  • Finnish Infrastructure for Integrative Structural Biology is formed by three Centers of Excellence at the Universities of Helsinki, Oulu and Eastern Finland. We provide expert-supported access to services and technologies in sample preparation, characterization, and structure determination. The Finnish structural biology community is represented by the national consortium Instruct-FI, which is forming a national link to the Instruct-ERIC.
Biocenter Oulu fosters the expertise and infrastructure for protein crystallography including crystal data management and for molecular biophysics. The technologies for protein crystallography include protein crystallisation and in-house data collection capabilities, which are linked to the development of the IceBear software. IceBear is used to view the results of protein crystallization experiments and to track crystal handling and sample shipment to other data collection facilities. Structural studies can be complemented by a range of biophysical methods for sample characterization and for studying macromolecular interactions including research of enzymes as biocatalysts.
Biocenter Oulu is a strategic focus institute of the University of Oulu in the city of Oulu, situated in northern Finland. The Instruct platform consists of Biocenter Oulu core facilities for protein crystallography and molecular biophysics.
