      Cheers I enjoyed this one. I liked carrying it daily and I honestly used it for many tasks including sorting out some equipment in a car trunk, hikes, walks etc. Im starting to wonder what my reviews would be like if I followed the standard model of: Open the box and say its super bright then shine it into the back garden then say its brilliant and have a review of 10 mins long. I think there is so much I would not understand or learn for daily use for weeks.

      Thanks mate I find the only way I can truly learn about a light is loads of out door comparisons and testing i often wonder how many conclusions are missed on short style 8 min long reviews?

      Tack broder! Glad you enjoyed this one, this light still works well for me so as usual Sofirn give us a low priced gem of a light.

    For this old guy, the compact size, the easy to use UI, wish for better CRI with the SST40; more body colors please

    For me its perfect as a work light attached to a side of my helmet. Smaller, lighter and way cheaper then my other lights!
    I love the UI and the big switch, no problem to press with any gloves.

      @@TrailTrek only for work because the light is attached to the helme and the tail its easy to find. for the handheld flashlights i strongly prefer a side switch.

    I would say, this is an EDC light. Small, light, bright enough to do almost anything, and replaceable batteries. Not a massive thrower but, a good floody light.

    I've always thought fresnel lenses were really neat, and wondered why they weren't used in flashlights. Efficient use of space/weight is one of my top priorities for lights, so it seems like the perfect choice

    • @TrailTrek
      @TrailTrek Рік тому +2

      You have a point it reduces weight and size of the lens but im guessing they maybe think saving 3 mm isn't worth the effort if it costs more to do. I would love to go and talk to one of the engineers to find out why mind as I certainly don't know the right answer.

    Great review!!! I hate to say it, but someone has to. It's your cheap a$$ C to C cable that's the problem. lol Actually, both my PD C to C 60W and 100W Anker cables fit my SC32 just fine. The 60W cable just barely makes it, but the 100W cable fits just fine. You think it would be the other way around. I'm sure I have a C to C cable around here somewhere that won't fit though. lol
    As for the clip, I think it's best clip Sofirn ever put on one of their lights. I actually prefer the deep carry not going all the way to the edge of the tail. I like just a bit of the light sticking out. Clips are a personal preference, as many people like them the way you do. You really need to get a couple of Olights Baton 3 clips for your SP10 Pro and TS10.
    I like my SC32 for all the reasons you described. Great size, easy UI that still gives you a choice of stepped or smooth ramping, great beam profile for walking, and plenty bright even though it doesn't reach 2000lm. The difference between 1500 and 2000lm is barely even noticeable to the human eye. If it did hit 2000lm, it would just step down more quickly.
    I do wish it had "battery check" though. I don't remember if it has enough stages with the indicator light to actually be useful. I hate when they show green from 20%-100% and red from 10%-20% and flashing red under 10%. It's just not accurate enough. This one may be different, I just don't remember. I have too many lights, if there is such a thing. lol

    • @TrailTrek
      @TrailTrek Рік тому +4

      Ha ha yes that cable end is wide but it works on other lights so I was surprised it wouldn't fit here. I agree about the battery check. On some of the Nitecore headlamps they have a set of led lights so at least you can work out an approximate level of power left. I do love Sofirn they make lights at a sensible price with a load of modern features and they just work. I'd love Sofirn to start adding oled screens then it's be hooked even more. But they the price without rise I guess. I hope they do a pro version of this light. 😁👍

      @@TrailTrek I was hoping that my comment would make you smile and that you wouldn't take it the wrong way. I was just kidding 😂
      I guess I'm old school, maybe even old old school, lol. I grew up when color TV's where just getting popular. There were no affordable microwave ovens or computers, not even electronic calculators. Alkaline battery, what's that? And while I think OLED screens on a flashlight, sorry, TORCH, is kinda cool, I think it's kinda gimmicky too, and just something else that can go wrong. If I'm using a light, I set it to the output I need to do what I need to do. The light telling me what that output is is meaningless to me when my eyes are doing that. And the time remaining is maybe a bit useful, but again, if I need to drop a level or two so I have a longer run time, if it doesn't give enough light it's kinda meaningless to me. Have you ever checked the accuracy of the lights timer against an external timer? Like I said, I'm old school and I figure it's my own dumb a$$ fault for not having the common sense to have a second light with me! If I know I'm going out for quite a while, I always have a another light or a spare battery. I carry a Sofirn SP10 Pro with me all the time and if I know I might need more light than it can provide, I bring along my SC31 Pro. The new Vapcell F12 3A 14500 offers incredible runtime. It's a 1250mAh cell. It's the first 14500 cell I've tested that actually meets its rating! Actually it exceeds it a bit! Most of my 14500 cells come in around 800-900mAh of actual capacity. I just got 6 of the F12's from Liion Wholesale and so far they range from 1279-1305mAh of capacity and that's at a 500ma discharge rate ( .4C). Twice the .2C rate companies use for testing capacity. I still have 2 more to test. But that's around 50% more capacity than most of my other 14500 cells! I ran one over night in my SP10 Pro and set it to around 100lm (I closely matched it to the medium output of my Olight S2R Baton ll which is 120lm) and after 10 hours the voltage had dropped to 3.2v and while the output had dropped a bit at this point, it was still plenty bright enough for walking. I was impressed! Liion Wholesale has them in button top and The 18650 Battery Store has them in flat top. The button top H10 cells I purchased at the same time measured around 900mAh of capacity. Not bad, but still 100mAh less than their rating. Sorry for the long rant. 😅

      @@craigs7181 Oh of course its all good fun! Plus don't forget this is a free speech channel, I don't delete comment's even if people say im a right plonker ha ha ha
      Of course you are right about having a screen on a light its yet another part that can break. However im starting to get to the point where some of the U.I. are so complex even I cant remember them all so at that point a screen comes in useful. I have a little screen on my keychain light the Nitecore TINI2 and love it.
      I didn't know about that vapcell that's a massive bump in capacity il try and pick one up I use a vapcell 14500 in a lumintop fwaa I have and its around 1000mah but what I like best is that it will pump 10 amps no problem!

    • @craigs7181
      @craigs7181 Рік тому +2

      @@TrailTrek I gave more thought to OLED screens in lights. In lights that have built in batteries and lights that have tens of thousands of lumens where you have several extremely bright levels, I think it would be quite helpful, but other than that I don't think I would want one.
      I have sixteen 10A cells. Eight button top Vapcell H10's, four of which I just received in the same order as the six Vapcell F12's, four flat top H10's, and four button top Epoch 14500 10A cells that perform just like the H10's. They are all rated at 1000mAh but none of them actually achieve their rating. They range from 890mAh to 945mAh, most around 900mAh. The Vapcell F12 1250mAh cells range from 1279 to 1310mAh of actual capacity. Five of the six cells hit 1300 and that was at a 500ma discharge rate for all of the cells listed above. The button top F12's work in my Sofirn SP10 Pro's and SF14 v3, my Wurkkos TS10's, my Lumintop Tool AA's. The button tops may or may not work in the FWAA. It depends how finicky the light is about the length of cells you put in it. But the F12's are some very good high capacity 14500 cells.Better order more than one !!! lol

    Great review mate 👍 Only about 15 mins in, but you have to admit the UI is very anduril-ish. Long press from off for moonlight, four clicks for lockout. Access to ramping… I was thinking about the SC31 pro, then was going to wait for the pro version of this, but I love anduril and I think this is a similar enough UI. I'm kind of 50/50, do I wait for a pro version, or just get this now. 😁
