I will check the Alaska E&E out. Due to my own fault suffered from Diabetes T2, but luckily due to 5 km runs, and eating properly, are now medication free. Have not visited Fast Food Takeaways for over six years, and seeing someone with a leg amputated due to T2 , shows how fragile life can be. All The Best. P.S. a guy I served with has also got T2 under control, and has been allowed to California State Guard !
NI patrol packs are awesome, probably my favorite and most used pack! Very good and informative video Harry; I look forward to seeing your adventure! I’m off next week to North Wales and guess what..... I plan on using a NI patrol pack too! 😊 maybe even make a video! Great stuff Harry, love the set up! Best wishes, Gilly 🤙
On mine I've put, a British Army hip belt, you can also use to put a British Army molle pouch on the shoulder straps for an ammo water bottle. You can also add a dpm nbc haversack to the back of the molle webbing on the pack. I also used British Army webbing at the top with two ammo pouches tied on with cable ties. This gives extra storage space. But you used a medics attachment 👍🏻. These are other options. I also had a black nylon cover to go over the pack to keep the rain off. These are my modifications that I've done to my pack. I found the hip belt made a difference, my water was accessible by being on the shoulder strap. My food supply could go in the NBC haversack. And extra water could be put in the ammo pouches. I put a roll mat at the bottom of the pack tied on with bungees. 👍🏻 My first aid kit is at the top of the pack inside the zip lid. 🎒👍🏻🥾🙂.
@@FlyingHaggisFilms You can buy on eBay or from Army surplus a hip belt for about £10. Just get a normal flat one. It easily fits through the loops on the padded back of the NI. The hip belt should have some clip buckles these go round the waist belt which feeds through. The hip belt is then attached and can be removed. Think they are a standard size?. 👍🏻 Come in DPM or MTP. I have the MTP one and it works. OK Harry. 👍🏻
That's a good idea mate, I'll get a Hippo pad for my NI patrol pack too. Cracking idea! I also added a bergen front pouch to the front of it too just for water. Got any vids of your hippo set up
You’re looking well Harry!, well done on reducing down the NI pack to a 10kg. Pack Weight. Looking forward to this one ☝🏻 Fella. My Hip was replaced 23/7 and I was awake, laffing and joking with the aesthetician Held and felt my removed femoral head. They wouldn’t let me keep it, have got a piece of bone cement though! I told the consultant surgeon I enjoyed the op, he said that was a first. I said you n your team are worth your weight in gold. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻
What an adventure you have been through Michael, all the very best with your recovery, it won't be long before you are out and about, well done mate. Harry
@@FlyingHaggisFilms Thanks Harry. I’m Building up my mobility and muscle strength Walking currently with two cripple sticks but working it. Really looking forward to this video You’ve thought it through well 🙏🏻 Hope you have great weather. 👍🏻
Look forward to the vid of your trip Harry, have a good one. As for a pillow cover, I use a shemagh or sweat towel, preferably the shemagh if its warm and the sweat towel has been heavily used. The shemagh can be used for all sorts as you know. Cheers mate.
Shemagh can be very versatile, sling in an emergency (god forbid) towel for drying, to keep sun off your head, to provide additional warmth. For the lack of weight I would personally take it. Even as Deeps says pillow case.
Thanks Dean, hope my mountain solitude will bring me closer to the joy and good company of the ultimate truth Himself and that I return home transfigured. Ha ha ...
Nice pack Harry. Doesn't matter how long you stay away, one night or eight, the basic volume is the same. Only the amount of food will take extra space. So, the lighter and compacter the gear, the more food you can carry, the longer you can stay.
So true Hans, kit is the same for longer time out only, finding time to be out longer is a challenge , at least I officially retire March next year, happy days. Nice to hear from you, looking forward to watching your latest trip. All the very best to you. Harry.
Some very nice looking equipment there. I'm sure your adventure will be blessed. I need to take heed of how well you organize your pack. I tend to be a bit all over the place with my stuff.:)
Well, life is a process, I think took two years to organise my kit and a lifetime to understand the value of solitude, silent listening outdoors and asceticism or should I say, non dualism in quiet prayer of the heart, hence my Moses style of mountain retreat. 🙂
love the back to basics approach ... looking forward to seeing how you get on, i gave my NI patrol pack away because i'm an idiot, (partly because i struggled to take just the essentials, as i'm carrying food and bedding for my wolf too)
Ah that's a shame Neil perhaos your wolf wouldn't object to carrying it's own frashions and water the an NI pack might be on the cards again? Atb bud from another idiot. Harry.
Thanks John, head torch? was in my ruck lid next to water purification. Hope you will enjoy my little adventure when it finally happens. All the best. Harry
Hi Mike, yes, it is a medical pouch with zips for attaching to the side of a bergen ruck, however, on my NI smaller pack I just used zip ties. Hope that helps. Harry
@@FlyingHaggisFilms Thank you sir for your reply. These pouches I think come from DPM medical daysack which is quite rare I think. And I think those are side pockets meant for that pack. Same like those bergen side pouches. Did quick research once I saw this 😂. Nice setting, and great Idea what you did. NI pack is awesome, and I love mine. Will try to add that or similar if can. Thank you.
Hi 👋🏼 I would love to know more about the large first aid pouch that you have attached to the front of the NI patrol pack. Where could I find one and how you’ve attached it to the pack. What a great idea it is anyway. All the very best!
Hi Simon. The aud Pugh was a gift I'm afraid however I attached it with plastic tie cords each corner onto pack webbing. Best place to find random pouches in Dpm would be Ebay or Amazon of course. Al the best . Harry
@@FlyingHaggisFilms hiya Harry. Thanks very much for getting back and letting me know. I went on the hunt for one on the Internet but unfortunately I couldn’t find one in stock anywhere. I’ve sussed out what they are etc. From what I see they’re part of the PLCE system and are a side pouch for a medics bergen. The zip on and off type. I have an NI patrol pack so understand about the two strips of webbing loops down each side by the side pouches. Anyway it’s a genius idea for getting that bit extra in the load out. P.s. If I should ever bear to part with it I'll keep you in mind but I have to add that easy or amazon might just have one ocassionally. Good hunting bud. Harry, out....
Great channel buddy, it’s a sub from me, look forward to your stealth camp videos. Have you considered the popular traffic island stealths, I did one on my channel. Keep em coming
Thanks Steve, yes I think roundabouts are secure places with little through people traffic, although a kind of toxic paradise. Glad I found your channel, stealth developed in my life as a result of landlord insecurity and fear of homelessness during the eighties. Your channel is a God send. Cheers. Harry
Carry a stainless steel flask, they keep contents hot for over 8 hours, and so instead of having to stop every few hours to use the stove , keep on going. I can understand why you use a DPM patrol rucksack , and bevi bag, because due the cost, but being ex Mob , dump the DPM clothing. We used take the P**s out of those who wore it( specially if overweight)and for the cost to get good civilian kit. Good Luck on your trip, and consider taking a PRC/ CB handheld radio with you to pass the time.
I should add that I am overweight partly due to diabetes and pancreatic glucose issues, and that I use DPM reluctantly as it is affordable on my very low income bracket. But no offence taken, although I have to say that I like DPM in my terrain for stealth. Do if you can look at the UA-cam channel by Ivarr Bergman 'Escape and Evasion' an ex forces guy now in Alaska, who likes to blend in. And my other good friend Gillian Smith UA-cam.
