Again a great podcast: just some info about your pun about the wine organ stop: there is a Dutch organ in Urk which has a stop called ‘candy’. When you pull it a roll of peppermint slides out.

4:11 The organ equivalent of "many strings to his bow" could be "many ranks to his mixture" or "many bells to his zimbelstern".

Absolutely fascinating. See if you can get David Goode, Martin Baker or Kevin Bowyer as your podcast guests; they would be highly interesting.

I was born and raised in Arizona and went to Organ Stop Pizza many many times over the past 30 or 40 years.. As an organist, I always tried to sit as close as possible so I could watch the organist. I really enjoyed listening to the music, although I prefer more classical styles of organ music. I did eat the pizza, it's not the best in Mesa, but it's okay for a place like this. I would highly recommend that if you are ever in the vicinity of Phoenix, Arizona, of which Mesa is a "suburb," (maybe 20 minutes from the airport) that you go there.

Witty; mildly irreverent but never cruel; insightful but never too erudite or nerdy; driven by a simmering passion for the organ world, if not for the music of Marcel Jean-Jules Dupré. Certainly another fascinating Organ Podcast, Ben, never less than highly entertaining and always full of vital information for success in life, like not drinking butt-contaminated bath water.
(Of course, there was one moment of total devastation. How could you not relish 172 minutes of Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer in the high art of a Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein II classical musical? Akin to suggesting manual 16' and 8' leathered open diapasons on high wind pressure lack the clarity of tone required for Bach counterpoint. Really!)

I'm something of an organist myself.
