifter when it was already pulled on the largest cog. I ended up going with the short cage version of the cues 9 speed derailleur. It doesn't have a clutch unfortunately but it does a much better job compared to the long cage version. Also less flexy.
Hi, I have just had similar shifting issue on my Dura Ace Di2 11 speed. It turned out to be the B-limit screw, I had to much distance between the rear derailleur's top pulley and the cassette larges cog. I had done this to tighten up the chain. Turned out that I needed to shorten the chain to get the correct distance. At 2:50 in the video it seems to me that the gab on your setup is really big, this might be what is causing you problems.
Fitted 11 speed linkglide w/ x01 chain. Shifts great under load so far so good. Short delay with changes. Had sram GX 12speed for nearly 5yrs until the derailleur pulley bolt fell out. Quality gear. SRAM shifter and derailleur nicer quality. The xt deore shifter feels clunky and cheap
I'm considering upgrading my drivetrain to CUES U8000, x1 x11 from x3 x9 Deore and Alivio mix. U8000 is supposed to be higher quality than U6000 so hopefully it'll be smoother. Any tips to watch out for?
Im convinced this u6000 cues stuff is garbage. Wobbly cage like yours, wobbly shifter cover and the 2 small cogs keep coming loose despite the lockring remaining tight. I can't index it either. Just ordered a new hanger to try that. Ive never had this much hassle fitting a new transmission before.
Same, this entire video was to highlight that. It’s not Cues it’s all Shitmano drivetrains. Tight tolerances. My bike shifted like a champ with Eagle. The Cues not so much. It was Actually the outside housing was bent in the ebike. You might need a spacer behind the cassette to make it tighten, I made 2nd video of how to fix it. The cassette is really bomber best thing in group the set Been running good since changed to short cage.
Not many people have talked about the new Shimano sealed bearing hubs yet. Some feedback would be nice as they were released around the same time as CUES... 😎😂
Can’t understand the issues you’ve had. Your outer cable is no good - far too short… that’s affecting your shifting. These CUEs groupsets shift beautifully and are very forgiving of setup mistakes… if you just follow Shimanos instructions re: b tension, chain length.
Yep, that’s the linkglide 11 speed. You could even use the 11 speed shifter on 10 speed. Just push the limits in. I have 9 speed cassette with 10 speed shifter.
4:00 "this is absolute full power shifting" Out loud to myself I said "well don't do that." I dont even think its a good idea with the new sram transmission where its marketed as a key feature. I mean yeah test the drivetrain, go for full power sprints, climb the steepest shit you can, but dont purposely abuse the drivetrain. You wouldn't do that on a normal ride (hopefully) and it's not a fair test to this one. Im sure im not the only person clinching my ass when I hear those shifting sounds.
I see why you have shifting problems. 2.40m i see you run the shifter cable from over the top of the bolt. It needs to go the other way. Trust me. I spend 2 days trying to solve my shifting problems. Then i ran the cable the other way and that solved everything.
Killer video as usual Otter! Have to admit that longed caged derailleurs have not place on aggro trail riding bikes at all. Especially at 10spd, what’s the point? To the bin she goes. Be cool to test this compared to the short caged 10spd Linkglide system (no Cues) that uses the same cassette (Cues)
