i don't think appointing diversity into congress is a bad thing. In a system where money gets you elected, some groups of people don't have access to that influence without selling their soul first. I think constantly electing a bunch of middle age white guys and expecting them to push the needle forward on issues that don't affect them is not going to progress the country. We have the highest maternal mortality rate in the western world, having more women in congress would definitely get more solutions on the table to reduce that number, don't you think?
Even bigger mistake considering Maxine "Lipstick on a Pig" Waters is one of them.

this is part of the reason I left the democratic party a handful of years ago...because they dont care about policy, public stance, values...they're purely about race and gender and a bunch of other extremely important topics in a surface level and condescending way.
