Webinar on Social Theatre by Shawn Amador on 6th April 2024

Shawn Amador is a therapist at CORE Connection Counseling where her specialty is working with children through early adulthood with social deficits. Social Theatre uses role-play, comedy, games to enhance social understanding & social skills in persons with autism & related conditions. Social Theatre is utilized in group therapy, as it intertwines concepts from DBT/CBT, Social Thinking®, mindfulness, and more recently neuro-psychology, namely the Polyvagal Theory. Furthermore, the plays the group write have been compared to Carol Gray’s Social Stories, but on stage. Autism Society West Bengal (ASWB) is a parent-initiated NGO working for the education, skill development and empowerment of individuals with autism over 21 years. ASWB is based in Kolkata, West Bengal, India. ASWB actively participates in autism awareness events and champions for the rights of individuals with autism to participate in areas of education, employment & social events. Seminars, webinars and workshops on various topics related to autism are regularly organised by ASWB.
